Chapter 3: Go Go Gadget TARDIS
You ran behind the Doctor right up until he ran into a giant blue box labeled 'Police'. The door swung shut behind him.
"What the hell is this?!" You shouted at the door. After a few seconds he opened it again.
"It's complicated! Get in!" He said. He went to go back in when he saw you cross your arms. He spun back to you.
"Why on Earth would I go in there?!"
"Just get inside!" He grabbed your arm and yanked you inside a bit too forcefully.
"Ow!" You yelped.
"Ow?!" He asked, turning toward you.
"My arm!" You said yanking back your arm from him. That was when you looked around you. It was beautiful. Immediately you walked backwards out of the strange thing and looked on either side of the box, sticking your hands out to feel the air on either side. You walked around and looked at the back before sticking your head in the door way again.
"How?" You asked the Doctor, who was now laying out the evidence for your parents' murder on the floor.
"Complicated. Close the door."
Hesitantly, you walked in and closed the double doors.
"Now, what do we know?" He asked as you walked toward him spinning in circles. You sat down in front of him and dragged your eyes down to the evidence.
"That someone killed my parents to make it look like a suicide because they... Found a new species? I don't know that part's weird. And that my brother's picture is missing."
"Right, so, we need to focus on what doesn't make sense," he continued.
"We need to figure out what they found."
"Exactly, so, we need to do a scan of all Earth and see if there what's there that shouldn't be."
"What do you mean?" Your eyes followed him as he stood up.
"Creatures that shouldn't be here. Species' that don't exist yet, that sort of thing."
"And how can you do that?"
"Look around you." He grumbled at your stupid question. He turned on the monitor hanging from the console and hit strange symbols on the screen until it was scanning Earth. A match. Right outside your parents house. Where you and the Doctor were.
Time Lord.
"Well besides me," he mumbled sourly. You looked up at him. He pressed another symbol on the screen. The monitor made an angry ding back at him. "No of course not." He growled.
"What is it?" You asked.
"There's nothing. No life forms here that don't belong. Not even new species in the area. Whatever your dad mentioned in his log, it doesn't exist."
"Well what about that Time Lord thing? What was that?"
"Me." He said walking away from the monitor to pick up the photos of the crime scene.
"So... You're a creature that shouldn't be here?"
"If you like," He said turning the picture horizontal to vertical and back again.
"Where should you be?"
"Technically nowhere."
"... Are you an alien?"
"Yes." He turned to look at you. "Okay with that?"
"Yeah, I'm great. I think," you said raising your eyebrows. "Anyway, where do we go from here? With the case?"
"We need to find out who killed your parents, then have them explain what happened. Work in reverse. So," He started, turning toward you. "Who wanted your parents dead?"
"I don't know. They rarely left the house and even when they did it was just to buy food. They never talked to anyone and they had no friends. The only family they had was me and my brother, maybe my friend Andrew."
"You're friend, Andrew, tell me about him," He continued, crossing his arms.
"Well he was as much my parents' child as me and my brother were. We all get along amazingly when we're not arguing about my parents' death."
"Arguing? Why?"
"Well I'm the only one out of the three of us that think it was a murder, Andrew and I are always bickering about it."
"What about you and your brother?"
"I haven't really spoken to him since their death. He kind of cut himself off from everyone, but Andrew tells me he's been talking to my brother, at least a little bit."
The Doctor then looked as if he was thinking really hard.
"What is it?"
"Nothing, for now. Call your friend for me."
"Andrew? What for?"
"Just call him, don't say anything, just dial the number."
You shrugged and pulled out your phone. The ringer went off for a long time before Andrew answered.
"Hello?"
"Andrew?" The Doctor asked.
"... Who's this? Why are you on my friend's phone?"
"She's right here, go ahead, say hi."
"Hey Andrew," You sighed.
"I'm the Doctor, I want you to tell me about her brother, what was it again?"
"Connor? You want me to tell you about him?"
"Yes, you've been talking to him haven't you?"
"A-a little."
"Good, what has he said? What do you talk about?"
"I don't know... The weather, I guess."
"You know what I think?"
"W-what?"
"I think you killed her parents, and he saw. So you locked him away, or killed him, who knows, and when his sister got suspicious, you told her you'd spoken with him. That's what I think."
"I'M SORRY, WHAT? THAT IS THE CRAZIEST-" He interrupted you by placing a finger over your mouth. There was a long silence.
"I-I should go," Andrew mumbled quickly before you heard the call end.
"WAIT WHAT THE HELL JUST-"
"He killed your parents we know that now," The Doctor said before moving around the button and lever covered console, pressing things.
"W-Why?"
He stopped in front of you with his hand on a lever. "Let's ask him." He then pulled the lever and you were thrown to the ground as the whole place flipped and flopped and shook.
"Christ!" You groaned as the Doctor struggled to keep a different lever down while hanging on.
"Hang on!" He yelled over the groaning of the machine.
"Now you tell me?!" You pulled yourself to your feet just as the machine swerved and you went flying into the Doctor, sending you both to the ground. As you slowly opened your eyes, rubbing your throbbing head, the machine came to a stop. You pushed yourself off the ground and felt the back of your head. Sticky.
"Bloody hell...," You moaned as you used the console to prop yourself up. You looked at your hand and saw blood. You had hit your head against the floor a bit too forcefully. You blinked away the fuzz and looked around for the Doctor. He was already off the ground and walking toward the doors. "What even is this thing?"
"It's my ship. It travels."
"So where are we?"
"Andrew's front yard. Come on," He said holding open for you. You figured now wasn't the time to worry about your head, and put your hand over the injury as you walked past him. He obviously noticed something. Hopefully this wouldn't be like every other head injury in the movies and knock out the heroine in the most important scene. He shut the doors just as Andrew came running out of his house.
