Chapter 1

He came back from the moonstone, looking down at his paws before climbing onto the high rock. "Let us cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the highrock." He called, slowly but surely, all cats that were atleast 6 moons gathered under beneath him. He cleared his throat before speaking.
"As some as you may not know, Featherstar, our leader; has been throw into the waterfall by Tickheart of Riverclan," He paused, letting the anger raise up in him from head to tail. Exhaling, he went on. "She could not fight as well as she use too, growing old and a bad case of greencough, she was unable to defend herself from the warrior. And if it weren't for Sparrowhawk, I and Featherstar would've joined Starclan today." He turned towards Sparrowhawk.
"And that is why I chose Sparrowhawk to be my deputy." He finished, trying to read the expressions of his clanmates. He got some disapproving glances, hissing, mumbling, whispering, and glares.. Should I reconsider my choice? No, I think Sparrowhawk will make a great deputy; if he isn't, then I'll reconsider.
"Do you promise to lead the clan fairly, and give your life to protect your clan when I join Starclan?" He asked. "I do." Sparrowhawk meowed, standing up and taking a seat next to him on the lower rock. Dandelionstar turned his head towards Riverpool; who gave him a sad expression. He knew what she was thinking; please, I beg of you, make a medicine cat, I'll try my best; I promise!
"And since Featherstar has not choosen a new medicine cat, I will now appoint one. Riverpool, I know you can handle this task; and you have some medical experience, I make you the new medicine cat of Windclan." He smiled looking down at her, she, along with some other cats, smiled warmly up at him.
"Clan dismissed." He called, jumping down before turning towards Sparrowhawk. "Would you think sending out a patrol would be safe right now? I mean, since Featherstar's death-" He was cut off by his friend. "Of course." Sparrowhawk hissed, turning towards the highrock. "Notuing is wrong, the only reason she called us tunnelers back because she wanted to say how she was going to die.." He growled, scrapping the grass with his long, white claws. He flicked the grass off his claw and turned back to Dandelionstar.
"Do you want me to send the patrol now?" He calmed down, exhaling, tilting his head to Dandelionstar. "Yes." Dandelionstar said simply, pointing towards the Highrock. "Annouce it up there." Sparrowhawk nodded to his friend and watched as he leapt onto the rock. "Me, Dandelionstar, Hawkrose, and Hazeltalon will head out towards the tunnels. Snowpaw, Runninghare, Rustleap, and Streamrunner, hunting on the moor. Mousehawk and Hailspring, make a quick trip around the borders and come back."
He leapt down set his tail on the ground. "Lets go," He meowed, running across the moor with his other two clanmates. Dandelionstar raced after them, each paw step he took they ran a mouse length away, he kept up, somehow, even getting ahead of them at one point.
He lifted himself, and headed out of the den, heading towards the place where they were gonna dig. "We should make one onto Riverclan territory." Hazeltalon meowed, pointing towards Riverclan. "We could ambush them, vegance for Featherstar's death.." Hazeltalon growled, looking over at Dandelionstar. "Wouldn't you agree?"
"Yes, I do, but don't say it so loud." Dandelionstar said, kneeling down the begin the process. "Dig in under this bush, we need someone to guide our way, to make sure no cat sees it. He dug his claws into the dirt, throwing the dirt behind him, singaling Sparrowhawk over. "You two keep watch." Sparrowhawk called, moving rocks out of way for Dandelionstar. He perked his ears up, sniffing the air. "Dande, do you hear that?"
"The sound of what? Monsters driving above me?" He laughed, but got a glimse of Sparrowhawk's expression, which was serious. "Don't worry so much, if something is coming, Hazeltalon and Hawkrose will let us know." He kept digging, this time, perking up his ears.
A scream echoed through the tunnel, Dandelionstar turned to see Sparrowhawk not there. He ran out. Quickly, he leapt out of the tunnel to see a Riverclan patrol attacking them.
No! He made out which warriors were who, on the patrol were Smokerose, Brightclaw, Dogmask and.. Tickheart. He lunged himself at Smokerose, slashing her side and clinging onto her fur. The she yowled, slamming him into the ground, he choked out some blood, before flinging her off.
Smokerose turned towards Hazeltalon, which was a huge mistake. Hazeltalon overpowered the she, and the battle just got alot harder for her. Dnadelionpatch turned to Tickheart, who was servely injuring Sparrowhawk, trying to throw him into the waterfall. "FOX-HEART!" He yowled, throwing himself at Tickheart, kicking Sparrowhawk away from the edge. "Go! Fight Brightclaw!" He turned.
Tickheart laughed, fling him on. Dandelionstar panicked, sinking his claws into the cliff, trying not to fall. He sinked his claws deeply into the ground. Tickheart walked over, grinning. "You're just like Featherstar, how stupid she was. Why do you even try to protect your clanmates? Why don't you abuse your power, shape everything to how you want it, why be so.. nice to them?" Tickhearted questioned, throwing a paw off the edge. Dandelionstar struggled to hold up, struggling to keep his grip.
Suddenly, he braced himself to lunge up, tightening his muscles before leaping back onto the land, attacking the Riverclan warrior vicously like a pack of dogs, he didn't hesitate one bit. Vengance for Featherstar's death! Vengance for nearly killing Sparrowhawk!
Dandelionstar twisted his body, grabbing Tickheart by the scruff before slamming him into the dirt. Tickheart yowled in pain, standing up beforr lunging at him. Dandelionstar moved out of the way, letting him nearly fall off the edge, before he could throw him off, Tickheart got up quickly again, throwing himself at Dandelionstar.
Dandelionstar already knew what was gonna happen, and pepared for it. He leapt up for his arm to chase him off, the final blow. It didn't end out how he planned; he missed his arm, and instead bite his throat, hard. When he realized it, he leapt back. He panted, seeing the almost lifeless tom on the ground, huffing and groaning in pain. The patrol stared in horror, picking him up, they raced back to Riverclan camp in defeat.
Dandelionstar's heart ached with guilt, he didn't mean to bite the tom in the throat, what would the patrol think? He could already imagine their faces filled with horror, anger, and exile for nearly, or probably killing the tom. So much, that he couldn't even turn to face them. He finally built up the courage and turned, looking at their expressions. They were just as he feared; horror or shock, unable to move.
Finally, somebody spoke up. "You mouse-brain you probably killed him!" Hazeltalon yelled in his face. "What were you thinking?! We have to go to war now!" Hawkrose added with a hiss. The words of the younger warriors tore even deeper into his heart; each hiss and word of disbelief ached his heart even more.
"I didn't mean too." Dandelionstar could barely choke the words out, stepping back from his patrol. "I swear on Starclan's tail I didn't!" He begged, kneeling down, giving in to them. "You broke the warrior code!" Hazeltalon spat. Sparrowhawk stood beside him, straight. "The warrior code says an honorable warrior does not to spill blood unless in self-defense, and the safety of the clan is more important than the life of one cat." Sparrowhawk hissed back in Hazeltalon's face. He turned to help Dandelionstar up, convincing her to stand tall.
"I only did it to protect the clan." Dandelionstar hissed weakly. "Lets get back to camp, we're cutting this patrol short." He walked off, not daring to face his clanmates. He hear whispered among Hazeltalon and Hawkrose. He kept walking across the moor, each pawstep leaving him with survivor's guilt. What would have I happened if I was thrown off the edge? Would another clanmate dive in after me just to realize they couldn't swim? Or even been thrown off themselves by Tickheart?
Dandelionstar shook his head to himself. He and the rest of the patrol made their way back to camp in pure silence. I could've lived, I still have nine lifes. The words of Crowstar echoed through his mind. I give you the life of Acceptance. He couldn't accept that Featherstar was gone, and instead considered vegenance against Tickheart, he wasn't ready to be leader.
The patrol arrived into the camp, splitting off their seperate ways. I should have left the clan when I had to chance, at the moonstone, run away to a new life outside the clans, carrying my nine lifes with me, being able to help my twolegs with various tasks; not having to worry about my clanmates. Dandelionstar rested his head on his paws, resting, until dawn.
