Chapter 11

My hands laid on my hips in a contemplative manner. This had happened every day for a week. Flowers graced the stand outside of my room, matching the color of my dress I chose for today. It was late in the evening and I wanted to retire to my room, but it happened again.

Someone had been giving me new flowers every day. And I wanted to find out who. The first time I noticed the flowers was the second day I received them. I also took notice that every time I got new flowers, they would match the color of my dress.

The fact that I had gotten new flowers everyday for a week without my knowledge of who, made me aggravated. I at least wanted to say thank you.

I huffed and gathered the flowers in my arms before I placed them in a vase next to my room window.

Tomorrow. I wear black. Beat that, flower fairy.

In the morning, I woke up with a dedication to find this flower fairy. But my duties as the princess's attendant came first. First, I told the princess of her own duties and lessons while she bathed, then I proctored her exchange with the duchess of the house of Leroun. Simply having tea, and discussing future business ideas for the duchess's company.

Next she had a meeting with a representative of the Roundant foundation. They were asking permission to construct upon land that the princess herself ruled over. They wanted to make a clinic due to the many people who had succumbed to the flu.

Finally, I escorted her to the empress's study for her lessons on dealing with the palaces finance and economics of the capital.

Yes, the princess had quite the day. But she had stormed straight through it instead of shying away. I was proud to call her my friend.

By the time I had left Nene in the hands of the terrifying empress, it was a little past lunch. It was perfect. No one other than a few maids, and the royal family had seen the color of my dress. So I snuck behind the corner that led to my room and waited.

I watched as many people passed by. Staff of the palace going into their own rooms, but none had flowers.

Behind me, Tsukasa was dusting off his nice suite after putting flowers on the windowsill behind me. Noticing I was crouched behind the wall. He chuckled lowly at my childish behavior before he bet down and whispered in my ear. "Boo."

"Goodness gracious Tsukasa!" I jumped up in the air and held my ear defensively. "Please don't scare me like that.

The prince only laughed at me while he held the back of his neck. His laughter died down after a few moments, but I went back to crouching behind the wall. Looking for someone with flowers. "Why are you hiding?" He asked me.

"The flower fairy." I spoke bluntly. I tucked my dress in so that I could sit down on the floor with coverage.

The prince observed my stance and looked back. Seeing if his lousy butler was around before he took a seat on the ground next to me. "Who?"

I smiled before I looked at the prince. I was happy he was interested in what I had to say. "Well I don't really know who! Someone keeps on...." And that's when I noticed the black flowers on the windowsill of the hallway. "Nooo!" My figure stood up abruptly and I gripped the stems of the black flowers. "No! They did it again."

Tsukasa smiled lightly but decided to play dumb. "Oh! Those are the new breed of flowers right? Black lunaria? Wonder where they came from?" Tsukasa placed his finger on his chin to act as if he were thinking.

"I can't believe I didn't notice! I should've looked everywhere." I whined I began to tread towards my room with Tsukasa in tow.

"Oh! I know!" His balled up hand placed it in his other hand. "My mother ordered them a while ago because her favorite color is black. We had them in the garden, so maybe they got picked there?"

I left my door open where the prince stood. As I placed the new flowers in the vase and took the orange ones from earlier out, my eyes sparkled. "Yes! What a good idea. Let's go take a look there!"

I quickly ran out of the room and grabbed the boy's hand in my own. Running quickly towards the palace garden.

On the way there, we passed Tabitha. But she didn't dare look me in the eye like those times before. Tsukasa was the most feared other than his mother in the palace. He was known for his forwardness and his violent tendencies.

I had seen him aggravated, but not violent yet. It scared me a little thinking about it so I shook my head to get rid of those thoughts.

I had stopped running about halfway there to catch my breath. The palace was huge and I was surprised I memorized the layout of it.

"Done running already? This wasn't even a warm up for me." Tsukasa put his arms up into the air as a stretch.

I took off my shoes in front of the prince and rubbed my feet. Sure, it wasn't proper mannerism, but I was comfortable around him. "Please excuse me. I was running in heels so it hurt. And I never had good stamina to begin with.

"Serves right for a bookworm. Come. We will walk the rest of the way." Without letting go of my hand, he walked forward. Dragging me along behind him.

I couldn't help but notice his posture. He had a long stride. He seemed to be confident in his abilities at anything really. I think just looking at the young prince told anyone what he was about. It wasn't money or fame. It was power.

"Ah...Tsukasa?" The both of us froze in the middle of the hallway due to familiar voice. "What's going on between you two?" The older of the twins eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I could see why. No one would think the princess's attendant would go off to play in the garden with a young prince.

"Amane! You had time to get out of the study? Seems like you are working hard." Tsukasa beamed at his brother with sparkling eyes. Did the Prince not get to spend time with his brother aside from meals?

Amane pinched his nose in aggravation. "Don't avoid the question. What are you doing here?...together?.." the prince paused and his hand went to his chin before they both went to his cheeks in excitement. "Ohhh! Are you on a date?"

"A what?" I flustered out.

Tsukasa didn't answer because he was left speechless at his brother's stupidity. "No. We were only heading to the garden." He said coldly towards Amane. His hand tugged my arm and forced me to come closer to him. "We have a common interest in flowers. Right (Y/n)?"

"Oh! Yes!" I squeaked. My heart was going against my chest at the older princes assumption. I could never! He's a prince and I am simply a mere lord's daughter.

Within a few seconds, my mind had completely turned from the mystery of the cleaning fairy, to fake dates with the younger prince himself.

We didn't get to make it to the garden.
