All Hope Is Lost.

Listen to the song!!

Eren's P.O.V.

How?! HOW CAN ELISE BE DEAD??! My whole body felt numb, and I could barely breath. I felt a soft hand on my shoulder and I turned to see Mikasa.

"I'm sorry. Eren." She pulled me to her in a strong hug. How can we live without seeing her again. I was the one to break the news to the men in our dorm while Mikasa did this with the girl's dorm.

"What's this about, Eren." Jean sneered. He's always the one closest to Elise other than Levi, Mikasa, Logan, and Armin. "You look like you've been crying an awful lot. What, did Mikasa reject your love?" I clenched my hands behind my back. Around her arm.

Levi said this would help explain to the boys, but afterwards, he wants it back.

"Jean, I'm crying for a very good reason, and soon enough, you will too." I tried to stay as calm as I could. But horse-face snorted and gave me a suspicious look.

"Out with it already!" Berthold stated, leaning over the railing of his bed. I lowered my head in sadness just thinking. Thinking about her lifeless body with a twisted angle.

"Elise is.." I began, feeling a thousand knives through my body with every word.

"Is dead."

3rd person P.O.V.

It seemed the Scout Regiment had become a pit of darkness from what it was before. So many knew Elise, and many more knew their father. Honorably, they both died like legends.

But still, they're both dead.

So, days past.

Months, too.

Soon, summer changed to autumn, then to winter once again. And Levi found himself standing alone in the music room. It has long since been abandoned, no one able to have the talent or key to enter.
Levi fiddled with the music room key in his hands, walking over to the black out curtains drawn with seven inches of dust. He drew them back with all his might, and golden light flew into the room from the falling snow. He could now see all of the contents stored away with great care in the room.

There was a violin, viola,

Even a cello Levi had bought with his own money hoping that Elise would suddenly appear in the room one day, like she always did.

A flute lay open in its untouched case.

And then there was the beautiful piano. Levi sighed heavily. Dust coated every key almost as much as the curtains, and he sat down at its stool softly. Resting his hands on the ebony and ivory places, he knew, no matter how much he played, he would never be as good as her.

Even in death.

So he began his own song, letting his fingers flow where they wanted, and soon, there was a melody. True, he learned much from Elise, but there was still so much more. He focused his mind on Elise's face, the smile brought on from playing this old thing. One foot after another, one note at a time.

He remembered how their blades danced as they flew through the air at the Titans.

The Dancing Blades, Petra called the attack, during training, of course.

Feeling as free as a bird. The white and indigo wings of freedom. He crescendoed to a metso-forte, then went back to a soft, low melody. His hands played faster than he had ever tried. There were so many things he wanted to say,

But alas, such little time, to keep the one he loved safe. Because he now realized the answer to Richard's question so many years before:

Why was Levi in the Survey Corps?

For Shitty Snow White. Ah, the bickering they had together.

Winter finally melted away all of the frost, leaving new dandelions and poppies in it's wake.

As for Levi and Eren? They moved on as well. Kept her safe in their hearts; and once in awhile, when the Snow White moon would rise anew from darkness, the thought of only Elise's pure white hair as it flew free between fallen Titans would pop into their minds.

For Levi, all hope was lost for him. His heart has been broken many times before, but he was always prepared. Now the squad seemed too quiet without Elise's grumbling of Levi's height or jerky attitude.

Let's not forget Mikasa and Armin, who were now seen frequently by Eren's side, coaxing him out of his room with sayings of,

"It wasn't your fault" or,

"She wouldn't like to be remembered like this!" Because in the end, to them, it didn't bring her back, nor would it lift the weight on their hearts.

Erwin entered the music room just as Levi finished the song in a sad chorus. But there was a look of concern on his face.

"Levi," he addressed his comrade, "the Titans have somehow broken through Wall Rose. They're coming." Levi parted from the instrument room, closing the door slowly behind him and locking it from the world once again.

----------------

The brave soldiers of the Survey Regiment set out with fear in their hearts, but bound to fight until they die. Eren didn't care anymore. He simply wished the fight to be over, and the only way he knew that was going to happen was through fighting. They reached the south side of Wall Rose, where the supposed damage was. But they still had a long way to go.

"Everyone!" Erwin called out. "Split into four groups! North, South, East and West. Avoid contact as much as possible, and try to just spread the word. The South squad will contain more members than the others so once they've gone their way, they can focus on finding the damaged part of the wall." Erwin explained, and no one said a word. The clomping of the horse's hooves were only outmatched by the growling in Sasha's stomach.

"This is the moment of truth, People!"

And there go the scouts, split up into four squads as they race onward past the grassy hills they called home.
