Festival
When Saturday came, Mikhail was in high spirits as he could not wait for evening to come so that he can have his date with Vanessa. Of course, the news of them getting together had spread like a wildfire among Jenock.
Unsurprisingly, Muraku had simply told him that he was happy for them and left the matter alone after that. Kageto...no one could tell exactly what he thought about it but Mikhail could tell that he was also glad for them.
The downside though was the barge of questions from the girls sans Yuno since she already knew. But he felt that he could put up with it.
"Oh, there you are." Vanessa said playfully when Mikhail arrived at Gulf Peak like they agreed beforehand that evening.
Mikhail simply nodded and admired her choice of outfit. She was wearing a light blue long shirt with white borders, purple leggings and white shoes. He on the other hand had opt for a white shirt and slacks.
"So where should we go first?" Vanessa asked, apparently not noticing his stare.
"Oh," Mikhail shook his head slightly. "I think we could head down to town and hang out around there for a while before going up LBX Hill to watch the fireworks."
"Sounds good." Vanessa nodded in agreement and slipped her hand into his. Mikhail smiled and led her down to the town that was decorated colorfully with several stalls set up selling various merchandises and games.
During their time there, they had fun wandering around though they did not buy anything or play any of the games but they did watch several of their classmates play those games and admired some of the things on sale. At some point when Vanessa was distracted by Catherin and Proton's Hinako competing at the apple bobbling booth, Mikhail slipped away and bought something before heading back to the booth. Luckily, she did not seem to notice him leaving and they continued walking.
After a while, Mikhail glanced at his watch and realized that they had to get going if they wanted to get to LBX Hill in time to watch the fireworks. They slipped away from town and headed up LBX Hill, claiming the small lookout spot there with a good view of the town.
"Thanks for bringing me out." Vanessa told him once they got comfortable.
"It's my pleasure." Mikhail smiled and reached for something in his pocket. "Close your eyes."
Vanessa raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "What?"
"Just do it."
"Alright." Vanessa did as he told her to and felt something being fastened on her wrist. "What are you doing?"
"You'll see." Mikhail said mysteriously. "You can open your eyes now."
Vanessa slowly opened them and noticed that a silver bracelet with blue and purple stones was fastened on her wrist. She looked at Mikhail in surprise. "This is..."
"I got it just now when you were watching Catherin and Hinako at the apple bobbling booth." Mikhail said sheepishly.
"Thanks." Vanessa said and admired the bracelet. "I like it."
Mikhail rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment and suddenly planted his lips on Vanessa's and kissed her for a second before pulling back. "Sorry, I just had to do that."
Vanessa blinked in shock and her hand flew to her lips where Mikhail's lips once was. She shakily lowered her hand and kissed him again, much to his surprise.
Once they broke apart, they shifted awkwardly on the bench they were sitting on. Finally, Vanessa spoke, "So...I guess that's how a first kiss feels like."
"I guess." Mikhail cleared his throat. He looked at his watch again. "The fireworks should be starting any second now."
Just as he said that, the sky was lighted up with multiple colors as several fireworks that were fired up from town exploded. Vanessa snuggled closer to Mikhail with a small smile and pressed a kiss on his cheek. Mikhail turned to her and kissed her lips.
"Thank you." Vanessa said softly. "For everything."
"You're welcome." Mikhail took Vanessa's hand in his and squeezed it. They continued to sit there and watch the fireworks until it stopped and went back to the dorms in high spirits.
