Colours
I don't know if this one shot makes sense but I really like it and I came up with the idea myself which is super cool :)
Colours. Such wonderful things. Just by seeing what colour someone's wearing, you can determine what sort of mood they were in. Shades of black, greys and whites meant inner sadness, stress and anxiety whereas bright blues, greens and yellows meant happiness and contentment.
Walking in through the school gates, Dan was ambushed with fields of mostly bright colours. His black outfit was completely lost in the rainbow of colours.
Smiles and laughs matched people's blues and reds, just like Dan's frown matched his black. He rushed passed the happy students into his tutor room.
The room had boring white walls with little posters or anything to make the place happier so it was... sad. Dan's tutor stood up, his black suit matching his monotone voice. He began to speak but Dan didn't care to listen, he just buried his face into his hands, wanting to disappear.
"Daniel Howell can you tell me what the class is supposed to be doing?" Dan's head perked up, his eyes wide. The brown of his eyes seemed to darken slightly as his face drained of its lively colour. Dan frantically glanced around the room, hoping someone could help him out. Sadly, no one seemed to be kind enough. "Next time, listen."
Dan knew it was going to be a long day.
-
Dan walked into maths with both of his hands in the pockets of his black skinny jeans. He had his head held low as he looked down at the feet of the colourful people. He practically collapsed onto his plastic chair and began to watch everyone flood into the room, filling the room with new shades of colour. Someone sat beside him... a flash of blue.
Dan turned to see the prettiest boy in the prettiest shade of blue. He almost had to double take. He was wearing the brightest outfit and an equally bright smile. "I'm new, is it okay if I sit here?" The boy asked, raising one of his eyebrows.
"Yeah.. it's fine." Dan mumbled, pulling at one of his long, black sleeves.
"I'm Phil!" Phil's voice was as cheerful as his clothing.
"Dan."
"Why are you wearing so much black in the middle of summer?" Phil waited a moment before seeing Dan's frown and adding, "If you don't mind me asking."
"Because the colours you wear can often reflect your feelings. Bright colours connote happiness and dull, sadness. It's pretty simple." Phil nodded.
"So you're sad? Why?"
"I just am."
"There must be a reason! I don't see even a tiny bit of colour on you."
"You'll probably figure it out one way or another by the end of the day."
"What?" Phil didn't understand what Dan was trying to say and he didn't think he ever would because Dan didn't reply.
-
Phil wandered around a corner to hear a group of people mockingly laughing. There was a crowd of people, surrounding one person in the middle. All of the crowd were wearing red and purple, both menacing colours if you thought about it. However, the one poor victim standing in the middle of it all was wearing black. Black. Sadness.
Phil watched as someone yelled names at the boy whilst the others cackled loudly like a pack of evil hyenas. He wished he could just run towards the boy in the middle and scream for them to stop but he couldn't. He couldn't save the boy because he was weak and, most importantly, scared.
So he just turned and walked the other way, hoping to forget it ever happened. He couldn't hide the blue tear which slipped down his face at his sheer sorrow for the boy.
-
"Are you okay?" Phil asked Dan who was just staring blankly at the whiteboard.
"Perfect." Dan responded, sighing as he flicked open his exercise book.
"Why were those boys calling you those names?"
"Because they want to? I don't know!" Dan really wasn't ready to have that conversation with someone, especially not someone wearing blue. Blue wouldn't understand any of black's problems. They were completely different colours.
"Have you told anyone about-"
"Yes, Phil, I told a bunch of blues, greens and pinks about my problems when they don't understand black problems at all. All they have to worry about is what to wear in the morning."
"Dan-"
"And now I'm telling a blue about my problems. You won't understand."
"Why do you refer to people as colours?"
"I just do, Phil. It's my thing. I don't need you to bully me too."
"I think it's interesting." Dan looked almost taken aback at Phil's comment.
"How is it interesting? It's stupid."
"It's your thing. Can you explain to me what you mean?"
"It's simple. You are what colour you wear. You're a blue, I'm a black and he," Dan pointed to someone who was wearing a red shirt. "Is a red."
"What do the colours mean though?"
"Blacks and whites are sad, reds and oranges are angry, greens, pinks, blues and yellows are happy, purples are stressed."
"So you figure out people's emotions through what colour they're wearing?"
"You're happy a lot."
"How did you know?" Phil chuckled, smiling softly at Dan.
"I just know."
"Dan, is it weird to say that I want to make you wear some blue!"
"No thank you, I'm not a blue."
"You will be soon because you are officially announced my best friend and it is now my duty to make you a blue!"
What colour are you wearing right now?
Blue because I'm a blue and I'm kind of happpppy
I wrote a part two to this one shot but I am unsure on whether it should be posted?? I don't really know if this needs a part two because I already like the ending??
