When Are You Getting Married?
Quick note before you start reading, I'm sorry my one shots aren't the greatest at the moment! I'm busy with exams still but I'll get back to writing as soon as possible!
"Dan, before we walk in, I need you to do me a favour." Phil said, stopping directly in front of the door to his parents' house.
"Can it not wait? My bag is really heavy." Dan groaned, fiddling with the straps of his backpack. It was filled with clothes to survive the weekend (and a few other necessities such as his laptop).
"Not really... Can we act like friends? Just for this weekend. My parents don't know about us."
"Why can't you tell them? You know I can't resist kissing you sometimes." Dan chuckled, making Phil grimly shake his head.
"I'm not sure how they'll react. Please? Just for this weekend?"
"Fine." Dan then kissed Phil in a loving way. "Just had to prepare myself."
-
"Phil!" Phil's mum yelled as soon as she saw her son walk into the house. It was like they hadn't seen each other in forever when really it had only been a month or so. Phil's mum wrapped her arms around Phil, making Dan giggle slightly to himself.
"Hey, mum." Phil mumbled, smiling widely. "Dan and I are just going to put our stuff in our rooms."
"Actually, I forgot to tell you.." Phil's mum went slightly red as her sentence trailed off. "We're redecorating the spare room so you're going to have to share a room and possibly a bed since we don't have any spare mattresses or blankets.." Phil could have sworn he saw Dan smirk from the corner of his eye. He hoped his mum hadn't noticed.
"That's fine." Phil then hurried upstairs with Dan behind him.
"We have to share a bed, huh? This is going to be a very fun weekend if we can't even kiss." Dan grumbled, dropping his heavy backpack down at his feet.
"It's just a weekend, Dan, it's not like it's a lifetime."
"Can I at least kiss you now? Once? Your parents are downstairs, they'll never know." Phil looked a little skeptical but reluctantly nodded anyway.
"Just once." Dan then pressed a short kiss to Phil's lips before pulling back.
"This is going to be a long weekend."
-
Phil's mum knocked on Phil's (old) bedroom door and waited a few seconds for a response. When it stayed silent, she quietly pushed open the door. "Boys?" She said, her voice just a whisper. Silence. She crept inside a little bit more and noticed Dan and Phil in bed. She noticed that Phil's arms were wrapped around Dan and they were both sleeping soundly. She thought nothing of it, assuming they were just cuddly people.
-
"Phil? You awake?" Dan mumbled, rubbing his eyes with his fists. He poked Phil's cheek slightly but he didn't even flinch. "Phil.." Dan couldn't move due to Phil's arms being so tightly wrapped around his chest. He couldn't budge. "Wake up." Dan actually needed to go to toilet and he couldn't if Phil's arms were firmly keeping him in place. "I need to pee." Dan poked Phil again.
Phil grunted.
"Wake up." Dan said a little louder. Phil's eyes finally flickered open and Dan mentally jumped up into the air. "Can you move your arms?"
"Oh, sorry." Phil grumbled, retracting his arms back so Dan could move again.
"Thanks." Dan couldn't help but peck Phil's cheek before he left the room.
-
Dinner was really awkward. Everyone could feel it. None of the family were speaking (Dan wasn't speaking either) so they were eating in silence. Until Phil's mum decided to bring up relationships.. fun for both Dan and Phil. "So.. Dan, are you in a relationship?"
Dan didn't know what to say and sent Phil a frantic look. "No, he isn't. Neither am I." Phil said, saving Dan from either lying or accidently saying something to hint their relationship. Weirdly, it felt like Phil was embarrassed about their relationship and he didn't really care enough to tell his parents. Maybe Dan was overreacting but it still hurt.
"Waiting for the right person, are you? Smart of you." Dan forced a smile and nodded.
"Thanks for the lovely meal." Dan mumbled, standing up. Suddenly, he felt kind of ill and just one glance at his food made him want to vomit. "I'll be right back." He then dashed in the direction of the bathroom.
"Is he okay? Did I say something wrong?" Phil's mum frowned, watching Phil's friend leave the room.
"You said nothing wrong. I'll go speak to him." Phil stood up and wandered to the bathroom, where he knew Dan would be. "Dan?" He muttered, knocking on the door which was firmly locked.
"Are you embarrassed to have me as a boyfriend?" Dan muttered before letting out an obvious sniff.
"No, it's not like that. I just don't want my parents to have a negative reaction. Open the door, Dan."
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Dan."
"Phil."
"Are you okay?"
"No."
"Will it make you feel better if I kiss you?"
"Are you not worried that your parents will see you?"
"I'll drop the offer." After another few seconds of silence, Dan unlocked the door and let Phil in. Phil's heart cracked slightly as soon as his eyes laid upon his crying boyfriend. It was his fault too. "Dan, listen," Phil said, putting a light hand on Dan's shoulder. "I am not embarrassed by you."
"Why won't you tell them then?"
"Because they might hate me or something."
"Oh-" Phil cut Dan off by pressing their lips together. Neither noticed that the door was open and Phil's mum wanted to check on them.
She walked down the hallway to see the bathroom door was wide open. She glanced in and gasped at what she saw. Dan and Phil were kissing. Kissing. Kissing! "Phil!" She almost yelled, her eyes wide open.
Phil stepped away from Dan, his eyes equally wide as his mum's. "I can explain." He exclaimed, his whole body suddenly trembling with anxiety and fear.
"Are you and Dan together?"
"Yes." Dan spoke up, making Phil's jaw drop. He wanted to be angry at Dan but he generally couldn't because, after seeing him and Dan kiss, his mum obviously knew something.
"Why didn't you tell me? Or your father?"
"I was scared." Phil's voice cracked, making his mum flinch.
"Of what? We're proud of you. You and Dan are pretty cute. Plus, I suspected something anyway since, last night, you were cuddling."
"You saw?"
"Yeah, I did. Cute. You're both adorable."
"Mum!" Phil was now blushing, his frown replaced with an embarrassed smile.
"Come here." Phil's mum opened up her arms and wrapped them around her son. All while Dan stood there awkwardly. "And you too, Dan. You're part of the family now." Dan couldn't hide his smile as he joined in the hug. "So... when are you getting married?"
Oh gosh I'm not sure about this
Okay, the question for this one shot... Well I got glasses today so...
