CHAPTER FIFTEEN, reuniting with mom
(bennett's outfit for this part of the chapter)
The next day, after school, Bennett found himself pacing nervously around the living room, waiting for his mom to arrive. He was chewing on his nails, a nervous habit he picked up recently, as he glanced at the clock on the wall. She was ten minutes late. Was she standing them up? Was she even going to show? His dad was sitting on the couch, trying to read a book, but kept getting distracted by his son's pacing.
"Can you not do that? You're making me dizzy." Eric complained, his eyes flicking between his son and the pages of his book.
"Sorry, I can't help it. I'm nervous." Bennett admits, pausing to look at his father. "She's late." He furrows his eyebrows when he realized something. "That book is upside down."
Eric pauses, looking at the book he held and rolls his eyes, closing it and setting it on the coffee table. "I knew that." He scoffs. "But she's only late by ten minutes, Benny. Give her a break. She's probably just stuck in traffic."
"But you said the motel she's staying at is nearby. Wouldn't she just walk here?" Bennett mumbles, resuming pacing and biting his nails. "It would be faster." He was worried his mother had changed her mind or maybe decided that they weren't worth her time and left the city altogether. He wouldn't blame her, though. She wasn't required to be in their lives. Clearly, since she missed all eighteen years of his life. He had no idea what she was like, if she was a good person or a bad one. What if she was a drug dealer or an alcoholic or a serial killer? What if she was all three?!
Eric sighs and stands up, walking over to his son. He gently grabs Bennett's wrist, pulling his hand away from his mouth. "Stop biting your nails. And stop worrying. Everything is going to be fine."
"How are you so calm about this?" Bennett asks, frowning at him. "I'm freaking out, dad."
"I'm not calm. I'm super freaking out inside, but I'm trying to remain calm and stop myself from wanting to throw up." Eric admitted, chuckling a little.
Bennett gives him an incredulous look. "That makes me feel so much better, thanks."
"Well, it's the truth. I'm nervous, and I'm scared. I'm worried she's going to rip our hearts out and stomp all over them and do the." Eric confesses with a shrug. "Again." He adds with a sigh. He pauses before saying, "Wait, what was I saying?"
Bennett groans, pulling away from him. "You're so bad at pep talks, dad. Aren't you the mayor of a town or something? You should be good at speeches and stuff."
"I was the mayor of the great town called St. Upid." Eric proudly said as his son sent him a look. "It's a real place! And, I'll have you know, I was a very good mayor. The townspeople loved me. Now I'm a junior senator for New York."
"And you still don't know how to give a good pep talk." Bennett scoffed, shaking his head.
"You don't need a pep talk. You need a hug." Eric decided, pulling his son in for a hug.
"Dad!" Bennett squirms, trying to pull away, but his dad just held him tighter. "You're suffocating me."
"I'm sorry, I can't hear you. I'm too busy smothering you with my love and affection." Eric said, nuzzling his face against Bennett's cheek, earning an annoyed groan from his son and he grinned at that, enjoying annoying his son.
"Get off of me, old man." Bennett said, managing to push him off.
Eric looks at him with offense written on his face. "Old man? Excuse me, I am not old. I'm in the prime of my life. I'm a young, hip, cool dad."
"Hip?" Bennett snorts, looking at him with amusement. He couldn't believe his dad just said that. "You're the least hip person I know. Hipster dads are not cool, dad. Trust me. You're a dad who wears socks and sandals, so you're not winning any points for being hip or cool."
"I'll have you know, my socks and sandals are the coolest." Eric says, looking at his feet. He was indeed wearing socks and sandals, which made Bennett roll his eyes. "I wore these almost all the time during my time as mayor in St. Upid."
"St. Upid isn't a real place." Bennett points out. "You made it up."
"No, I didn't. It's a real place, I swear. Ask anyone. It's right between New York and Quebec, can't miss it...Although it is a small town so..." Eric's voice trailed off as his son looked at him, unimpressed.
"Who came up with that name anyway? It does sound made up." Bennett shrugs and crosses his arms. "It's literally the word stupid but it's produced different. That's a dumb name for a town."
"I think the townspeople of St. Upid wouldn't like you insulting their town's name." Eric scolds him, shaking his head. "Show some respect."
Bennett sighs heavily and shakes his head, running a hand through his hair. "We're getting off track, dad. We're supposed to be talking about mom and not a made up town."
"It's not made up!" Eric argues, then sighs as he rubs the back of his neck. "Anyway, yeah, you're right. Your mom is a piece of work, yes, but...I think we should give her a chance to explain. Maybe her reasons for leaving were good, and maybe they weren't. Only she knows. I think we should listen to her, and if we don't like what we hear, then that's it. We'll send her on her merry way. But at least we'll know the truth, and I think that's what we need."
Bennett nods, listening to his dad's words. "You're right. I need to know the truth. We both do." He looks at the door when the door bell rang, his nerves coming back full force. "She's here."
"Showtime." Eric said, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. He reaches over to squeeze his son's shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, we got this."
Bennett gives him a small, tight lipped smile before going to open the door. He opened the door and stepped aside to let his mom in, feeling his heart pounding in his chest. His mom stepped inside and gives him a small, hesitant smile. "Hi." She greeted, her voice soft and unsure.
"Hey." He responds, nodding a little. "Um, come in."
She nods and follows him inside, her gaze scanning the apartment. "Nice place." She commented, taking off her coat.
"Thanks...Any reason why you were late?" Bennett couldn't help but ask as his dad joined them, watching his mom with an unreadable expression.
His mom's gaze snaps back to his, a sheepish look on her face. "Traffic was crazy." She lies. The real reason was she was trying to get the courage she she needed to finally go through with it. It had taken her awhile to work up the nerve. She takes a deep breath and says, "Look, I know I hurt you both, and I'm not expecting either of you to forgive me now or ever, but I want to explain. Can we sit and talk?" She asked hopefully, glancing at Eric. She had to admit she was take aback by how much he had changed, and she was surprised to see that he was still handsome as ever. Though She shouldn't be surprised, since she had always thought he was the most handsome guy she had ever met.
Eric had been speechless since Bennett opened the door. She still looked gorgeous, and it was like he was in his early twenties again and madly in love. He shakes his head slightly to clear his thoughts, his eyes locking with her. "Talk." He agreed, leading the way to the couch.
"Thank you." She breathes out, sitting on the couch across from him. She was surprised that they both decided to talk to her, and she couldn't help but hope it was a sign of things to come. She takes a deep breath and began telling them the truth. "So, there's a lot of reasons why I left, but the main reason is...Is that I was scared. Scared of becoming a mother, of raising a child...I recently just turned twenty, and was a freshmen in college. I wasn't ready to be a mother, and I didn't think I'd be a good one. And...I was selfish. I wanted to focus on my future and not have to worry about a baby. I didn't plan on having a kid yet, and when I found out I was pregnant, I was shocked and panicked. I freaked out. I didn't want a kid, and I wasn't prepared. I was paying rent and working and going to class."
"I didn't have time for a baby. It was a lot, and I was so overwhelmed. I really did try to stay after you were born...I tried my best, but I just couldn't handle it. So, I ran away. And, I know it was the coward's way out, but...I didn't know what else to do." She finishes, looking down at her hands in her lap. She glances over at Eric with a regretful and apologetic look in her eyes. "Eric, I know it must've been hard raising him on your own...I didn't want to leave you with that burden. I'm so sorry. But, I was selfish. And scared. And stupid. I was young, and didn't have a plan. I made the wrong decision, and I regret it every single day. I wish I could change the past and stay with you guys, get over my fear and be a mom, but I can't. All I can do is apologize and hope you'll both forgive me."
Eric was quiet, staring at the coffee table as he processed her words. She was scared. She didn't want a kid. She had panicked. Her words rang through his head as he tried to wrap his mind around her words. He had so many questions and feelings about her words. He was scared too when he found out she was pregnant. He didn't plan on having a kid yet, he wanted one someday. But he didn't plan on it in his early twenties. When she told him she was leaving, his first instinct was to beg her not to. To beg her to stay. To give him another chance. To give their baby a chance.
But his pride got the best of him. He didn't want her to think he needed her. He didn't. He was able to raise a son without her. He didn't need her, and he wasn't about to chase her. But, he had wished he did. He wished he could've helped her overcome her fears and stayed with them. She had missed out on so much. The first word. His first step. His first day of school. All his birthdays. Everything. All because of her fear and selfishness. She was right. She was a coward. And she didn't deserve a second chance.
"Eric." She spoke softly, reaching out to touch his arm. She shrunk back when he pulled away.
"Don't." He said, his voice sharp and cold.
She flinches, looking down. "I'm sorry. For everything. For leaving, for not staying in contact, for missing everything..."
"You come here now, years later, and expect us to just accept your apology and everything will be okay? Well, it's not. Why didn't you come back sooner? Why wait until now? You couldn't have possibly been that scared, or else you wouldn't have missed your son's childhood. You couldn't have been that selfish, or else you wouldn't have abandoned him, and me. You had so many opportunities, so many chances, but you chose to ignore them and run." He rambles out of frustration, shaking his head as his heart raced. He looks up and met her tear filled eyes. He hated that his heart ached at seeing her tear filled eyes, he still was in love with her, but he needed to keep saying what he's been wanting to say to her all these years. "How could you be so cruel? So selfish? How could you throw your son, and me, away like that? Did you even love me? Us?"
"Yes." She says without hesitation. "Still do." She admits quietly, causing Eric's face to soften slightly as surprise was mixed with his expression. Butterflies had swarmed in his stomach at her admission, he hadn't expect her to say that. "But, I was scared and stupid. I know I have no excuse for abandoning you and our son, but it was a mistake, and I regret it every single day."
Bennett had been quiet, listening to his mom explain her side of the story. He felt his emotions swirling inside of him, and it made him feel nauseous. He knew he should feel angry and hate her for leaving him, but after hearing her story, he didn't feel that way anymore. He had always wondered why his mom left him and his dad, and now he had his answer. She was afraid and selfish, but it was because she was young and didn't have a plan. She wasn't ready to be a mother and she ran from her fears.
He understood that. He's felt like that before. And, although she did hurt him and his dad, he couldn't find it in himself to hate her. Not anymore. He looked at his mom, taking in her sad and scared expression, and knew he couldn't stay mad at her. He wasn't going to forgive her yet, not until he was ready, but he knew he didn't hate her anymore.
Eric sighs, looking down at his hands. "I was scared too. Terrified, actually. I didn't know how to take care of a baby. I could barely take care of himself...I still struggle with that, actually." He admits with a small, halfhearted chuckle. He glances up at her and says, "I didn't have a choice. I had to grow up. I had a child, a baby, to care for because the woman I was in love with left. You just left without a warning or a goodbye. Do you know how hard it is to wake up and not have your girlfriend there? And you have a baby to take care of on your own? I was in college too, working as well. But thankfully I had people who helped. My parents, and my friends. My brother and Shawn even helped some, when they were around. I was a mess, and I struggled. But I was able to push through and take care of our son. I was able to do it all. Without you. So, don't sit here and tell me that you were scared and selfish. Don't use those as an excuse, because you could've talked to me. We could've worked it out, but instead, you left."
He blinks back the tears that were filling his eyes and looks away. "And, it hurt. You broke my heart. I had lost my best friend and the love of my life all in one. I never thought I'd see you again. But after getting that letter, I knew you'd be back. And here you are."
"I am so, so sorry. I made the biggest mistake of my life, and I regret it everyday. But, I can't change the past. All I can do is say I'm sorry and try to fix things, if you'll let me. Please, give me another chance." She begs, her eyes pleading as she reaches a hand over to Eric's, relieved he didn't flinch and pull away again. She meets his eyes and says, "Please, Eric. I'm so sorry. I didn't want to leave you and Bennett behind, but I did. And I regret it, everyday. Please, let me make things right."
Eric looked at her for a long moment, his hand tingling from her touch, and felt a piece of him fall back into place. He realized he missed her and her touch more than he liked to admit, and it made him realize that he was still in love with her. He missed her, and was still in love with her after all this time, despite their past. She had hurt him, and broken his heart, and he was still in love with her. Even if he was angry at her.
He sighs, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath before opening them. "Okay. Fine. But, you can't stay here. And, Bennett doesn't have to see you if he doesn't want to." He added, glancing over at his son to check on him. He could tell that his son was overwhelmed and struggling with the emotions, so he decided to step in.
"No." Bennett shakes his head, meeting his dad's surprised gaze. "I want to see her...I-I mean, I'm sure they'll be days I don't, but...I want to see her. I want to know her." He decides, glancing over at his mom. "If you're serious about being a part of my life, then okay. I'll let you. But, I don't know how fast I'll be able to forgive you."
"I understand, and I don't blame you. I deserve this." She nods, looking down at her hand, which was still on top of Eric's. She was so glad he didn't pull away yet. She missed him and his touch so much. She missed him and Bennett. She was so glad they were giving her a chance, and she was going to make things right. No matter what.
She smiles a little, her fingers intertwining with Eric's. She pauses when he stiffened, her eyes snapping up to meet his. She felt a wave of disappointment wash over her, knowing he wasn't ready. She pulls her hand back, and says, "Right. I'm sorry. That was probably a bit much, huh?" She asked as she let out a nervous laugh. She felt the heat rise in her cheeks, the vulnerability of the moment crashing down on her.
Eric was about to pull his hand away, not ready for any physical contact yet, but her hand felt so right and perfect against his. He had forgotten how nice it felt to hold her hand, and he wasn't ready to give that up yet now that she was back. So, when she started to pull away, he reached out and grabbed her hand, preventing her from pulling away. He felt her eyes on him, but kept his gaze locked on their hands. "It's not too much." He murmurs, finally looking up and meeting her eyes. "I've...I've missed you." He confessed, his face heating up. He was surprised by his own confession, and could tell she was too.
"I've missed you too." She says, her eyes lighting up as a small, hopeful smile appeared on her lips. Maybe there was hope for them after all. "Both of you." She glances at Bennett, reaching her free hand to reach over to cup his face. "Bennett, I hate the fact I didn't stay to raise you, and I'm so, so sorry. If I could, I would go back and change things. I would stay. But, since I can't, I promise I'm not going anywhere this time. But I have to say your father did a great job at raising you. I can tell you're a wonderful young man, and I'm so proud of you. I'm glad we can try and get to know each other now."
"Thanks. I'd like that too." Bennett smiled softly and he couldn't help but lean into her touch, his own hand coming up to cover hers. It was still hard to believe she was back and he was going to get to know her, and he couldn't wait. He had always wondered what she was like, and he was going to find out.
Eric was surprised by his own confession, but was relieved. He was also glad his son seemed to be on board. He knew it was going to be a process, but he was willing to put in the work and effort. He didn't want her to leave again. This time, she was going to stick around and face her fears. "Me too." He admits, his thumb brushing against her knuckles, causing her to look over at him with surprise. She was expecting him to be the hardest to get back, considering what she did, and she was relieved it didn't seem that way. "I've...missed you, a lot. And, it'll take awhile for me to fully forgive you and trust you again, but I'm willing to work at it. I want you in my life, and in our lives."
She pulls away from Bennett to look at him, her eyes lighting up, a hopeful and relieved smile appearing on her lips. "Really? You'd really give me another chance?"
He nods, unable to resist smiling back at her. "Of course. And, it'll be nice to have some help raising a teenager." He joked, chuckling a little.
She laughs, and butterflies swarmed in his stomach at the beautiful sound. Yep, he was definitely still in love with her. "Yeah, I bet so."
"Hey, now." Bennett chimes in, a small pout on his lips. "I'm not that bad."
"Oh, yes you are." Eric teases, earning a glare from his son. "Do you not remember all the pranks you pulled? Especially in middle school? You were a terror."
Bennett rolls his eyes and mumbles, "Was not." He had gone through a prank phase, but he had gotten over it when he realized his dad would retaliate by pranking him back or embarrassing him in front of his friends.
She couldn't help but watch the two bicker with a fond expression. She could tell they had a great relationship, and it warmed her heart. She was so grateful that her leaving didn't affect their bond.
Eric catches her gaze and his smile fades slightly, remembering everything she missed out on. But, he pushes the thoughts away and forces a smile on his face. "Hey, why don't you show your mom your room? You can tell her all about your girlfriend." Eric suggested, earning a blushing and wide-eyed look from his son which caused him to chuckle and look at him with amusement.
"Wait, girlfriend?" She repeats, looking curious. "You have a girlfriend? Is she nice?" She couldn't help but be concerned and protective, and a little sad, considering she had missed out on watching him grow up. She had no idea who his girlfriend was, and she couldn't help but wonder if she was good enough for her son.
"Yeah, her name is Brylee...And it's kinda funny that were together since we used to always bicker." Bennett admitted, his face turning red as he explained to his mom about his relationship with Brylee.
"You two were at each other's throats all the time." Eric adds, remembering all the times they argued. "But, now you're dating. I still can't believe it. I still think the world is ending."
"Ha ha." Bennett rolled his eyes, shaking his head at him.
"Well, I can't wait to meet her." She smiles, standing up. "Lead the way, Bennett."
Bennett hesitates, before nodding and leading her upstairs. She turns and looks at Eric, her smile growing when she saw the small, fond smile on his lips. He looked at her with a warm and soft expression, causing her heart to flutter. Maybe there was hope for them, after all. She was just happy he didn't completely shut her out.
Eric met her eyes, feeling his smile grow when he saw her smile. It was the same one that he fell in love with. His eyes flickered down to her lips, and he found himself longing to kiss her. To feel her soft lips against his again. He had missed her, and it felt weird being near her after all this time. He wasn't sure how he felt, or where they stood. He just knew he was glad she was back, and that she wanted to fix things. He didn't want her to leave again, and was hoping she would stay.
They stayed like that for a few moments, before she reluctantly turned away and followed Bennett upstairs.
Eric let out a breath, slumping down onto the couch. He was glad things went well, but now, he had to figure out what to do. He had no idea what was going to happen, or where they stood. And he was a bit scared. Scared she'd leave again.
He pushed those thoughts aside, and decided he would worry about it later. Right now, he was going to celebrate the fact she was back, and hope that things would work out between them.

(brylee's outfit for this part of the chapter)
That night, Brylee was in her room after dinner. She, Maya, her mom and Shawn had went out to eat, one of the rare nights they went out together. Her mom and Shawn had been busy lately, and it was nice to have them around, even if it was just for dinner.
She had finished getting into pjs and was about to get in bed when she heard a knock at the window. She turned to the window, smiling at seeing Bennett on the fire escape. She was curious to see how it went with his mom, and hoped he wasn't upset.
She walks over and unlocks the window, letting him climb inside. "Hi, cutie." She grins, giggling at the face he made. "What? I'm trying out new nicknames, sugar lips."
"Sugar lips?" He raises an eyebrow, laughing a little. "Cutie is better. Where did you get that one?"
"It was either that or sweet cheeks. So, what do you think?" She asks, grinning when he groaned and rolled his eyes. "Oh! What about, honey bun? Benny bear? Or-"
"Okay, stop." He interrupts, laughing. He didn't think he could handle any more. "Babe, please."
"Fine. Wait, I just thought of another one." She beamed, looking at him with amusement. "It's-"
"No." He quickly spoke before she could say it. He stepped towards her, gently pressing his lips against hers, and she melted into his embrace while kissing him back. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer. She tangled her fingers in his hair, smiling against his lips.
"Fine." She whispers, giggling. Then she quickly adds in the new nickname. "But, you're still my cuddle muffin."
He groans dramatically, leaning his head on her shoulder. "I'm breaking up with you." He joked, his hands sliding down her back, resting on her lower back.
"Aww, no. You can't do that. Then I can't get girlfriend perks at Topanga's anymore." She pouted, resting her arms around his shoulders.
"That's all you're worried about missing if we broke up? Free pastries? I'm offended." He pretended to be hurt, making her roll her eyes and chuckle.
"Oh, stop. You know that's not the only thing I'm gonna miss." She says, kissing his cheek. "But, are you okay? I mean, you're joking, so I'm guessing it went okay, but...Are you really okay?" She asked softly, wanting to make sure he was okay. She knew it had to be hard, and she didn't want him to shut her out and try to act like it was fine. He did that sometimes, she did that too, but she was determined not to let him do that. She was here for him, no matter what.
He smiles softly, cupping her face. He was so glad he had her, and he never wanted to lose her. "I'm okay, babe. I mean, I'm not going to lie, it was hard. Really hard, and overwhelming. And, it hurts that she left. But, she's back now and were gonna try to fix things. She wants to be in our lives, and I'm giving her the chance."
She smiles and kisses him gently, glad he was giving her a chance. She was proud of him for that. She knew how hard it was, and he was strong for doing that. "I'm happy for you, Ben. That's amazing."
"Thanks, sweetheart." He murmurs, kissing her forehead. "Now, I actually came here for a reason."
"Oh? What is it, pumpkin?" She asked, giggling when he groaned.
"Okay, we need to come up with a new rule. No ridiculous nicknames." He told her with a small chuckle.
"Not even, honey bun?" She teased, earning a playful shove from him which made her giggle.
"Nope, not even honey bun." He chuckles, wrapping his arms around her waist. "But seriously, I wanted to thank you for being there for me today. It meant a lot to have you by my side."
"Of course, Benny." She smiles, leaning into his embrace. "I'll always be here for you, no matter what. You're my cuddle muffin, after all." She couldn't help but add with a grin.
"Please, for the love of all that is good, stop." He pleaded, his hand moving down her back.
"Never, sweet cheeks." She laughs, squealing when he tickled her sides over her ribs where she was ticklish. She squirms, laughing as she tried to get away from his tickling fingers. "Okay, okay! I'm sorry! I'll stop!"
"Promise?" He asked, not stopping his tickling.
"I promise! I promise, baby cakes!" She giggled, trying to pull his hands away.
"Baby cakes?" He asked, pulling his hands away, giving her a questioning look.
"I'm sorry, okay? But I have a bunch of other ones too. Like, snookums, hot stuff, sexy pants, hunkalicious-" She started, grinning when he groaned and buried his face in her neck, causing her to laugh.
"Don't ever call me any of those ever again." He murmured, his warm breath against her neck causing her to shiver.
"Aww, what about-"
He pulls away, pressing his lips against hers before she could say another ridiculous nickname. "You're lucky you're cute." He mumbled against her lips.
"Is that all I am? Cute?" She asked, a teasing tone to her voice. She felt giddy and butterflies swarmed in her stomach. She loved the effect he had on her, and hoped she had the same effect on him.
"Cute, funny, smart, talented, amazing, gorgeous, and so much more. But, mostly, you're annoying." He joked, pulling away.
"Ouch." She pretends to be hurt, her hand over her heart. "You wound me." She pouted dramatically, earning a chuckle from Bennett.
He smiles, cupping her face gently. "You know I love you, right?" He smiles, cupping her face gently. "You know I love you, right?" He murmured, his thumbs stroking her cheeks. His heart skipped a beat at her bright and beautiful smile. He loves her so much. He didn't think he'd ever get tired of seeing her smile, or the way her eyes lit up.
She wraps her arms around his neck, giggling. "I love you too, cuddle bug."
Before he could protest, she leaned up to kiss him, silencing his complaints. He sighed into the kiss, kissing her back as one hand moved to the back of her neck to pull her closer. The butterflies in her stomach swarmed, and she smiled against his lips. She didn't think she'd ever get tired of his kisses, or how happy and safe she felt in his arms. She didn't want to be anywhere else. When she pulled away, he rested his forehead against hers, his eyes still closed. He couldn't help but smile at the way her fingertips were running through his hair. He was so in love with her, and was grateful he had her in his life. She had helped him through so much, and he hoped he was doing the same for her. She had gone through a lot too, and he was happy he could help her and comfort her.
"Are you going to stay tonight?" She asks, her eyes flickering open, meeting his warm gaze. Her fingers continued to run through his hair, and her smile grew when he hummed and leaned into her touch. "You don't have to if you don't want to. Just figured you might not wanna go back home after everything."
"If it's alright with you, I'd love to." He smiles, kissing her cheek. He was just glad to be near her, and he knew he'd feel better staying with her. "It's been a long day." He sighs, leaning his head against her shoulder. "Just wanna be with you."
"Well, I want to be with you too, so you're more than welcome to stay. Now, do you wanna watch a movie and cuddle, buttercup?" She asked, biting back a grin as she kept running her hands through his hair.
"Sure, as long as you promise to never call me buttercup again." He chuckled, lifting his head off her shoulder to peck her lips. He took her hand and leading her over to the bed. He sat down and pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her.
"No promises." She grins, leaning back against him as she tried to ignore the way her heart fluttered and the way her face turned red at being in his lap. "But, what do you want to watch, babe?" She questioned, leaning over to grab her laptop off her nightstand.
"You pick." He told her, his arms wrapped around her, and his chin resting on her shoulder.
"That's too much power." She giggled, opening her laptop. "Okay, how about..." She trails off, her fingers typing on the keyboard. She found the movie she was looking for, and turned her head to look at him. "This?"
He glanced down at the screen, a smile tugging at his lips when he saw her choose, "The Breakfast Club." He nods, kissing her cheek. "Sounds good."
She smiled and clicked play, settling back against him as the movie started. She relaxed, resting her hands on his, as she watched the movie. About halfway through, she felt herself slowly starting to drift off. She was exhausted, and his warmth was soothing. She let her eyes slip closed, feeling her body go limp. She was barely aware of him carrying her to bed, and placing her under the covers, before he laid down next to her. The last thing she felt before she fell asleep was his arms wrapping around her and his chest pressed against her back, and his soft lips kissing her shoulder, causing her to smile in her sleep. He smiled fondly at the sleeping girl, before he too, let his eyes slip closed and drifted off to sleep.
