EPILOGUE
Late night Surprise, guys *Muah*
Enjoy!!!
*******************************************************
A mini-van, school bus, stopped and Rashi climbed down. She adjusted the slings of her Dina the Princess Doll school bag on her shoulder and walked with her head lowered. She played with the orange water bottle that hung around her neck. Like a good girl she has finished the entire water bottle, her mother will be happy.
She opened the gates to Shekawat Bungalow and walked in. Rashi's day at school was good minus all the attention and pampering Amrita Devi got and few students made fun of her, Rashi, for messing up on the stage. She had felt like crying but then she had remembered her father saying that strong people never cry also she remembered what her mother had said- no matter what she is the winner for them, and only that matters.
Rashi held the string and pulled on it, a stylish metallic doorbell rang. She looked down
'Oh no! Mom is going to scold me for this.' She thought staring sadly at her muddy black school shoes.
She was about to bend when the door opened.
'Rashi!'
She looked up and smiled at her mother. Sanyukta beamed at her daughter. She felt little bad because she looked very weary. How much a school burdens a six-year-old.
'What happened, Bacha? Why the sad face?' Sanyukta asked as Rashi removed her bag.
She sighed and said, - 'Nothing.' Sanyukta suppressed her smile as she looked at her baby's sad pout. Without meeting her mother's gaze and with her head lowered Rashi climbed upstairs to her room.
She unlocked the door and entered.
'Papa!' Rashi gasped
Randhir had his back to her and she noted he held something that he fumbled with. He turned around and looked like he had just been caught stealing.
'What are you hiding, Papa?' Rashi asked eyeing her father suspiciously. Randhir smiled nervously. Rashi walked up to him and tried seeing behind him but Randhir kept hiding the thing.
Sanyukta entered the room, she leaned against the door and crossed her arms. She watched the father-daughter duo with a smile.
Randhir is trying to hide the thing while Rashi is jumping around her father trying to see what is behind him.
'Randhir. Don't torture our baby na.' Sanyukta pretended to sound hurt. Randhir looked at her and the two passed each other a knowing smile.
Rashi's eyes darted curiously from Randhir to Sanyukta and back again. Randhir walked towards her, smiling widely. Slowly, he moved his hands from behind.
Rashi's eyes widened.
'DINA THE PRINCESS.' She jumped on spot clapping her hands. Sanyukta happily walked in.
'OMG! It has a robotic dinosaur also.' Rashi looked excitedly at her father. 'It is the latest.' She gushed happily.
Rashi pounced on Randhir and thanked him profusely.
'Nothing for Mommy.' Sanyukta pouted. Rashi and Randhir broke apart and smiled at Sanyukta.
'Mamma.' Rashi raised her arms and ran towards her mother. She hugged her tight and the two of them swayed little.
Rashi grabbed the box and was about to tear it open when Sanyukta interrupted her.
'Rashi.' She called sternly. Rashi paused and looked at her mother.
'First, go and wash your hands and have lunch.' Sanyukta pointed towards the bathroom. Rashi began whining and groaning.
'Come on, Sanyukta let her enjoy the moment.' Randhir defended his daughter. Rashi looked gratefully at her father.
Sanyukta glared at Randhir.
'Chalo, Rashi. First, wash your hands and let's have lunch.' Randhir switched sides. Rashi sighed sadly.
