I'm Off On A Journey!
Elise's P.O.V.
Should I tell the others about my objectives? Nah. It would be even harder to set off outside the walls knowing they would've wanted to stop me.
"Should I bring some jars..?" I murmured to myself as I packed a bag silently in my room. Definitely bringing a sack full of notebooks to jot down everything that happens! True, I'm not only excited, but scared at the same time I guess you could say.
Yes, I am scared. Of what lay beyond these walls made out of our enemy. What new things I will see and feel along the way. I had packed a heavy bag in less than half an hour with all the necessities, and I laid down calmly on my bed, feeling like lead as my eyes closed slowly.
~~~~~~
Growling broke the silence, growing louder like a crescendo until it was as loud as drums.
"Hello?" I looked around in he black abyss, but no thing or person replied. The darkness creeped in from no where, as if it were seeping through the walls of my own mind. Footsteps clicked and clacked. Finally, a sound.
"Do not deny your power. Save both Titans and humans." I looked in the direction of the sound of footsteps, but the inky dark only made it able to see the silhouette of the man. It had to be a man. No woman's voice could be as low as his.
"And why is it me who possesses this power? To whom do I 'thank' for this horrible fate?" I replied angrily, feeling my confidence bounce back as I stood in the depths of my own mind.
"Is it too much for your father to wish for his own daughter's safety?" The countered, and even though my mouth opened, nothing came out. I walked closer to the silhouette, alas, it seemed forever out of my reach.
Something stirred in my room, and quiet curing seemed to float into my conversation with the shadow.
"Whoever is in my room, leave now or see the depths of hell for yourself." I called out to the intruder, but only heard chuckling.
"I'm not gonna see hell until you see it first, Shitty Snow White." Well, Levi seems to be being himself. I almost smiled if it weren't for my lip being bitten by my teeth. Then, suddenly, there was the small noise of an animal. Most likely a bird of some sort.
"Take this." I sat up, looking at the large bird in a whicker cage. It was a falcon, with feathers a deep brown, while it had eyes that were totally black. The reflection of the fire in the room flashing off them. It squaked at me before setting its head back into its smooth feathers and falling asleep. I smiled, racing off my bed to take a closer look at it.
"Where did you get it?" I asked happily. Levi smirked, looking away.
"I have connections."
"You sound like a pedophile when you say it like that." I pointed out cheerfully, since nothing could bring down my mood now. Especially not this corporal.
"Bitch."
"Shorty Jerk!"
He carefully placed he cage in my hands, and went storming out; with what seemed like a brewing storm above his head. What should I name it? Well, if my horse's name is a musical symbol, might as well name this guy after a musical scale. It's only right.
"How about..." I thought pentatonic, but I needed something cooler! And with an easier nickname.
"Chromatic!" I concluded, and in that moment, chromatic raised his head and looked at me blankly before setting his head back on the cage floor.
"Chrome it is." I smiled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lé time skip.
"Write a status to us about every week. And if we don't get one, you're truly on your own then." Erwin explained, handing me a map of the walls and a large canteen. Chrome stood tall on my shoulder; which I had padded to keep her talons from digging into my shoulder. She nudged her face on my own almost anxious to begin our journey.
"I understand, and I promise to send extra letters to you about my findings so I don't have to carry them all." I added to his statement. I looked briefly at Levi, and found him staring at me just as coldly as ever. Erwin saw this too, and made some excuse that he needed to 'file some paperwork'.
You traitor.
"Stay safe." I heard his voice from nowhere, and it took me off guard really. I stared down at the midget, and saw that he had come closer to the horse now. In his eyes I swear I saw a flash of something else.
Sadness?
Longing?
...Lov- no. Not going to even see that as a option. I stared back at him, unable to stop the smile spreading across my face.
"Stay safe as well, Corporal." I replied. I couldn't stop the words once they had left my mouth, and I heard him sigh.
"Alright. Come back in one piece, because there's something I need to talk to you about." He didn't make eye contact with me, but I could tell it was a serious matter.
"What? Tell me now corporal." I said, hoping he'd just come out and say what needed to be said, but he simply turned on his heels, and walked back into HQ.
"Damn short man." I mumbled lowly. It was barely sunset, the enormous ball of fire kissed the sky as I rode off over the fields I had trained for a year and a half.
Only this time, would I ever see them again?
This is the story, of how I died.
