Prince
I'd make this a full Phanfiction but that involves time and effort. I don't have time or effort so here is a one shot. You're all probably going to say ohhhh it happens too quick but oh well. It's a one shot. It's the best I can give you at this point in time.
Also, have you ever heard of Story Cubes? They're like the best thing in the world and my parents got them for me for my birthday!! This one shot is actually based off of what I got on the cubes: a castle, a sheep and like a sympathetic smiley face?? Yeah so here you go, a one shot about a castle, a sheep and a smiley face.
Dan was stubborn. To say the least. His life was pretty much planned ahead of him: meet a girl, fall in love, get married, take the throne from his father and rule the country. He wasn't an only child, having a little brother called Alex. Alex was eleven years old, yet to realise the pressure of the family and he barely even understood what 'love' was.
Dan was a prince. His father ruled over the country and worked to make sure everything was in order, was fair and everyone was happy. However, despite pretty much everything working out, one person was still unhappy. His son.
He was educated at home and he barely ever met new people. The people he knew were spoilt and they controlled his every move. Plus, Dan didn't want to fall in love with a girl... he wanted a boy.
That boy he wanted was poor. He barely ever ate three proper meals, his mother could barely support him but he kept positive. Dan always saw a smile on his face, no matter what. Dan watched the boy work every single day out his bedroom window, high up in the castle that was his home. He always helped out on the farm right outside Dan's window and Dan couldn't help but watch.
-
"Daniel, your father, Alex and I are going out to visit some family just out of town, are you coming? We're going to stay overnight there." Dan's mother asked, not even a faint smile on her face.
"No, it's okay." Dan responded, sighing slightly.
"Manners."
"No thank you." Dan watched with dead eyes as his family left him on his own. He looked at the door blankly for a few minutes, as if waiting for his parents to come back. They didn't.
It then sunk in that he was on his own.
What he was considering doing was something he had never ever done before. He wanted to leave his house on his own to see the world in the way he wanted to see it.. as it really is. He wanted to see the night sky up close, rather than through a glass window. Most importantly, he wanted to talk to the boy.
He reached out and touched the door handle, twisting it slowly. The air from the outside world flowed in, hitting against his face. It made him shiver from the cold but he liked it.
On the rare occasions that Dan went outside, he wasn't allowed to look at what he wanted to look at. His childhood wasn't filled with games outside in the sun with other boys; it was filled with loneliness and sadness, watching other boys have fun.
He stepped outside, a curious smile on his face as he walked down the path. He unlocked the gate and slipped out into the world around him. It was better than he imagined.
The sun was just setting and it was a wonderful sight- something he would never forget. Pinks, yellows, reds all mixed together to complete a beautiful sight. He could just see, over a hill of grass, the boy was standing, talking to a woman. Dan walked over the hill before timidly waving at the boy who awkwardly smiled back.
"What are you doing here?" The boy said, looking kind of concerned. "Are you lost?"
"No. I wanted to talk to you." Dan responded, his voice confident, despite the fact that his body was shaking.
"Why?" The boy nervously looked at the woman, confused.
"I always see you out of my window," Dan pointed towards his castle. "I want to know your name."
"Are you alright? That's where the prince lives.. no one is allowed in there except people related to the king.."
Dan nodded. "I know that. Of course I know that! I mean, I am the prince!"
"You're the prince?" The boy snorted slightly. "Yeah, and I am the richest man on the planet."
"I'm Dan."
"I'm Phil." Phil held out his hand and Dan glanced at it like it was something he had never seen before. He then timidly held out his hand and shook Phil's hand.
"You look really nice up close. It's weird always seeing everyone out of a window."
"Thanks? You look nice too?"
Dan slipped his hand into Phil's and began to drag him away from the woman. "I want you to come to my castle."
"Is that even okay?" Phil giggled, secretly believing Dan didn't even know where he was and he most definitely was not the prince.
"Of course it's okay. My mother and father are out."
Phil glanced at the woman one more time before allowing Dan to drag him away.
-
The two boys reached the entrance to the castle as Phil was beginning to doubt the decision of following Dan. They were going to get caught, weren't they? Dan wasn't actually a prince, he was just an innocent little boy who dreamt of seeing the inside of the castle. He was going to get in so much trouble with his mum.. would they go to prison? Surely breaking into a castle deserves a jail sentence?
Dan pushed a pin into a gate and it swung open. Phil's jaw dropped as he watched Dan confidently walk down the path like he owned the place. "Dan!" Phil squeaked, his voice barely above a whisper. "We're going to get in trouble!"
"Why would I get in trouble for going into my own house?" Dan responded with a tiny smile. Phil shook his head, barely believing that he was just about to walk inside the castle.
-
Dan easily navigated his way up flights and flights of stairs to his bedroom on the second to last floor. He threw open the door, grinning widely.
"This is my bedroom." Dan said, laughing when Phil gasped. "I hate it so much."
"How can you hate it? It's beautiful! You have everything you ever wanted!" Phil exclaimed in disbelief, sitting on Dan's bed that was as soft as the softest cloud.
"I don't have everything I want though."
"What else could you possibly want?"
"Friends and love."
Dan looked at Phil with a sad, lost expression on his face. Phil met his eyes as Dan sat beside him. Phil found himself saying something in his attractive accent...
"I'll be your friend."
Haha friend zoned. Just saying, if this was continued, they'd fall in love duh so don't attack me
