Ch. 15: The Emperor's Castle

Luz let out a sigh as she walked down stairs a couple days later. Today was the day of the emperor's castle and thankfully, Amity wouldn't be there. Her conversation with her dad didn't really help, but it also didn't really hurt.

Maybe she would be ready to talk to her about these...feelings later. But for now, Luz would just focus on the school field trip and what to expect from it.

"Need something to pick you up?" Eda asked, drinking some tea and seeing Luz's expression.

"Depends on what you're offering." Luz said before asking. "Why are you wearing a scarf inside?"

"I'm just a little chill this morning. It's why I'm drinking hot tea." Eda said, wearing a yellow scarf around her neck.

Luz gave her a look.

"Do I look stupid?" Luz asked.

"Do you want an honest answer?" Eda asked with a grin.

"I can see your soul, Eda. Meaning I can see the curse has been growing inside you." Luz said blankly, "Take the scarf off."

'Damnit, kid.' Eda thought while sighing a bit, putting her cup of tea aside before she took off the scarf.

Her chest gem was now in full view and Luz could see its once amber color was now a mix of amber and black, with the black nearly eclipsing the amber.

"I fucking knew it." Luz said.

"yeah yeah, you fucking knew it. My curse is getting worse and my elixirs are becoming less effective." Eda said, looking at her gem. "I gotta limit using my magic or else I could become the owl beast 24/7."

"Why didn't you tell me!?" Luz said, "I could've found something in my book!"

"Sorry kid, but there's no telling what you could do to me with that thing." Eda said, "What if it fucks me up even worse?"

Luz took out the book and flipped through a couple pages. She held up a hand and it glowed black. Eda disappeared in a cloud of smoke and reappeared as a giant Lego version of herself.

"...Okay, that was unexpected." Luz said.

"What the hell did you do to me?! I feel so boxy yet bloated!" Eda said, looking over herself.

"Uh... okay you may have a point." Luz said, "I'm still learning spells okay?"

"Well can you undo this? I don't even have fingers anymore! Just these weird clamp hands." Eda said, holding up her "hands" and clenching them. "I feel like a crab, kid."

"Yeah... totally." Luz said, flipping through her book.

'Shit, shit, shit, shit!' Luz thought.

Luz kept flipping, before slamming her book shut and growling.

"FUCK! Can't find anything!" Luz shouted.

"You mean I'm stuck like this?! This better be temporary or so help me-" Eda stopped talking as blocky feathers grew out of her body. "Oh shit."

Luz couldn't help but take out her phone and take a picture.

"I hate you so much right now." Eda said before becoming full Owl Beast, made out of individual Legos.

Luz looked at this problem for half a second... before quickly breaking apart the lego lady and making her into a Lego castle.

"Tada! That should work until I find an elixir." Luz said, "Okay, Eda the Castle Lady, I'll be right back to give you your medicine... somehow."

'Hopefully that doesn't cause issues when she returns to normal.' Luz thought.

Searching Eda's room and closet, Luz found an entire 20 potion case of anti curse elixirs.

"Perfect." Luz said, picking up the case and heading back to the den.

Luz wasted no time and forced one into Eda's... honestly she isn't entirely sure where she's pouring it, she just hopes it's the mouth... nothing.

"Okay....so it's gonna take more than one. That's fine." Luz muttered, grabbing another bottle.

And then another

...

...

And another

...

...

...

...

and another.

'Okay, now I'm starting to really worry about what Eda said about her curse getting worse.' Luz thought as she force fed Eda her 6th bottle. 'Just start working!'

15 bottles... that's how many it took to bring Eda back.

"Okay, good news, you're back, bad news... you're still all... blocky. But you aren't shaped like a castle so..."

"Luz." Eda growled.

Luz groaned as she shook her head.

"I'm sorry, okay? I just wanted to help you. I don't want to lose one of the closest friends I've had in all my life." Luz said.

"You're not going to lose me." Eda said, "Well... you might if you don't fix me."

"I tried, okay?! Plus, this might be temporary." Luz said, gesturing to Eda's "Lego-ness."

"Can you guys keep it down? I'm still sleeping." King said, coming in from the kitchen before seeing the situation. "Why is Eda blocky with crab hands?"

"Uh... would you look at that, time for school, bye!" Luz said, rushing out the door.

"LUZ!" Eda shouted as the door shut behind Luz.

"Eda, I'm still confused". King said before pocking Eda's plastic dress. "Is that plastic?"

"Don't touch it, I can feel that like it's part of me!" Eda said.

King pulled his claw back with m his hands up.

"Sorry, sorry!" King said, moving back a bit.

Eda sighed.

"Ever since Grom, Luz has been messing up spells and avoiding problems."

"Sounds like you." King said.

"I know and I don't like it." Eda said, before trying to go to the couch, "Hold on... I can't move, I don't have feet!"

With Luz she arrived at school.

Her bag was on her shoulder and her book was in her hand as she was still looking for a spell to turn Eda back or to confirm the spell she used was only temporary. She closed her book and sighed.

"Well, at least it's says it's temporary... but I know better than to trust a demon book, it can lie." Luz said.

'Even when you've had this thing for years?' Devil side asked.

'Yes, even after all this time. Just because you own a demon book doesn't mean it isn't tricky.' Luz thought as she put her demon tome in her bag.

She met up with Willow and Gus, still thinking about how to help Eda.

"Hey, Luz, are you ready for today's field trip?" Willow asked, excited.

"Field trip?" Luz said before remembering. "Oh yeah, sure. Sorry, i had a busy morning, it slipped my mind."

"Well get ready, because we're going to see some of the most incredible artifacts the Isles has ever seen!" Gus said, holding out a booklet.

Luz took the booklet and looked over at artifacts part of the booklet.

'Let's see. The Green Thumb Gauntlet grow whatever the user can imagine by increasing their plant magic 10 fold. Interesting.' Luz thought as she read the next one. 'The Oracle Sphere can reveal the path within yourself to make you your best self. Really? That would make about everything in my life much easier.'

It was then that Luz felt her breath hitch as she read about the third artifact on the booklet page.

'The Healing Hat was made from the magic of witches in the Savage Ages. And It is said to cure the deadliest diseases and heal any CURSE?!' Luz thought as her jaw dropped from this.

This is it! This is what she needed! The answer in how to save Eda was RIGHT HERE!

'I'm stealing that hat.'

'Hell yeah we are!' Devil side shouted.

'I'm not one for stealing but healing Eda makes it a good thing.' Angel side said in agreement.

"Alright, children! The bus has arrived!" Principal Bump said as a large beast flew down.

It was a fusion of a dragon and a gondola with 5 rows of seats in its body.

"... The longer I'm here the more I'm reminded that I don't have to pretend to be human." Luz said.

Luz gave Gus the booklet back as she walked into the "bus" and pulls out her demon tome.

'May as well do some light reading and planning for what I'm going to do and who I am going to fuck up to get that hat.' Luz thought.

She felt someone look over her shoulder as she read. Without even looking, she knew who it was.

"Skara, I do not advise trying that." Luz said.

"EEEEP!" Skara let out, ducking down behind the seat. "I didn't see anything!...But why shouldn't I do this? You said nobody but you could touch it, does that apply to seeing it without permission?"

"The only way you could see this without dying, would be to sell me your soul, because that's the only way you wouldn't have your brain melt out through your eyes." Luz said.

Skara's curiosity got the better of her, and she has been speaking with Boscha and Amelia about this.

"... I... I've thought about selling my soul." Skara said.

Blinking twice from this, Luz spun her head around 180 degrees and looked down at Skara.

"Come again and why?" She asked.

"Because...well, I would be lying if I said I didn't want to be left alone if all my friends are going to hell with you when they did, but mostly it's because I'm interested in hellish music." Skara said, slowly raising up. "I mean, I'm interested in human music too but hell music must be an entirely new beast."

"Well, this would be a permanent, so take some time and think about it before coming to me with your decision." Luz said.

"I know but-" Skara stopped as Luz spun her head back around.

"No if, ands, or buts, Skara. Think about it more and then I'll accept your soul." Luz said, reading her book again.

Skara sat back down and crossed her arms.

"Fine." Skara said with a pout, even if she was already planning on selling her soul to Luz.

Being pseudo immortal and living longer with her best friends was worth it to her.

'She's pouting like a literal child.' Luz thought, not taking her eyes off the book.

'She'll get over it or just come to us when she clears her head. Whichever comes first.' Devil side said.

Luz kept reading until they made it to the castle.

"Alright students, single file and no pushing." Bump said as the bus landed before the castle of the Emperor's Coven.

Luz looked up at the castle.

'Dad's castle is bigger, and much cooler looking.' Luz thought.

Luz put her book in her bag and stepped off the bus with her hands in her pockets.

"So, what do you think of the castle?" Willow asked.

"Do you need to ask? Look at her face, she's not impressed." Boscha said, walking up to Luz.

"But it looks so cool." Gus said.

"Gus, I was born in a castle, I was raised in a castle, I had an entire army of servants that would give me the world if I asked for it... seeing castles just doesn't impress me." Luz said, "Plus it's... basic."

Luz pulled out a picture and handed it to her friend group.

"This is my house." Luz said.

The picture was a castle so big that it might have its own zip code, made of black stone and looked like something right out of a horror novel... the lava moat didn't help that look.

"That sits right in the center of Hell, in Sin City, and is heavily guarded by no less than 6 million guards." Luz said.

"SIX MILLION?!" Gus, Willow, Boscha, Amelia, Skara, and Cat shouted in shock.

"Yep! Humans have been dying since the beginning of time. Earth's population compared to hell's population is like a glass of water in a swimming pool and that's putting it lightly." Luz said, "Now let's see what's so great about this castle."

The bridge of the Coven castle began to extend towards them, making everyone gaze at it as Luz took the picture of her home back. They all went on the bridge as it went back towards the castle and waiting by the doors as their tour guide was a small demon woman with two connected hands for her hair.

"Greetings, children. My name is Kikimora and I'll be your guide in today's tour of the Emperor's Coven." Kikimora said.

'Ugh, what is that thing?' Luz thought.

Luz had never seen a demon like that before, either at home or here, and it was disturbing. She technically had four hands, and two of them were almost useless.

"Question." Luz said, raising her hand.

"Oh, an eager one." Kikimora said to Luz. "Go ahead."

"How do you use shampoo and conditioner?" Luz asked, tilting her head.

"... I hold the right to refuse to answer that." Kikimora said, before noticing something about Luz, "You look... familiar."

"Not surprising, I am the demon that everyone's been talking about." Luz said.

"Ah yes, the princess of the underworld in the Human Realm." Kikimora said, "I do hope you enjoy the tour."

"I do too." Luz said, giving a "friendly" smile.

'Just until I get that healing hat and get the hell out of here. Not like they need it if they keep it in a trophy room.' Luz thought, 'Now how to make sure no one messes with this. Maybe I can turn Boscha into a vase to keep look out if that would fit in the room.'

A possibly emergency or key part of this was including the friends of which she possessed their souls. Nothing too bad, just be look outs or distractions to help. But first she needed to see the room to see if there was any cameras or ways to get caught, after that, she could figure out things out. She did pull Boscha and Amelia away from the ears of the group though.

"I need you guys to give me your rings." Luz said, "Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything to you... yet... I need to hold onto them for right now."

"Why exactly?" Amelia asked.

"Don't worry about it, I just don't trust this castle a bit and I wanna keep them safe while we're here." Luz said, somewhat lying, "Besides, I'm not going to do anything stupid with them, they're your souls. I couldn't destroy them if I tried."

She could, quite easily actually, but they don't need to know that.

"I mean, it would be impossible to say no." Boscha said, "You literally own us."

They handed Luz their rings and Luz put them in a secured location on her person.

"Thank you for being so kind." Luz said.

"Again, you own us, we couldn't say no if we tried." Amelia said.

"And remember that the next time you hit me with a potion filled balloon."

"You just won't let that go, will you?" Amelia asked.

"Maybe in a few hundred years."

'So well after we die and are in Earth's hell.' Amelia and Boscha thought.

"Excuse me, ladies. Try not to lose the group!" Kikimora shouted at them, waving her hand in the air.

"Coming, Ms. Kikimora! Sorry!" Luz shouted back.

Luz raised a hand and used two fingers to give the 'Follow me' motion. Amelia and Boscha did so.

'She better not do something dumb, those are our souls she has.' Boscha thought.

'I almost regret selling my soul but the mega healing is a big upside.' Amelia thought as they followed Luz.

"Children of Hexside, it is my great honor to welcome you all to the Emperor's Coven." Kikimora said as she opened the castle doors for them.

Inside was a massive entrance, with ceilings as tall as trees.

'Okay, not bad.' Luz thought, as the students entered the castle.

"This is home to the Emperor and his coven members." Kikimora said, "Play your cards right and maybe one day you to shall call this place home."

Most of them looked excited as they looked around the castle corridors while various coven scouts walked around them.

'Okay, this isn't that bad.' Luz thought, 'The place is pretty decent for the location, the outside just makes it look lame.'

The tour kept going, when Lilith... covered in feathers, dirt, and a bit of blood... walked by.

"Stupid blocky bitch." Lilith mumbled, "Stupid Owl tube thing."

'Sounds like someone was at the Owl House... and failed... again.' Luz thought, 'At least she didn't get turned into a tree at this time.'

"Oh, what a pleasant surprise." Kikimora said, looking forward to annoying Lilith, "Children, this is Lilith Clawthorne, the Head of the Emperor's Coven. I'm sure she can spare a moment to explain her latest mission."

Lilith glared at Kikimora.

'There is no trust in this coven, the fact that demons have more trust for each other scares me.' Luz thought.

"Sadly, I cannot give details." Lilith said, "But I hope you enjoy the tour... good luck with puberty."

And with that, Lilith walked off and into a room.

'I'm tempted to follow her but if I do, I might miss the relics room.' Luz thought.

'Then create a shadow minion to follow her. It will watch what she does and report back to us.' Devil side suggested.

Luz pulled out Boscha's soul and had an idea. She quickly waited until the group was about to leave before changing her soul into a shadow and sending Boscha off to follow her.

'What the fuck!?' Boscha thought.

'Stay calm.' Luz thought to her, 'I need you to help me. Follow Lilith and tell me what you find.'

'Are you crazy!? What happened to my body!?' Boscha said.

'Don't worry about it.' Luz thought, 'Now go.'

'I better get a mansion when I die.' Boscha said.

Accepting her surprise mission, Boscha rushed off on the floor to catch up with Lilith.

'This better be good.' She thought before she saw Lilith and instinctively merged with her shadow to hide, 'I don't know how I did that but cool.'

Though unaware of Boscha, Lilith felt a slight shiver as she rubbed her arms.

"Ugh, must be a draft." She said before cleaning herself of the feathers, dirt, and blood.

She walked towards Belos, before kneeling.

"You requested me, my liege?" Lilith asked.

"Yes, I did but give me a moment, Lilith." Belos said, looking a bit weak on his throne and breathing heavily.

'What the heck?' Boscha muttered in surprise of his condition.

Luckily, being a shadow meant that nobody could hear her. A person in a golden mask and white cloak walked over and handed something to Belos.

'Is that... a palisman?' Boscha said, 'What is he going to-'

Boscha was cut off when she saw it getting cut open by Belos' finger.

'WHAT THE FUCK!?'

If Boscha could feel her stomach, she would be feeling extremely nauseous as she saw Belos raised the cut palisman above his ahead and let its insides/liquid magic flow through his mask's eye holes!

"Aaah. That's the stuff." Belos said in relief, feeling much better as his eyes gained a green glow.

If shadows could go pale, Lilith's would be whiter than Amity's complexion. With his power restored, Belos dropped the palisman as it crumbled to dust before it hit the floor.

"Now, onto your report about the owl lady and the half-human she is housing." Belos said.

'Luz.' Boscha said before listening closely.

"As it turns out... the demon wasn't there." Lilith said, "Sadly, that bird tube was."

"Ah yes, the strange worm-bird house demon. Quite unsettling but back to the main topic. Having heard some of the rumors surrounding this "halfling", I believe she must be brought in and informed on how things work according to the titan's will." Belos said.

"With all due respect... no one wants to even look at her." Lilith said, "She's dangerous, and everyone in the Coven knows it."

"Is this true?" Belos asked, looking around at the coven members in his throne room.

Slowly, all of them began nodding and voicing their agreement. Luz truly was a MONSTER and they valued their lives too much to harm her if they could.

"I see.....then maybe we should try for "peaceful negotiations" before things escalate any further." Belos said.

"I don't think that monster knows what peace is." Lilith said.

'She does, she just chooses not to do it sometimes.' Boscha thought.

"Regardless, if she is as powerful as you say, we must convince her to peaceful means or else I will have to take drastic measure." Belos said.

"Please, Emperor Belos... she's too dangerous to use desperate measures... and if she has that book-"

"Book you say?"

'Oh shit! Luz's book!' Boscha said in shock.

Even if Luz says nobody but her can use it or even look in it, that might not work against someone as powerful as the emperor himself!

"It... it's on her person at all times, she can use it to fight. It's-"

"Then take it." Belos said, "Remove it from her possession and she isn't as tough as she likes to say."

"I.....We do not know if she can summon it back to herself." Lilith said.

"Then put it in a way it can't return to her."

'Okay, I think I've heard enough. I have to warn Luz!' Boscha said before quickly separating from Lilith's shadow and slipping into the shadows of the columns.

"Yes, emperor." Lilith said, unaware that Boscha was exiting the room and rushing off to warn Luz.

With Luz, they arrived at the hall of relics. Luz made sure to keep Amelia's soul out incase she needed her to become something to help.

"Welcome, children, to the hall of Relics." Kikimora said as everyone began looking around. "Proceed with caution, these ancient treasures have been around since the beginning of civilization. Any one of them lost would be like destroying history itself."

"Woah." Luz said, "These things are ancient? They look brand new."

"But of course. We do our best to preserve them with the best witches we can find." Kikimora said to Luz. "Are there any that catch your eye?"

'Better not tell her what REALLY catches my eye. It'll make it easier to steal.' Luz thought.

"Mmm, can you tell us about that? The bottle with the golden liquid?" Luz asked, pointing to the LITERAL potion relic for the Potion's Coven.

"Really? What does it do if you drink it or use it?" Luz asked.

"No one knows, and it's best no one finds out." Kikimora said.

"There's one missing." Amelia said, noticing there's no Construction Coven relic.

"Ah, yes, that's sadly a relic that was lost to time, went missing centuries ago." Kikimora said, "What's known is only that of the legends and stories. It was called the Hammer of Michael Enkinger."

"Wait... Michael Enkinger?" Luz asked, "... He built Church of St. Anne in the human world back in the 1400s! He was from the Boiling Isles!?"

"Wait, how do you know of Michael Enkinger and how do you know what happened to him?" Kikimora asked as everyone turned to Luz.

"Because he's in Heaven with my grandfather." Luz said.

"Heaven?" Kikimora asked, confused by this.

'Oh my goodness, do they not have heaven here?' Angel side asked in surprise.

'You have realize that outside of my friend group, most don't know about human afterlife.' Luz thought.

"It's where good people in the Human Realm go when they die." Luz said, "And hell is where bad people go when they die."

"Really? And who is the one that casts judgement on humans before death?" Kikimora asked.

"My grandfather has a list of rules for humans to follow, don't follow them, you'll be in trouble." Luz said.

"And humans know this?" Kikimora asked.

"Most do, some don't, and some do but they do what they shouldn't anyway. Humanity has freewill and they can do what they want whenever they want." Luz said, "The afterlife is one of humanity's biggest mystery, and they will never truly know about it."

'I see. Interesting.' Kikimora thought as she rubbed her chin. 'I'll have to share this information with Emperor Belos.'

As some of the class was listening to Luz and the rest were gazing at the relics, none of them saw Boscha's shadow rush into the room!

'LUZ! Finally I found you!' Boscha shouted, which only Luz could hear.

'What did you find?' Luz thought.

'Freaky shit but I'll break it down! Belos ate a palisman, he wants to "negotiate" with you, he wants to steal your book, and he's fucking horrifying in person!' Boscha quickly explained.

'Really? This negotiate bullshit that's actually a trap?' Luz thought before returning Boscha to normal, 'I sort of expected that.'

"Why are you not concerned by this?" Boscha whispered.

"Because I'm not going to fall for anything he tries." Luz whispered, before looking at Amelia.

'Okay, this should work.' Luz thought, shaping Amelia's soul to make her a look out without showing any suspicion.

'What? Why can't I move?' Amelia thought.

'Don't worry. You're just helping me with something.' Luz thought.

'Luz!?' Amelia thought, 'Wait... am I a fucking vase!?'

'Yes, but don't worry. I'll turn you back soon.' Luz thought.

'WHY AM I A FUCKING VASE?!' Amelia thought.

'Because that's the only thing in here besides the damn relics, and it would be too suspicious of you were one of them!' Luz thought.

'And you think this will distract everyone?!' Amelia thought.

"Ms. Kikimora, what relic is this?" Someone asked, noticing Vase Amelia near a pedestal.

"Hmm, this vase? This isn't a relic." Kikimora said as she walked over to it. "What in the name of the Titan could it be doing here?"

This drew everyone's attention as Luz grinned, seeing her distraction was already working.

'There you go.' Luz thought before gazing at the Healing Hat. 'And now, to get Eda's new hat.'

Boscha facepalmed... she can not understand HOW Luz got away with that.

"I swear, she's the luckiest half demon alive." Boscha muttered.

'Damn right I am.' Luz thought as she quickly pulled out her demonic tome. 'Now let's see if I can quickly make a new one and switch them out.'

Luz quickly flipped through and made a copy, quickly switching the two and hiding the real one in the same place she puts her book. Thankfully, no one noticed, they were focused on Amelia... sadly... someone knew.

'I'll let her play for now.' Belos thought.

"Guards, tell Lilith I have a mission for her." Belos said.

"Yes, sir!" They saluted before running off to find Lilith.

With the group, Amelia was thinking to Luz.

'I swear to Lucifer Luz, turn me back!' Amelia thought.

'I will when no one is looking, it would be weird if you returned to normal with a hundred eyes on you.' Luz thought.

Luz quickly put her book away as she joined everyone as Kikimora picked up vase Amelia to examine.

"I will say this, the vase is very well crafted." Kikimora said.

'Please don't drop me.' Amelia said.

'Don't worry, you're basically invincible.' Luz thought

'I still prefer not to be dropped!' Amelia shouted as Boscha came up to Kikimora.

"Can I have a look at that? My family has a history of identifying rare artifacts." She said but this was a lie.

She just wanted to get Amelia out of Kikimora's hands.

"Hmm. I think it would be better to keep it here for now." Kikimora said, "If it's here, then Emperor Belos must find it very important."

'LUZ!' Amelia screamed.

'You're fine.' Luz thought, 'You'll be back to normal once the tour continues.'

"Come along, children. Let us continue the tour." She said.

Once they were around the corner, Luz returned Amelia to normal. The vase remains in Kikimora's hands like a hollow shell, leaving Amelia to return to her form beside Luz and Boscha.

"I hate you both right now." Amelia said, wiping away her tears.

"We know but it didn't got to waste." Luz said, patting her satchel.

"Besides, look at the bright side, you were one beautiful ceramic."

"Hmph." Amelia huffed as she crossed her arms, walking ahead and away from them.

"Okay, so you need time." Boscha said.

And it was at this point Luz stopped paying attention to anything, she just zoned out the rest of the tour... when you have two voices constantly arguing in your head, you learn how to zone out pretty easily. Before she even knew it, they were in the castle dining room/mess hall for lunch.

"Alright, students. This is the break portion of the tour where you will be having your lunch. Please, feel free to partake in the best cooking we have to offer." Kikimora said.

'Yep, my favorite subject... I need to some raw meat.' Luz thought.

'Luz, we can still hear your thoughts.' Boscha thought.

'I know.' Luz thought, walking ahead.

'You're a strange individual.' Amelia thought.

'As if you two haven't shared a corpse.' Luz thought.

'That...that was different.' Boscha argued, blushing as she and Amelia glanced at each other.

'Right...also, you both better get together or else I'll basically marry you both by bonding your souls together.' Luz thought as she got her food.

This left both of them a blushing mess.

"You guys okay?" Skara asked.

"Luz did something, didn't she?" Cat asked them.

"I don't wanna talk about it." Amelia and Boscha said as they walked ahead to get lunch.

Cat and Skara looked at each other in confusion, before just brushing it off and accepting it.

"Wanna eat together?" Skara asked.

"Sure." Cat said before they walked to get lunch.

"So... would you give Luz your soul?" Skara asked.

"....Tell me you didn't." Cat said.

"No! I'm thinking about it and...I already tried but she said no and I should think more about it." Skara clarified.

"Then maybe." Cat said.

"I mean... it doesn't sound that bad honestly." Skara said, "Near immortal, stay with the others, not to mention that Amelia and Boscha are going to be very well off for being friends with Luz."

"That is true but you should look at the downsides. You'll have to watch people you love die." Cat said.

"Yeah, but... I'd have to do that anyway... besides, there's one person that I care about that might end up in hell one day." Skara said.

"Oh?" Cat said, "Who?"

"Well, there's this... girl I like." Skara said, "And I'm pretty sure she's going to sell her soul to Luz."

"Willow?" Cat asked.

"Willow?!" Skara shouted in shock. "Why the-"

Cat's grin said it all, making the bard shock growl as she blushed in embarrassment.

"You like me, but you're too scared to confess." Cat said, "I've kind of known for a while, but I've been waiting to see if you would actually get the nerve to ask."

"I... and what would you do if I said I do like you?"

"I would be very honored if you went on a date with me, maybe Saturday?"

"A date? Saturday?" Skara asked.

"Oh, I would love to." Cat said, "You can pick me up at 8."

Cat walked ahead with a Cheshire grin as Skara was left blushing and confused, mostly confused since she was tricked into confessing to and asking out the girl she liked BY the girl she liked.

'What the fuck just happened?' Skara thought.

Shortly after the meal, the tour continued, and soon after that, the school went back to Bonesborough. Luz felt pure joy at the fact that she just robbed the government... yeah her angel and demon side were having an entire debate on whether robbing a government building to help someone was a good or bad thing... Luz was tuning them out. Little did she know, she was being followed.

'I let her get to Edalyn's home, and then I can capture Edalyn, finally get her healed, and take that book that girl has.'

Lilith was using a simple mix of camouflage and noise canceling spells would've been enough to hide her presence but for good measure, she flew from a distance with her staff. It was going to be easy.

Once the carriage landed, Luz booked it to the Owl house.

"Luz, wait!" Skara called out for her but she was already gone.

'Eda, you're welcome when I get home!' Luz thought with a smile, running like a blur on all fours through the forest.

Luz was very excited. She had Eda's cure in the palm of her hands and the Emperor was none the wiser!

"Most powerful witch, my ass! He ain't got nothing on me!" Luz said in glee, jumping over a fallen tree with a backflip.

Yes, she was that happy. She didn't even bother saying hi to Hooty, she just kicked open the door and saw the, now normal, Eda.

"Eda, I'm home, and I have something that you're going to love!"

"Whoa! Is it new door hinges?" Eda asked, jumping up from the couch.

"Nope! It's something better!" Luz said as she slammed the door shut.

"SO MUCH PAIN! HOOT I THINK YOU BROKE MY BEAK!" Hooty shouted.

Luz reached into her bag and pulled out the healing hat.

"Tada!"

"Wait... is that... you robbed the government!?" Eda yelled, "... I am SO proud of you!"

Eda got up and hugged Luz, making the half demon hug her back as they smiled.

"Awwwww." King cooed.

"Alright, enough of this mush. Let's cure mama." Eda said as she pulled back and kneeled before Luz. "Do the honors, kid."

"Gladly." Luz said, raising the healing hat up.

That's when the hat was hit by a blast of fire, making them all turn and see Lilith, staff out.

"Apologies for not calling ahead, but I am her on official business." Lilith said, smirking.
