Chapter 10 - Wings Of Regret! ...Crane From Kung Fu Panda 3 Anyone?

Kit's POV

"You betrayed us!"

"You made us be split apart!"

"You're no friend of mine."

"You're a disgrace to the readers."

"NO!!!"  I cried, bolting upwards.

I was breathing quickly, tears running down my face.

I had an ache in my wings and arms, but otherwise, I was ok.

...I was ok....

What about everyone else...?

Oh God.

I betrayed them.

I made them split apart.

What's WRONG with me?!

I placed my hands in my face and cried.

"I'm a disgrace...."

"Kit...."

I froze and looked up.

Known.

But...she didn't look angry.  She looked...concerned?

I looked away.  "I know you're angry at me.  I'm angry at me."

"Kit, look at me."

I sniffled and looked into Known's golden eyes.

"WE'RE.  NOT.  ANGRY.  Do you understand?  We know you were being controlled.  It was plainly obvious.  Please, that wasn't you.  That was Herobrine controlling you."

I closed my eyes and hung my head.  "But I was stupid enough to get caught and controlled."

Known grabbed my chin suddenly and pulled it up.  I opened my eyes to see her golden eyes flashing.  "Don't EVER think that.  You did what you thought was best.  You were brave to volunteer in scouting the castle.  And honestly, you're very strong.  You were able to take me out.  DON'T.  Take that badly.  I'm glad that you're you again.  With that kind of strength, with a bit of practice, you'll be a BEAST.  Ok?  You are amazing, Kit.  Don't ever think you're a disgrace.  You didn't betray us.  Herobrine is the one at fault."

I smiled sadly and pulled Known in for a hug.  "Thank you...."

Known was startled for a second before hugging me back.  "You know the readers are about to ship us, right?"

I laughed as I pulled back.  "Eh.  Let them.  It's interesting to see how far the ships go.  As long as they don't write...THOSE kinda things, it's fine."

I finally took the chance to look around.

We were in a smallish-sized room with three beds and a door directly beside my bed.  Ashley was still lying on a bed, though she was awake.  She smiled lightly at me.

Known grabbed my hand.  "Up we go."

She pulled me up into a standing position and let go.

I winced at the ache in my legs, but I was able to stand without help.

"Where...are we?"

Known shrugged.  "I dunno.  I woke up a few minutes ago.  My wounds seem to be mostly healed.  Then again, when in full light, I do heal faster."

I went over to Ashley.  "How are you doing?"

She coughed and pushed herself into a sitting position, laying back against the wall.  "A little heartbroken and pretty hurt.  I've been bandaged up, though, so...I guess these are good people?"

"Heartbroken?  Ooh...."  I smirked.

She blushed a little.  "Yes, I like Sky a lot.  So?"

I giggled a little.  "Anyway, y'all wanna see where we are?"

They both nodded.  "Could I have a little help?"

Known smiled and pointed her hands at the open window.  It seemed to be morning.

The yellow sparks flew towards her.  She then pointed at Ashley.  The sparks swirled around her, lifting her slightly.  "There.  These should help you be able to walk better."

Ashley scooted across the bed and placed her feet on the ground before standing up.

She winced, but the yellow sparks swirled mostly around her shoulders, making little loops around her arms.

So...the sparks were holding her up.

"That is still freakishly cool."  I said.

Ashley nodded and took a couple steps forward.  "Yeah...this works.  Thanks, Known."

"No prob.  Lez go!"

She went over to the door and opened it easily.

It creaked slightly, making me wince.

She went out into the area and looked around.  She beckoned us forwards.

We followed quietly as we walked down a bunch of hallways.

Geez, how big was this place?!

We eventually got into this huge open area that you would probably see in a mansion.

We walked in it and headed through a random door.

It was a dining room.  There was a man and a woman eating breakfast.

Though...the man was extremely familiar.

The man looked up at us.

It was Sub.

Ok, seriously, how does he eat?!

Eh.

:Oh, hello!  Glad to see you guys are ok!:  He...said...?

Uhh....

The woman looked up and smiled.  "You're probably confused.  Come, eat with us and we'll explain."

We looked at each other and then went and sat opposite them.

The woman got up and we were able to fully see her.

Not like that!  Geez....

She had bright blue eyes and dirty blonde hair that went down to her shoulders.  She looked to be in her late 20s.

She left the room and went somewhere.

:I haven't seen you two in ages!  And...well, I haven't seen you before.:  Sub said happily.

"I'm...not gonna ask about how you're talking.  I guess we'll just let the woman explain.  But...you aren't surprised to see us?"  I asked.

He shrugged.  :It was startling, that's for sure.  However, you all were severely injured, so I called Velloa to come help me bring you all back to the house.  She's my wife, by the way.:

"Nice.  That's...nice."  Ashley muttered.

Before the conversation could continue, Velloa entered the room again carrying three plates of food.

She sat them down in front of us and then sat back down next to Sub.

We looked uncertainly at the food before I shrugged and started eating.

Known and Ashley followed soon after.

I paused in my eating to ask the question on our minds.  "How is Sub talking?  I mean, he's mute."

Velloa nodded.  "He is.  However, I have a high education in mechanics and biology.  With his permission, I opened his head and connected many wires to the part of the brain that controls talking.  I patched that up and wired it through to a miniature speaker on the back of his head.  You can't really see it."

"That's really cool!"

:It is.  I really wish that I could show the others, but I have no clue where they are besides Sky, and he has a kingdom to run.:

That jolted us out of the moment.  "Oh my God, I can't believe I forgot about the others!"

I stood up swiftly, the chair scooting back roughly.

It startled Sub and Velloa, but Known and Ashley just looked at me.  "Kit, calm down.  We don't even know where they are!"

I clenched my fists on the table and hung my head, the barely-suppressed-before guilt surfacing.  "And we don't know where they are because it's MY FAULT."

Known sighed.  "Kit, stop it.  It isn't your fault.  We've went over this."

Sub and Velloa were silently watching.

"But...how are we supposed to find them...?"  I whispered.

Known was silent for a bit before saying, "Becca."

My head shot up and I looked at her.  "B-Becca?  Wait...WAIT!"

Both Known and I tapped our right ears, opening the connection to Becca.

' Becca? '
