Kaito Momota (Kaito x Kokichi)

Chapter 5 spoilers. Doesn't contain the deaths, but y'know, I think we all know what I'm on about. cOUGH COUGH COUGH blood splatter COUGH COUGH.

Once again, requested by the ever-so-lovely SheMyCrabQueen, who asked for OuMota If That's Alright, Sorry For Asking Again It's Just one of My Favourite Ships

Don't apologise, I'd love to write this! I've left a little explanation as to why the updates are so non-existent (it's similar to what's posted on my wall, if you weren't aware), so you don't have to read it, but I think you guys deserve to know what's going on. Also, turned out a little bit sadder than I expected. Sorry...

Everything about Kaito aggravated the trickster. The man's confidence, his looks, and just the general way he carried himself. Every part of the astronaut was opposite to the trickster, with the exclusion of both of them having purple hair and being ultimate students, and it annoyed him to his wits end of how much he envied the astronaut. No matter what happened with the astronaut, everyone seemed to take his side, whether it was the full truth or not.

Being such a highly skilled liar and trickster, he could see through any of Kaito's white lies that he allowed to slip by. Most of the time, he could handle Kaito's lies. They were always aimed at his supposed sidekicks (even though their entire class was aware that Kaito was clearly the sidekick to Shuichi), and were harmless. Most of his lies were identical to Kokichi's himself; harmless and to defend himself.

However, Kokichi's began to question Kaito's authenticity in his lies. Specifically, after an incident at what they had deemed as "breakfast", which was hardly breakfast after Kirumi's tragic demise.

The day had started usual. Kokichi had arrived at the dining room, sat at the table, and began teasing Kiibo, because it was just too easy and funny. Call him childish, but his antics gave him the only little happiness he held onto in the situation they were faced with. Like the usual teasing, he was also one of the last to arrive, only beating the astronaut, which struck confusion to the trickster to begin with.

"Morning Saihara-chan!" He called out nonetheless, smiling devilishly at the detective. Shuichi looked up, however only bid Kokichi a simple morning. Boring.

None of them made any effort to eat. It was almost as a silent pact, that none of them to replace the space that Kirumi had for them. Of course, many had tried, and they even tried as a group to come together to cook. By group, that included all the living minus Kokichi, of course. Not that he minded. Definitely.

Well, maybe a little, but he wasn't one to dwell on the past.

"Sorry I'm late."

Kokichi's head raised at the gruff, deep voice of the astronaut. Just one look at the astronaut made it crystal clear that he wasn't entirely with the group. Despite usually having a tan complexion, Kaito's skin matched more to Kokichi's than it ever had done. His eyes held heavy, dark bags underneath them, and if you looked deeply at his mouth, not that Kokichi was or anything, a little pool of pink substance had formed against the corner, looking incredible similar to blood.

"Why are you so late, Momota-chan?!" Kokichi questioned, teasing the man to hide the concern he felt.

"Fuck off, you gremlin." Kaito muttered, shaking his head. He seated himself beside his beloved Maki Roll, and just the thought of the bitch made Kokichi's blood boil. He'd have hung out with any of the girls, even including Miu, and guys over Maki any day of the week.

"Although it seems Kokichi was rather... sarcastic in his manner, I two fear for your tardiness. Is there any explanation to your lateness, Momota?" Kiibo asked politely, and for once, Kokichi was glad for the robot's presence other than to entertain him.

"Just overslept, struggled to sleep last night." Kaito replied, refusing to look at the robot, who simply nodded in response, and turned to start a conversation with Himiko and Tsumugi.

"If you ever need to return to your room Kaito and catch up on sleep, we won't judge you." Tsumugi offered, smiling lightly at the astronaut, who nodded dismissively.

Despite it being completely off topic, something about Tsumugi bothered Kokichi. Of course, he had nothing to prove that she had done something wrong, or that she was going to do something wrong, but she just had an aura that screamed that she wasn't as sickly sweet as she made herself out to be.

Moving back on topic, Kokichi could clearly decipher the lie Kaito had told. It might have appeared to be harmless, but some sort of unsettling feeling in Kokichi's gut told him that he couldn't believe that Kaito was going to be fine. However, he respected Kaito's wishes to not disclose with the group what was wrong.

God, he was turning into such a sap, he told himself.

Kokichi had managed to let go of Kaito's lie through most of "breakfast", however when Kaito excuse himself after a rather painful-sounding coughing fit, Kokichi couldn't let it go for much longer. In a rather rushed manner, he also excuse himself, quickly running after the astronaut, following him into the male bathrooms.

Kokichi never remembered being good at sports, but in the instance of following the astronaut, he was sure he could've been misplaced for some sort of Ultimate Sprinter, even if it did come from him.

Kaito had locked himself in one of the stalls, but it was clear that the poor male was being sick. Retches filled the air, and Kokichi's heart filled with pity for the astronaut. Being sick was an awful thing, and he wouldn't wish it on anyone, especially on someone like Kaito.

Being the skilled lock picker that Kokichi was, he unlocked the stall with ease, and was met with the heart-wrenching sight of Kaito leant of the toilet, blood spewing from his mouth. Kokichi gasped, shocked at the scene, as Kaito groaned, looking to see Kokichi.

"You better... keep you're fucking mouth... shut." Kaito muttered, spitting one last bit of blood out before flushing the toilet. He leaned back against the wall, wiping the blood from around his mouth. Kokichi hesitantly sat down next to him, patting his arm. Kaito sighed, but leaned his head on Kokichi's shoulder, closing his eyes. Kokichi looked at him, confused.

"How... how long?" Kokichi asked, and Kaito sighed.

"It wasn't this bad to start with. I don't even remember getting it-"

"How long." Kokichi asked again. "How long has it been this bad?"

"Last couple of days... maybe a week?" Kaito muttered, nestling further into Kokichi's shoulder. Kokichi nodded, closing his eyes.

"So you probably don't have long left, huh?" Kokichi chuckled, however was far from amused. Kaito was silent, and Kokichi could feel his shirt beginning to get wet.

"I... I don't want to die." Kaito whispered brokenly, sobbing into Kokichi's shoulder. Kokichi pulled the taller man into a hug, despite still being on the floor, running his fingers through the astronauts hair. "I... Who'll look after Maki and Shuichi if...if I-"

"Don't worry about them." Kokichi whispered comfortingly, continuing his soothing pattern on the astronaut's scalp. Kaito sobbed again, digging his head into Kokichi's shoulder, not that the trickster minded.

"I know it's going to get me eventually... but... I just.." Kaito trailed off, and Kokichi nodded in understanding.

"We'll get through it, all of us will. You just have to be hon-"

"I can't tell them." Kaito interrupted. "Who're they going to trust if they know that I'm not going to survive?"

"You're too selfless, Kaito." Kokichi muttered. "You're deaths inevitable, and you're still insisting that you'll be fine."

"Just... don't make me tell them." Kaito whispered. "Please, Kokichi."

Frustrated, Kokichi finally nodded, knowing it was pointless to try and persuade the astronaut. He held onto the astronaut, smiling lightly as he slowly drifted off into a calm sleep. Kokichi sneakily kissed his forehead, allowing the astronaut to rest on him.

Little did he know that he was faced with the inevitable much sooner than any of them would've realised, sitting in the cold, disgusting bathrooms of the sick and twisted killing games, who had mercy for nothing and no one, no matter what the situation was.

Next update: sick!Makoto, Makoto x Byakuya, by shadow_dancer66

So I wanted to apologise as for why the updates are so far spread, and lack the quality I want to put in them. It's not that I no longer enjoy writing them, I absolutely love writing them, but most of the time I hardly find the motivation to even do something with my day, so it's incredibly hard for me to actually get the effort to write. That being said, all the love the book has received means so much to me, and I'm so thankful to each and every person who's even spared a glance. You all mean the world to me, and we're almost at 2k reads, and I wanted you to know that even if you haven't enjoyed my writing, or have only read one part of this book, that you all mean so much to me, and getting this many reads with such crappy writing is so heart warming and helps me find the inspiration to write. So thank you all xx
