The broken Pt. 1: Broken Ribs

Clarisse 3rd POV

Clarisse cried into her best friend's shoulder as Nico lit Chris' shroud on fire. Percy held the shivering girl as her boyfriend's funeral continued on. She remembered all the amazing memories that she had made with Chris and how much she was going to miss him. She remembered being told that the son of Hermes had been lost in the battle with Gaia. Her life had just spiraled out of control after the shocking news. Chris had been everything to her and now he was gone forever. Nico had assured her that his soul had gone to Elysium along with all the other brave souls that had died during the battle, but it didn't ease her conscience in the slightest. The only thing she had left was Percy who had been there for her the entire time, much to Annabeth's dismay. As Chris' funeral ended, Percy, Clarisse, and Annabeth walked to the beach, which had become a frequent hangout spot for the trio.

''Thank you guys for being there for me, it means a lot.'' The daughter of Ares said to the couple.

''Of course Clarisse, that's what friends do for each other. They help each other through hard times.'' Percy gave a small, friendly smile to Clarisse.

''Ya, no problem Clarisse.'' Annabeth's tone clearly stated that she could care less about Clarisse's problems as she applied some make-up.

"Ignore her. She's kinda in a bad mood since today was supposed to be a date night.''

''You sacrificed your date to help me? Percy...'' Clarisse rubbed her arm and looked down.

"No no, really its fine Clarisse. I always help out friend when they need it, even if that means I have to pay a small sacrifice. It's worth it in my eyes."

Clarisse teared up slightly and gave Percy and hug. She then pulled away, still holding his arms.

"Percy Jackson, you are single handedly the nicest person to have ever lived."

"Ah, really it's nothing Clarisse. It's just kinda what I d-."

Percy was interrupted by Annabeth clearing her throat, signaling to Percy that she was bored and that it was time for them to leave. Percy gave Clarisse one more heartfelt smile before slinking away behind Annabeth. Clarisse just sat on the beach for a while thinking about Chris and Percy being there to help her.

Percy 1st POV

''What. The. Hell! We were supposed to have a date today but instead we had to spend time with that stupid bitch Clarisse!'' Annabeth yelling at me had become kind of a normal thing in recent weeks. She always made sure it was behind closed doors as not to embarrass me, or at least that's what she told me.

Chiron had let us make a special arrangement that allowed Annabeth to stay in my cabin, no funny business allowed of course.

''Clarisse needed our help. She's going through some stuff right now and we need to be supportive!'' She had become like this ever since she became the architect of Olympus.

"Did you just raise your voice at me?'' I started to shiver, cause I knew what was about to happen. I remembered when this first started and I dared argue back at her. It scarred me even more that Tarturus.

"N-no! O-o-of course not. I w-would never do that.''

"Liar!'' Annabeth screamed.

The first smack that came across my face just stunned me, but the second knocked me to my knees and made me yelp.

'You're so weak Percy. You're lucky that I'm with you cause if I wasn't, people would walk all over you. What do you say for my kindness?'' Annabeth started to file her nails over me. I once believed that she was wrong but as time continued, I started to realized that she was right. I was just a weak moron who could get walked all over by anyone if they wanted. I was nothing more than a tool for people and gods alike to use.

''T-thank you Annabeth." I had picked up a stutter when I got scared and it pissed Annabeth off big time.

'Without the stuttering.'' Her cold eyes pierced my heart and sent waves of cold through out my entire body as she curled her nose upward as if disgusted with me.

''Thank y-you Annabeth.'' There it was again. This time Annabeth's fist wrapped around her file and she looked straight at me. There was malice in her next sentence.

"I said. Without. Fucking. STUTTERING!" Annabeth's foot came down hard into my left cheek, leaving a small gash as I screamed out in pain. She then crouched down and brought her hand under my chin and pulled my face close to hers. "I'm only hard on you because I love you Percy. If I wasn't, the people out there would eat you alive. Now, once more without stuttering.''

"Thank You Annabeth.'' I had managed to keep the stutter under control for one sentence.

"There, was that so hard?'' I shook my head no in response knowing that it truly was. "I knew you could do it Percy. But, I'm going to have to punish you. No dinner and you're sleeping on the floor tonight.''

"Yes Annabeth.'' I managed again.

With that said, she dropped my head and I fell to the floor, just shaking there for a while. My body continuously hurt now because of the bruises I got from her. The ones on my ribs from last week still haven't healed fully so I couldn't lay on my side without being in discomfort. I had disobeyed Annabeth and went to go visit Jason and Piper in New Rome by myself. When I got home Annabeth screamed at me and slapped me, throwing me to the ground. She then repeatedly kicked my ribs for what felt like an hour. She just repeated the same line she always does. I'm only hard on you cause I love you. That line always struck fear into me, mostly cause I thought it was true.

After an hour or two, Annabeth left for dinner and I seized the moment to crawled toward my bed. I had hidden a stash of ambrosia under a loose board that I had found underneath. When I got to the bed I reached for the board and pulled it up. I quietly moved it and snatched up the small, crumbling piece of ambrosia. I took a small nibble out of it and started to feel instantly better. If Annabeth ever found my stash, she'd most likely punish me so severely I'd have to go to the healing ward. So I had to continue hiding this extra carefully. I took a couple more small bites before returning the stash to its hiding spot and then crawled back to my original position, making sure I didn't leave any traces of anything before I moved.

A few minutes later, Annabeth walked through the door and went straight to the bathroom. After she came out she gave me a kiss on the forehead and climbed into my bed and fell asleep almost instantly. As I laid on the floor, I kept thinking to myself that I got so lucky with such a loving girlfriend. Sure her methods are a little harsh but it's all worth it. Now people won't be able to walk all over me! I smiled at the thought and eventually dozed off.

A/N

So I decided to take a darker take on the original concept of the story because why not. I also wanted to bring awareness to male abuse in relationships. It happens a lot more than most would think so I thought this would be a good way to represent it in my story. The story will still play out mostly the same with a few minor changes to accept this new plot line. Thank you for all of you're guys' patience and I'll do my best to update more frequently. Anywho, that's all I got for you today and I'll see you all next time. Have a great day!
