A Day In The Life Of Dan And Phil

"Phil, I haven't uploaded a video in over a month!" Dan groaned, rubbing his fists against his eyes in frustration. "I need to post something..."

"Then post something!" Phil replied, as if it was the simplest thing ever.

"I have no ideas!" Dan sighed, collapsing on the sofa beside Phil with a loud huff. He was really short on ideas and he needed to post a video as soon as he could.

"Internet Support Group? Reasons Why Dan's A Fail?"

"I always post them! I need something original..."

"When I'm short on ideas, I just brainstorm as much as I can onto a piece of paper."

"I have nothing!"

"Dan, calm down. This isn't the end of the world. Can you do a vlog?"

"I don't know? Nothing fun has happened to us recently?"

"We could do a Day In The Life?"

"We were going to stay at home all day?"

"We can go out! We can go for a walk around London?"

"Okay." Dan stood back up, walking towards the door. Just before he left, he turned back to face Phil. "Thanks, Phil."

"I'm happy to help you."

-

"Hello Internet. I was kind of low on ideas and I really need to post a video so enjoy this Day In The Life Of Dan And Phil!" Dan grinned at the camera he was holding in one of his hands. Phil was right beside him, smiling and pushing him forward. "We're going to be walking around London and visiting our favourite shops!"

"First of," Phil started. "To the Underground!"

-

"It's really busy today..." Dan chuckled into the camera, Phil laughing nervously beside him. "Phil, stay close otherwise I'll lose you." Dan and Phil both got onto the Underground train and it was very crowded. People were all around them, chattering and talking loudly. Dan turned off the camera and held onto the bar to keep himself steady.

"Where are we heading?" Phil yelled over the loud sound of people.

"Forbidden Planet, of course."

"How many stops?"

"Just two."

-

"This is our stop!" Dan muttered as people began to file off the train. "Stay close." Phil nodded, the crowd making him slightly nervous but, other than that, he was okay. As Dan and Phil were slowly being pulled apart by the crowd, Dan grabbed Phil's hand.

"Fans-" Phil started but Dan immediately cut him off.

"Doesn't matter. I'd much rather not lose you."

-

"We're on our way to Forbidden Planet! It should just be a five minute walk from here." Dan said, making sure to keep the camera's view away from their hands (which were still connected). They were out of the Underground and crowd but neither had bothered to split their hands. "What are you going to buy, Phil?"

"I have no idea! What about you?" Phil responded, leaning closer to Dan to fit into the picture.

"Probably some Pokémon merchandise. You know I love that stuff." Phil laughed at Dan before nodding.

Dan turned off the camera and so he and his best friend began walking in silence again. Dan unlinked their hands (to both of their dismay).

-

"That was such a long day," Dan laughed, collapsing onto the sofa in exhaustion. "My feet are killing me."

"Same," Phil replied with a small smile. "At least you have a video now."

"Now I have to edit it and that's going to take so long..." Neither of the pair had mentioned the hand holding as of yet, despite it being on both of their minds. They didn't want to create an awkward atmosphere or somehow damage their friendship. It was too precious to hurt a friendship over something so small as hand holding.

"Oh and," Phil bit his lip, really hating himself for bringing up the subject. "Make sure you can't see us holding hands throughout the video..."

Dan swallowed, feeling equally awkward. "I... will."

Phil nodded. The pair stayed silent for a few seconds before Dan decided to talk.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Talk about what?"

"Us holding hands."

"Oh."

"Do you?"

"It was just a friendly gesture." Phil mumbled, shifting his weight between both of his feet.

"Of course it was..." Dan stood up, so that he met Phil's height. Both were trying to look everywhere but the other's eyes, sensing the extremely awkward atmosphere. Dan felt his eyes gradually slip downwards, towards Phil's lips.

"So.. are you going to go edit the video?" Phil blurted out, stepping back from Dan.

"Oh, yeah.. I should probably do that now." Then Dan raced off to his bedroom, his face red in embarrassment.

For some reason, in that moment, he had had a sudden urge to kiss his roommate.

-

Dan was in the middle of editing his video when there was a small knock on his bedroom door. "Yeah?" He called out, taking off the headphones he was wearing.

"Do you want some coffee? I was just making some and I thought you might need some since you're editing and all." Phil awkwardly asked. There was still a lot of tension between the pair and neither really liked that since they were best friends. Best friends were supposed to feel comfortable around each other.

"Yes, please." Dan mumbled and, once again, his gaze flickered down to Phil's lips. He forced himself to look away before Phil turned and left the room.

Dan needed to stop staring.

-

Phil brought the two steaming cups of coffee upstairs and into Dan's bedroom. "Do you mind if I sit in here with you? It's boring downstairs..." Dan just nodded, typing something. "Are we okay?"

Dan furrowed his eyebrows, taking his coffee from Phil's hands. As their hands brushed against each other, Dan found that he was beginning to blush and his heart was beating a little too fast. "Why wouldn't we be?" He mumbled.

"It just feels really awkward..." Phil went silent, trying not to look into Dan's eyes. "Is it because of the hand holding? I really didn't mind it, you know? It was nice knowing you wanted me to be safe."

"I don't know..."

"Is there something bothering you? Is it the video? Are you stressed?" Phil was speaking in the softest voice possible but Dan still didn't want to tell Phil the actual reason he was acting strangely.

Holding Phil's hand was really nice and they fit together like two puzzle pieces. Phil's eyes were nice to stare into, they were like huge, vast oceans, shimmering in the sun. And don't get Dan stared on Phil's lips.

"Dan..?" Dan snapped back into reality, his eyes wide. He had literally zoned out, staring at Phil's lips. What a way to make it obvious.

"Sorry."

"What's up?"

Dan couldn't take it anymore. He roughly shut his laptop, placed it beside him and leaned forward to press his lips against Phil's. Phil seemed a little shocked at first but he soon caught on and began to kiss back.

Phil pulled back, an eyebrow raised. "What-" He started but Dan cut him off with a quick shake of his head.

"I really had to do that. That's been bothering me." Dan laughed, scratching at his neck in the most awkward way.

"Oh.. it's okay.."

"I kind of have something to ask you..?"

"Does this answer your question?" Phil then leant back in again and connected their lips.

YES.

What's your favourite season?

Autumn.
