CLUES FOUND: 
• The Monokuma File
• Ripped duct tape on the victim's mouth
• Abandoned duct tape roll at the top of the stairs
• Blood only around Koko's neck and head
• No signs of struggle
• Eyes are closed
• Leg is on-top of broken leg
• Leg is broken
• Oiled hand imprint on her back

"We don't have much to go off of this time," Kyou mused. "Another challenge..."

"So!" Monokuma chirped. "The way the Class Trial works is that you have to find the blackened! If you run out of time or get it wrong, everyone besides the blackened will be executed. If you get it right, only the blackened will be executed."

"Yeah, yeah, we know," Alex waved him off. "Let's start off with the things we already know- the victim is Koko Shigemi."

"Yeah, I think we can all agree with that. It says in the Monokuma File, does it not?" 

"I noticed something weird about the Monokuma File... this time around, it doesn't mention the cause of death," Lucy noted. 

"Well.. her death is... uh..." Aruno frowned. "She fell down the stairs, right? It could be possible that she broke her spine or neck on the way down, and... yeah." 

"You've got that wrong!" Rika objected, pointing across the room at Aruno. 

"If I'm not mistaken, the Monokuma Files didn't mention anything else but a twisted limb and a cracked head. If her neck or spine was broken, don't you think they would mention the cause of death and-slash-or external injures, as it did for Koyanagi last time?" 

"Oh, that actually makes a lot of sense...! So it's not her spine... so how'd she die?"

"It's from the cracked head, I think," Aiko said, deep in thought. "But how you die from a cracked skull..." 

"Blood loss," Kosaki replied immediately. "Given about an hour and a half with no injuries such as the neck being broken, someone can bleed to death." 

"That makes a lot of sense too," Aruno said, tapping his headphones. "Hey... remember, there was a pool of blood just around her neck and head..." 

"If she had really bled out, that would explain the puddle," Aruto nodded once. 

"We figured out the cause of death, right?" Aiko asked, placing her hands on the podium stand. "Her cause of death was blood loss!"

CLUE ADDED: Real Cause of Death: Blood Loss

"Moving on," Eve-Mia cut in. "How'd she fall down the stairs, and why?"

"Maybe she tripped?" 

"No, that's wrong." 

The one who offered the object was Aruno, the Ultimate Butler. "Correct me if I'm incorrect, but there was a piece of duct tape over the girl's mouth. If she did trip, tell me the reasoning behind that piece of duct tape." 

Waving a hand at him, Natsu nodded. "That would explain it- had she tripped, I'm pretty sure there's no reason to have that piece of duct tape." 

"I have a lead on the duct tape," Kosaki announced. "The piece on her mouth is definitely from the roll of duct tape on the stairs. The killer either dropped it, or left it on purpose." 

"If the killer left it on purpose... would they be on the second level or the first?" 

"The objective behind the abandoned duct tape has nothing to do if the culprit was on the second level or first level at the time!" Jyushimatsu objected. 

"I agree with that!" 

Lucy held up a hand. "If the duct tape was at the bottom of the stairs or the top, the killer still won't want to go to the second floor!" 

"Why is that?" 

"Because of the newly-installed Nighttime Announcement Rule!" 

CLUE ADDED: Nighttime Announcement Rule

"According to the new rule in our handbook, we're not allowed up on the second level after the announcement goes off. Assuming it takes about an hour and a half for Koko to bleed out, it'd be 10 PM when she was pushed!"

"Monokuma," Aruno turned towards the bear, absently tapping the small device on his headphone's wire. "When does the announcement go off, again?"

"The announcement goes off at 10 PM and at 7 AM!" The bear supplied cheerfully, dipping a paw into the honey that had mysteriously appeared before him. 

"The Monokuma File says she died from 11 PM to 11:30 PM. Whenever it be an hour or an hour and a half, it leads to 10 PM, which is when the announcement goes off." 

"Okay, let's assume she was pushed off the stairs at 10 PM. Why was she there? Why was she going from floor two to floor one?" 

"Um, I actually have a reason..."

Shifting his weight side to side, Locke rubbed at his arm, looking uncomfortable with all the eyes on him. "I was on the second floor, and I saw Koko heading to the library." 

CLUE ADDED: Locke's Account

"She must have heard the announcement and come downstairs... I realized that she was rather polite, and had manners," Alex mused. "So it's like she did follow the rules." 

"Unlike some of us," Rika responded dryly, aiming the comment at Locke. 

His eyes widened. "Hey, hey, I was downstairs before the announcement rang!" 

CLUE UPDATED: Locke's Account

"You know, there's the possibility that no one was there when she fell. That means it would be counted as an accidental suicide." 

"You've got that wrong!" 

Kyou's gaze was defiant. "When I walked around her body, I noticed that there was a piece of tan duct tape around her mouth- which is what we mentioned earlier. If she did actually trip, there would be no tape around her mouth. Someone put it there on purpose." 

"You're forgetting something- it doesn't have to be an accidental suicide. It can be a purposeful suicide as well," Kosaki said, inspecting her nails and yawning. 

Kyou looked taken aback. "If-If she did do that..."

"That would explain the tape, and the reason why she dropped the roll, because she wouldn't be able to pick it up again."

"How does that explain the piece of tape?" Locke asked, cocking his head. 

"If it was a purposeful suicide, she might have placed it across  her mouth to stop herself from crying out." 

"There were also no signs of struggle, so if she did it to herself... that would explain it." 

"Then let's consider the motive. Well, Koko's motive for killing herself, if she did." 

"Are you talking about the no-sleep motive?" Locke questioned. "Did Koko become rash or inconsiderate to any of you?" 

Murmurs of 'no's' echoed throughout the room and he frowned, as if the lead he had disappeared. 

"Why would Koko commit suicide...?" 

Silence settled over all the occupants in the court room. 

"Are you done discussing?" Monokuma yawned. "In that case, vote~!" 

"Wait, we still have more to discuss!" Kyou cried out, alarmed. 

"Koko's eyes are closed- while she was bleeding out, did she close them herself?" 

All evidence mounts against Koko's suicide. 

But is that it? 

"I have an objection," Kosaki spoke up. "When I looked at the body, it looked like, under her eyelids, her eyes were rolled back."

"What?!"

"Like, she was knocked out!" 

"Once more, did you guys seriously not notice the clear imprint of an oiled hand on the small of her back?" Kosaki asked with a face-palm. 

"That handprint would definitely belong to someone..." 

"Who would have hands with oil on them? Or, at least something dirty?" 

"The Ultimate Inventor..." 

At his talent, Locke's head shot up. "Wait, what?" He held up his hands as if to stop someone from coming towards him, but as clear as ever, black smudges covered his entire hands. 

"I couldn't kill someone...!" he protested. 

"The Ultimate Inventor might need to carry around duct tape, since it is very durable..."

"Who was the one who hurried to us to find the body? Locke," Kosaki said, her eyes narrowed at him. "Well, Locke?"

"I told you, I couldn't k-kill someone...!"

"Are we just suppose to believe the word of the mouth?" Aruto retorted, his words scathing. 

"Well, no, but I told you that I was downstairs!"

"Did anyone see him?" 

Silence.

"I believe the sharing of alibis is needed for this, no?" The Ultimate Butler asked, cocking his head. 

"Um..." Lucy bit her lip. "I was with a group of people- Aruno, Kyou, Aiko, and Jyushimatsu in the Dining Hall." 

CLUE ADDED: Lucy's Account

Rika rubbed at her arm. "I was with Eve-Mia, Alex, and Natsu, looking for exits on the second level. We went downstairs somewhere around 9:30 and resumed searching on the first level."

"I was with the Ultimate Prick himself," Kosaki said, jerking his thumb at Aruto. "In the library, arguing. And... it so happens I saw Locke and Koko last night in the library. He left with her."

Locke stiffened. "Y-You saw us?" 

"I did," she said, cocking her head to the side. "What are you going to do about it?" 

"Monokuma," Alex said, looking at the bear. "Just asking, for the body announcement, is it three people and the murderer, or three people including the murderer?"

"Oh, for this case, it's three people, then the murderer!" 

"The first three people to see the body were Locke, Lucy, and me when we arrived. The body announcement didn't go off then, it only went off when Eve-Mia arrived, followed by everyone else..." Aiko trailed off

"Evidence is building up against you, Locke," Natsu commented. "You overlap both of those lists."

Locke's eyes went wide, panicky. "W-What? No! I d-d-didn't do i-it, I swear! I just..." 

"Locke." 

The Ultimate Inventor fell silent, and several glimmers fell down as he bent over his podium. 

"... I-It was a... an accident..."

"Locke?" 

The small boy straightened, streaks of tears running down his face. "I... I can't stand the pressure of actually killing someone..."

He swiped a hand over his hand, attempting to rub the tears away. 

"Y-You're admitting it?" Aiko whispered. 

"Y-Yeah... let me just... explain. I was with her the night of her death. We were walking from floor two to floor one upon hearing the announcement. The reason why we were on floor two is what Kosaki said- we were in the library, but Koko was looking for books about staying awake, I just accompanied her.

"After finding nothing, we walked back to the first floor about twenty-minutes after the announcement rang. Everyone had gone downstairs. She was chattering about how cute Kyou and Lucy were together-"

At his comment, Kyou glanced at the floor, his cheeks red. Lucy looked similar. 

"-since she's the Ultimate Matchmaker.  I-I told her to shut up, and she replied 'I only will if you make me'. So I did... I took the duct tape I always carried around with me, and I stuck it across her mouth. She honored her words, she went quiet, but suddenly stopped... I bumped into her. And you know what happened.

".... she broke her leg on the way down, and I think she fell unconscious upon cracking her head open... I thought I had killed her... so I dropped the duct tape and ran across the hallway, as far from the body as possible..." Locke inhaled shakily. "It was an accident...!"

"And it took Koko about an hour and a half to die from blood loss," Kosaki finished. 

"Y-Yeah, probably..." 

"Or, are we finally done!" Monokuma perked up, popping the sleep bubble that had flowed up from his nose. "Please cast your votes!" 

With a heavy heart, everyone clicked Locke's symbol, even Locke himself.

"You areeee correct! The killer of Koko Shigemi is Locke Nagarashi, upupupu!"
