Prolouge

Dandelionpatch creeped across the moor, making his way to a good digging spot. Finally, leaf-bare was over, and they could go digging again! Oh, how he remebered as a kit learning with his father, pushing the rocks behind him, struggling, though, soon getting it right. He smiled, remebered his father cheering him on, yelling how he could do it. Oh! What wonderful times!
He felt like a kit fresh out of the nursery, diving into the Earth, feeling the soil under his paws the first time, first time he saw light.. he missed being a young and free spirit; kithood. What he cherish forever. For the rest of his life until he joined Starclan. Even after that! He paused a moment, inhaling the air.
"Dande!" A voice called from behind him. Dandelionpatch snapped back, turning his body. A moor runner.. no! This is our time! Sparrowhawk turned along with the other tunnelers on patrol. "Featherstar requires you all back." Rustleap huffed, with a blank face. Dandelionpatch felt every fur on his body tingle, claws unsheathed, holding back from murdering the tom. "Why?" He barely attempted to show the nice side anymore; letting out a loud and curling hiss.
"She wants to cancel our patrol, she never lets us out anymore! All because of moor runners!" Sparrowhawk lashed out, leaping at Rustleap, a young apprentice clung onto him, holding him back. One turned into two, then a few. Even Dandelionpatch had to hold him back.   "Sparrowhawk, please." Hissed Riverpool, the tiny she stood tall.
"The weather is getting bad-" Rustleap meowed, not daring to finish the sentence with Sparrowhawk glaring at him. Dandelionpatch, instead, spat in the older warrior's face, not thinking straight. "We will not return until day! That is what she promised!" Riverpool crept from behind Dandelionpatch, speaking for the patrol.
"We will return, but only under a condition, of when the weather is fine, we will return to our tunneling duties. If not, we will not not return, or leave the clan." Riverpool dipped her head. Rustleap hestiated, and thought about it. "I will be sure to tell Featherstar, but please, come back." He begged, kneeling down beneath them.
"Riverpool-" Sparrowhawk protested, but with a glare from Dandelionpatch, he mumbled something before heading ahead of the group. The other tunnelers shook their heads to eachother, catching up to Sparrowhawk. Sparrowhawk was a noble and loyal warrior; though, short-tempered and stubborn. A brave tom, and he had known him for who knows how long. He had always wanted to be a tunneler, and had gotten even Dandelionpatch into it. Oh, how many memories they had together. Its like they were siblings, they had to share the same blood at this point!
Dandelionpatch paused, waiting for Riverpool. He turned, glancing back at his group, they didn't seem to be waiting. He rushed over to Riverpool and picked her up by the scruff like she was a kit. She didn't squirm like a kit, she actually seemed to be grateful. He dropped her on the ground, helping her up, he continued on. "Why did you defend the tunnelers?" Dandelionpatch tilted his head to the small she.
"What?" Riverpool turned, with a 'What-did-you-just-say?' look. Dandelionpatch swallowed, continuing on. "With Rustleap, helping Sparrowhawk?" Dandelionpatch explained. Their strides were matching. It seems like she just sped up, trying to get away.
Dandelionpatch looked down, opening his mouth to apogolize for the mouse-brained question.
"It's fine." Riverpool huffed, turning to face Dandelionpatch like she just predicted the future. "I defended the tunnelers because they're warriors too, I am a tunnler. Why wouldn't I?" She questioned. "But- why not right away? Why were you so hesitant towards standing up to other cats? Espically the moor-runners?" Dandelionpatch went on.
"I never wanted to be a tunneler." She whispered a hissed, her fur bristling like prickly thorns. "You.. wanted to be a moor runner?" He gasped, looking at her. "No, you-"
"I won't tell Sparrowhawk, I promise." He whispered, holding back his shock. If you wanted to be a moor-runner, why didn't you say so? "That's not what I mean't!" Riverpool hissed. Dandelionpatch flinched and stepped back. "Then, what do you want to be? You've always wanted to be a warrior! That's all you talked back then!" Dandelionpatch questioned, irritated.
"We all change over, Dande." She paused, gulping. Finally, she turned back towards him. "I want to be a medicine cat." She let it out; ashamed.
"Whats wrong with that? Why-" Dandelionpatch knew he must be annoying at this point. Why couldn't he understand her? He, along with Sparrowhawk, were her best friends. Why was he so mouse-brained?
"I always wanted to be a tunneler, I lived up to my family's legacy. But I never wanted to be forced upon me, now, I feel like I have too. As I become a warrior, it was great. I always wanted to do this, but.. this latest moons, I've been having second thoughts, hopefully you'll understand. I know Spar won't, though." She paused with a sigh, looking at both of their friend. She seemed to be disappointed. "Please, whatever you do, don't tell him." She pleaded, closing her eyes. "I won't," Dandelionpatch meowed, turning towards her again. "I promise."
Riverpool looked up and smiled. She giggled. "Good, or else I was going to start a cave-in with the whole patrol!" She joked, trying her best to bump the taller warrior. He chuckled before pushing her away. Riverpool turned to him, smiling, before catching up to the patrol. She paused, turning her head towards Dandelionpatch. "Just remember that when you're leader."
Riverpool raced ahead of him, he paused, and caught up. They made their way to the camp at last, he raced towards Featherstar's den. "Featherstar?" He meowed weakly. She turned and licked his head, rasping a cough, he shot back. She finished, and looked at him weakly. "I am on my last life, and.. I think greencough will take me to Starclan," She began, pausing, looking at Dandelionpatch's expression. He held back a sob, singaling her to go on. "The twolegs have let their dogs out, it is too dangerous for us to go get catmint this time of year, new-leaf, means more prey, yes, but more danger. The twolegs have been chasing us out. I will die soon." She finished, and stayed her distance from him.
"Go, start telling the clan, now." She insisted, he sobbed, leaving the den. He stopped and turned to her. "Promise me you'll give me a life in Starclan." He asked quickly. She chuckled and nodded, "I promise."
He left the den and ran out of the camp, and noticied Featherstar leaving her den and heading towards Riverclan territory. He followed, blending his scent with the bushes. He saw a jet black tom facing back of him. Tickheart.. Though, he couldn't hear anything due to the loud crashing of the water next to him, but the Riverclan warrior circled Featherstar, keeping his head low.
Suddenly, the old warrior lunged himself at Featherstar, grabbing her neck before throwing her into the waterfall, the tom also scented of bush and mouse; like he was planning this. "Featherstar!" Dandelionpatch yowled, running up to Tickheart. The tom turned to him, leaping at him and pinning him, claw on his throat.
He heard a rustle from the trees, and there Sparrowhawk appeared, lunging at Tickheart. With one tiny scratche and what seemed to be like talking, though, he still couldn't hear, though, the other two were further away from the waterfall, so they could probably hear eachother clearly.
Tickheart dashed off, heading back to Riverclan. Dandelionpatch helped his friend back to camp, he had to go to moonstone. Questions later; he had to tell the clan quickly.
They both came in, Sparrowhawk limping, and Dandelionpatch crying. Sparrowhawk lifted his head. "F-F-Featherstar.. has been slaughtered.. by.." The tom dropped as Riverpool raced over. Dandelionpatch reached out to his friend. "Go, to the moonstone, you must get your lifes."
Dandelionpatch nodded, sobbing, he ran to the moonstone, and began his short journey.
Dandelionpatch raced across the moor, looking for a tunnel to lead him there quicker. He turned and noticed the Thunderpath, and the tunnel is there! It'll cross into Shadowclan territory.. but I won't have a chance of getting hit by a monster, but I'm alone, I'm prone to ambushes..   Dandelionpatch thought about it. He turned towards the Thunderpath and raced across, stopping to catch his breath, he paused. He heard a zoom, and felt a cat pull him. His eye snapped open and looked around, looking up, he saw Redfeather, looming over him.
"Don't give me that look." She hissed. "How stupid are you? You nearly got hit by the monster!" She lifted his head up to reveal the monsters zooming by. "Why are you even out here, anyway? Featherstar won't be pleased. You, next lea-"
"Featherstar is dead." He retorted, standing up to face the she-cat. "Tickheart killed her while she was out. And he would've taken my life if it weren't for Sparrowhawk." He turned away. "Tickheart? That old peice of crowfood wouldn't think about hurting someone else!" Redfeather questioned; glaring at Dandelionpatch. Dandelionpatch glared at the medicine cat, "You're lying." Dandelionpatch glared, turning away from the she-cat.
"You know what I can do, Dandelionpatch. I can make false propochies, ruin your reputiation, I can make it whatever propochey I want, about how you're going to kill us all, or even that you can't be leader." She whispered to him, walking back to Shadowclan's camp. Dandelionpatch snarled, entering the moonstone and looking at it. With a touch of a nose, he appeared in Starclan.
"I am Emberbreeze, the previous medicine cat way back when your father was a kit. I used my wits and heart to guide me. With this life, I give you confidence, use it to stand up for your clanmates, listen your heart, but also listen to your brain." She touched the young tom's head, stepping aside as his father, Lionspirit, came.
"With this life, I give you courage, use it to make the right choices, and lead your clan when others can not." He touched his son's head, smiling. He sat beside Emberbreeze.
"I am your grandmother; and I give you the life of responisability, use it when you need to send out patrols, or take the blame for your own actions." She slowly touched his head, laying down and waited for the rest."
A tiny kit bounced over and smiled. "It's me, Tinykit, you're brother, and with this life, I give you the gift of life. Try your best to protect the cats around you, as you only live one life." The kit leapt up and touched his nose, moving aside.
"I am your mother, and with this life I have you loyalty. Always stay loyal to your clan, and promise to never lead their side unless we call for you." The she poked his head and moved to the other side this time.
"I am Erin, I became friends with Featherstar, and fought beside her during a huge war. With this life, I give you friendship. Make allies, not every cat in a clan is an enemy, but when the time comes for battle, you must pick your clan."
"I am Crowstar, the leader before Featherstar, I lead my clan through a terrible time because I couldn't let go, with this life, I give you acceptance. Accept the past and those who have done wrong, it is much better to focus on the future."
"I am Rubystone, and I give you kindness. Be kind to be your clanmates, apologize, but never forget where your loyalty belongs.
Featherstar smiled, and walked over to the tom, the cats on side by side rows, she made it to the middle, and began. "You have grown so much. From the day you were a small kit, I knew you had big plans." She straightened herself. "With this life, I give you determation. You can drop something, but always try to return to it soon, to resolve it. Nothing is impossible, remeber that." She touched Dandelionpatch's head, beflre going on.
"Dandelionpatch, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and lead your clan fairly?" Featherstar asked. "I promise." He sobbed, and closed his eyes. "And by this point on, I grant you the leadership of Windclan, and the name Dandelionstar." She smiled. Dandelionpatch walked around and talked the cats who have gaven him his nine lifes.
"You must go, Dandelionstar." She meowed, hugging him tight. "We'll all be waiting for you here." He looked at all the cats again, smiling, before waking up. He ran back to his clan.
I am Dandelionstar, and I will always follow Starclan's light, for the safety of not only myself, but my clan.
