The Raven Princess Prologue (Should I make this a seperate story?)
Not a Couple: Swan Princess AU Preview
The demon King Trigon of the kingdom Infernum had a dilema. His rule had lasted over five hundred years and he did not have an heir to take over when he was gone. He needed to produce an heir to take over or the people of his kingdom would rebel.
Trigon put his hands in his face. "What am I going to do?" he muttered.
Then, an idea struck him. He'd visit each home in the kingdom to find a suitable wife. Once he found her, they'd produce an heir.
After a few weeks of searching, he found the perfect woman. Her name was Arella and she was almost twenty one. He found her in the kingdom's orphanage and decided that she was the one from one look at her.
Arella was beautiful; she had long raven haired that reached her waist and alluring amethyst eyes. Her skin was pale like porcelain and she possessed the most womanly curves.
Trigon called for the wedding immediately and though she loathed him, Arella reluctantly agreed. Trigon and Arella were wed and soon Arella fell pregnant. Trigon was ecstatic.
Unfortunately, Arella grew sick in her pregnancy. Trigon hired the best normal doctors and magical healers to no avail. They all told him she was going to die, but the baby had an eighty five percent chance of surviving.
Though he was a bit saddened by his wife's imitate death, Trigon couldn't help but feel extreme happiness at the thought of an heir. Trigon and Arella couldn't stand each other at first, but had eventually grown closer as friends and he would miss her dearly.
But the most important thing was that he would finally have an heir.
Eight months later, the baby was ready to be born. Trigon could hear Arella's screams and winced. He may not be in love with her, but those screams were excruciating.
Soon enough, the screams stopped and a baby's wail could be heard throughout the castle.
The king hurriedly ran to the medical room the queen currently occupied. In the nurse's arms was a beautiful half-demon girl with a purple puff of hair, big amethyst eyes, and pale gray skin.
The doctor tapped him on the shoulder. "I'm sorry, Your Highness," he said regretfully. "but your wife is dead."
Trigon nodded at the doctor. "It is alright, Doctor," he said. "What of my daughter?"
"She is a beautiful and healthy baby girl," the doctor answered. "Your wife requested her name be Raven."
Trigon nodded, taking his daughter from the nurse. "I will honor her request then," he obliged. "Let everyone in this room witness the birth of Princess Raven of Infernum."
One Year Later
A ball was held for Princess Raven on her first birthday. Kings and queens from all over the land were invited to attend.
Queen Talia from the kingdom of Sicarius arrived holding her son's hand. Prince Damian of Sicarius was about a year older than Raven with emerald green eyes (obviously inherited from Talia) and jet black hair.
Not much was known about Queen Talia, Prince Damian, and the kingdom of Sicarius. Only that Talia is the daughter of the deceased conqueror King Ra's al Ghul. Legend has it that Ra's was as ruthless as he was clever and considering he conqured five kingdoms during his two years of raiding, that was extremely clever. Ra's had died some time ago, leaving the kingdom in Talia's hands. No one was sure who Damian's father was, for Talia kept matters such as that extremely private.
Most rulers despised Talia because of her father, that fact was assured when she found herself at the receiving end of viscous glares, not that it bothered her much. Fortunately, her father was good friends with Trigon so she and Damian were always welcomed in Infernum.
Talia took a silver locket with a raven on it out of her pocket and handed it to her son. "Go give Princess Raven her gift," she commanded.
"Yes Mother," Damian obliged, walking over to Raven's crib. He used his little arms to pull himself up on a stool that was next to it and dangled the locket over Raven's form.
Raven squealed in delight as she reached for the silver item with her pale gray arms. Damian eventually put the necklace around her neck and clasped it for her.
It was at that moment that Queen Talia and King Trigon had an idea. An idea that would merge their two kingdoms and possibly leave their children as supreme rulers of the land. Every summer, Raven would travel to Sicarius. Raven and Damian would spend every summer together in hopes that they would fall in love and untie the kingdoms.
Just as the king and queen were about to voice their similar ideas to each other, a cloud of black smoke appeared in the middle of the ballroom. From it, came a man. He looked to be older than Talia, maybe about ten years or so. He wore a mask that was half orange and half black and seemed to be missing an eye.
King Trigon and Queen Talia gasped. "Slade!" they exclaimed, glaring daggers at the man. Each grabbed their child, holding them close.
"King Trigon," the man named Slade almost purred. "And Queen Talia. My, it's been a long time."
"You!" Trigon seethed. "I knew I should have finished you when I had the chance! Why are you here!"
"Why to take my rightful spot as King of Infernum, of course," Slade stated in a calm tone. His one eyes caught sight of Raven. "And who is this? Your lovely young daughter?"
Trigon quickly handed his daughter to Talia who put as much distance between the children and Slade as possible.
Of course Slade saw this. "My oh my, Talia," he said. "You've grown quite beautiful. Tell me, where is your father?"
"You know he is dead, bastard!" Talia retorted. "You stabbed hin yourself, even after he and King Trigon showed you mercy!
Slade ignored her and turned his attention back to Trigon. "Mark my words, Trigon," he spat. "Someday I will be king of Infernum, so keep an eye on your daughter."
This infuriated the demon king. "Guards!" he bellowed. "Seize him!"
Slade only smirked as another cloud of black smoke appeared. As it cleared, everyone could see he was no longer in the ballroom.
"Find him!" King Trigon ordered his men. "Bring him to me!"
But try as they could, the guards could not find Slade. It was as if he disappeared into thin air. Though Trigon wasn't happy, he was thankful his daughter wasn't harmed.
Talia studied Raven intensely before handing her back to her father. She has great power, the queen observed. She will make the perfect mate for Damian. She picked up her own son and started to head back to Sicarius.
So what did you guys think? Should I make this its own story? Those of you who have watched The Swan Princess probably know where I'm going with this. And if you haven't seen it, I suggest you do or else you may be confused. Trust me, I read a Digimon AU and was totally confused. Despite what people on the internet say, I thought the movie was pretty good. Here's the cast:
Princess Odette: Raven
Prince Derek: Damian
Rothbart: Slade
Queen Uberta: Talia
King William: Trigon
Lord Rogers: Alfred
Others: Undecided
