Chapter Fourteen

The aftermath of Evelyn's attack was surrounding Tony, the streets of Stuggart Germany were littered with dead bodies. The scene was horrific, Tony was both repulsed and mesmerized all at the same time. He walked slowly, on high alert for his sister who was undoubtedly still in the surrounding area.

"Sir, there is a heat signature to your left." JARVIS told him. His vision switched to infrared, and he could see the silhouette of a tiny figure down an alleyway to his left. He needed to subdue her quickly before she used a portal and they lost her altogether.

He walked as silently as his metal suit would allow, and peeked around the large brick building to see Evelyn standing mindlessly in front of a large metal door. Her eyes were glowing the same color as her hands, which were held out in a permanent defensive position. Loki was clearly using her to guard whatever was behind that door. It didn't take a genius to figure out what was behind it.

He knew she would blast him as soon as she saw him, the only way to take her down would be from above. He wasn't sure if her new abilities included any advanced healing, so he needed to be extremely careful in how he attacked her. She might be fighting to kill, but he was not. And hurting his little sister was not on his list of things to do that day.

Tony turned around and jogged down the street before quickly taking to the sky. He kept his sights on the heat signature that was his sister, until the moment he was directly above her. He shot an explosive at the ground beside her, which knocked her off her feet but also allowed him to quickly descend down to her and tackle her into the ground.

"Eva, it's Tony." He grunted as Evelyn fought against him. She had rolled over and shot a blast at him which pushed him into the wall behind them.

Evelyn's once green eyes that were the perfect mixture of Howard's brown, and Maria's blue, now almost had a mind of their own. The bright color swirled around her pupils and she glared menacingly at the brother she did not recognize.

"Your name is Evelyn Jane Stark, you were born on April 10th, 1985. I know you're in there!" Tony grunted, dodging another blast from her.

"I am loyal to Loki." She told him. She then used a portal to drop on top of him,  proceeding to blast him in the head.

Tony hated fighting with his sister, but he couldn't deny that under Loki's mind control she was very much using her powers to the best of their abilities. She had mastered using her portals before, but this was the first time she needed them in combat and she was using them effortlessly. Her energy blasts were something she definitely hadn't been practicing with as she had no intention of using them -- ever. But watching her you would never know that, they were like an extension of who she was.

"Sir, your body armor is at 35%." JARVIS alerted him.

Tony knew he needed to get her quickly, before his suit ran out of health and he soon joined the bodies of the dead that were already laying on the ground around them. He also knew he needed to get her out of there before the German authorities came to try and arrest her.

He winced as his fist came in contact with her face, it hit her with enough force from his suit to knock her to the ground. Blood was already streaming out of her nose and onto her chin. She raised her hand to blast him away, Tony was quicker and turned her hand on herself so she wouldn't.

Evelyn tried to open a portal under them to escape , but Tony's hold on her wouldn't let go.  They both went tumbling to the side, with Tony once again on top of her.

"I'm so sorry." Tony said softly before knocking her across the head several times until she fell unconscious. The glow in her hands disappeared, and they went limp at her side. Tony fell off of her to catch his breath, all the while having JARVIS scan her body for injuries. Luckily nothing was severe.

"Stark, you copy? We've apprehended Loki. What's your status?" Tony heard Natasha through his ear piece.

"I've got her," he responded. "I'm coming to you."

Tony carried Evelyn up to the Quinjet the second he saw it arrive in his sights. He laid her down on one of the benches before turning around and punching the God of mischief across the face. Anger couldn't even begin to describe the feeling that was coursing through his veins, and the cause of it was all Loki himself.

Evelyn had slowly been getting through the traumas she had endured in the last couple of years, along with a devastating loss that nearly destroyed her. Tony and Evelyn both saw each other in their darkest hours, but both were beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Tony knew when Evelyn was herself again and she saw the destruction and death that she unknowingly caused, she would go spiraling into a depression so deep that nothing could bring her out of it.

"Why her?" Tony growled, poised to use his fists as much as he could. He felt a strong hand pull his arm down, and looked to see a disgruntled Steve standing beside him.

"You could have taken the tesseract without her." Steve added.

Loki simply smiled at the two men and leaned back in his seat.

"Your mortal is strong, I've never seen a human like her. " Loki told them.

"You made her kill dozens of innocent people!" Tony shouted, tears rolling down his cheeks as he remembered the destruction that was caused by Evelyn. "This is going to kill her."

"I simply had her guard something for me, the rest was up to her."

It wasn't but a second later that Steve had knocked Loki across the face with his shield. Loki's head rolled to the side before glaring menacingly at the Captain.

"There's no arguing with evil," Steve mumbled before walking off and kneeling in front of Evelyn's unconscious body. He set his shield aside before gently pushing some of her brown hair out of her face.

"Come back to us, Eva. I know you're in there." Steve whispered before placing a kiss on her forehead.

The Quinjet suddenly seemed to hit some rough air, and was knocked from side to side. A storm was evident outside the glass windows. Both Tony and Steve took notice of the rigid form that took over Loki the second the lightning hit.

"Scared of a little lightening?" Steve scoffed, crossing his arms across his chest.

"I'm not overly fond of what follows." Loki responded.

The back to the Quinjet was forced open before a large man with long golden hair entered, he grabbed Loki before disappearing out into the sky. Tony slid his helmet down before flying after them, leaving Steve behind. Steve wasn't going to let Loki get away with what he had done, and started to quickly strap a parachute onto his body.

"I'd sit this one out Cap! These guys come from legends, they're basically Gods!" shouted Natasha from the pilot seat.

"I'm not letting him get away. Tony's suit didn't look so good, I'm not sure how well he'll be in a fight right now. " Steve told her. "Eva must have done a number on him."

"You go then, I've got Eva." Said Natasha. Steve nodded her way before leaping out of the back of the jet.

Evelyn slowly allowed her eyes to flutter open, wincing instantly at the light above her in the back of the Quinjet. Her head was throbbing, she could feel a pulse behind her eyes as she took in her surroundings. Her body was in agony, but that was nothing compared to her mind when the memories all came flooding back to her.

The bodies. There were so many bodies lying on the ground around her, and she was at the root of all of the chaos. Every death had been by her hands, so many people had been taken away from their families and it was all her fault. Her mind might have been taken over by someone else, but she was still in there. She was still hidden away inside her mind while Loki directed her to kill anyone on sight. She remembered it all. She remembered them all.

She glanced behind her to find Natasha flying the Quinjet, a S.H.I.E.L.D agent as her copilot. She also remembered trying to kill Tony, but he wasn't on the jet with them. Evelyn wasn't sure where they were or where they were headed, but her anger clouded her judgment to stay where she was, and she soon opened up a bright blue portal that took her right to the God of Mischief himself.

~

Evelyn found Loki on the edge of a cliff, he almost looked bored and the sight of his face sickened her. She raised her hand and blasted him, causing him to fly backwards off the cliff and into the tall trees below them. She was quick to portal down to his location.

"I see you're back to yourself." Loki grumbled, grabbing onto a pine tree to pull himself to tower over her tiny frame.

"Why?" Evelyn growled, her hands held out in front of her in defense. "Why did you do that?"

Loki's smile chilled her to the core. He had no sense of regret or remorse for anything he had done, and he was clearly taking pleasure in Evelyn's trembling frame. She was trying her hardest to not crumble in front of her captor, she was trying to appear strong and threatening to him. But every time a face of one of the many lives she took crossed her mind, her facade was broken down just a little bit more.

"You could never understand the potential your mortal form is giving you! I was helping you! In time you will see that." Loki exclaimed, taking long strides closer to her.

"There were so many bodies," Evelyn whimpered. "You killed so many people."

Loki chuckled and shook his head. "No, my dear. You killed them."

Evelyn's eyes snapped up to meet the bright green eyes in front of her, her stomach churned and it was taking everything in her to keep her form steady.

"You're right. I did." Evelyn whispered. "What's one more going to hurt?"

And with that she blasted Loki with both her hands, she used as much force as her body would allow. She was not letting Loki leave this forest alive. He flew through the rows of trees, several of them cracking at the impact before slowing falling to the ground with a large thud. Evelyn ran after him, stumbling over tree roots and dodging falling limbs.

Loki was pushing himself up off the ground when she reached him. She quickly created a portal under his feet that exited a hundred feet above them, he once again fell face first into the dirt.

"Fight back!" Evelyn shouted, noticing Loki wasn't even bothering to defend himself. She shot blast after blast at him, with him taking every bit of damage she was throwing.

She yanked him up by the forearm to kneel in front of her, before placing her arm around his neck, her free hand she held against his temple. She didn't blast him that time, she built up the energy in her hand, allowing it to flow into Loki in the most painful way. He grunted under her hand which gave her cause to increase the power.

She felt another presence around them, and glanced up from her torture of Loki to see a man she had never seen before. He had long flowing golden hair, a red cape whipped around behind him, and in his hand -- a large hammer.

"My lady, I wish you to please release my brother." He said calmly, pointing his hammer in Loki's direction.

Evelyn saw no similarities between the handsome man in front of her, and the snake beneath her glowing palms.

"You don't know what he's done to me!" Evelyn shouted back to him. "You don't know what he's made me do."

The man took a hesitant step towards the pair, his left hand clutched the hammer with whitening knuckles, and his right hand was held out in a position of surrender. His eyes fleeted between both pairs of green eyes before him.

"I can imagine he's done horrible things. And I assure you he will face justice in Asgard." The man told her.

"Asgard," Evelyn whispered. "You're Thor?"

Thor nodded his head in response. He was slowly and tentatively making his way closer to them, and it was making Evelyn grow increasingly anxious.

"And what about the justice he will face here? Everything he has done, it's been here on Earth. I won't let him get away that easy." Evelyn told him. Her anger caused the power in her palms to increase, releasing a groan from Loki himself.

Evelyn watched as Thor's eyes shifted behind her, and she glanced over her shoulder to see her brother. The sight of his broken suit and blood running down his face, knowing she was the cause of it all, left a bitter taste in her mouth. She blinked away the tears that were accumulating before turning back to Thor.

"Let us take him, Eva." Came Tony's soft voice behind her.

Evelyn begun to slowly release the power she was flowing into Loki, she was so close to letting her brother take the God away from her. But the visions once again came flooding into her mind. The bodies in Germany. The destruction of the S.H.I.E.L.D base. How she attacked Nick, and her own brother. How Clint was still not himself.

And she changed her mind.

She opened a portal beside her, and quickly drug Loki through. It closed behind her, and the pair of them were gone.
