Take It Off

Not a Couple

The second Raven woke up, she immediately felt discomfort in her head. At first, she couldn't place what it was. Then:

Ungrateful brat! You will not be able to lock me away forever!

Shut up.

I'll kill all of your friends! And the rest of humanity!

You're not getting out. I was careless last time, but I won't make the same mistake twice.

With that, Raven got out of bed and started to get ready for the day, ignoring her father's comments. Raven then made her way to the training room, deciding to skip breakfast. She saw that Damian, Garfield, and Jaime were already training while Kori observed them.

Raven didn't know why, but a sense of extreme anger bubbled inside her.

What did you do to me?

There was no answer, so Raven decided to ignore these feelings and joined her teammates in training.

Within about five seconds, she had taken out about twenty hologram warriors from the air. Instead of the patience she usually has during combat, she just blasted anything that came within three feet of her. Unfortunately, Garfield was one of those things. Lucky for him, he turned into a fly to avoid being hit.

"Dude!" he shouted, turning back into himself. "What was that all about?!"

Raven shook her head, she could feel her eyes changing, but the anger didn't go away. "Sorry," she said through gritted teeth.

Kori made her way over to them. "Are you okay, Raven?" she asked gently.

"I'm fine," Raven said emotionlessly, trying to conceal the anger that was eating away at her. "Can I go meditate?" she asked Kori.

Kori had barely nodded before Raven opened a portal leading to her meditation spot.

Kori looked at Damian, expectantly. "What?" he asked. She continued her stare. Damian sighed. "I'm going, I'm going." With that, Damian walked out of the training room.

"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos."

No matter how many times Raven repeated this, it wasn't helping to calm the now boiling rage inside of her.

The purple-eyed empath then felt someone enter her forcefield. She didn't need to open her eyes, she knew it was Damian. Since that day she had entered his mind to heal him, they had a sort of connection that allowed him to enter whatever guards she put around a certain place.

Raven opened her eyes. "What do you want, Damian?" she snapped, then winced at the harshness in her tone.

Damian didn't say anything, but instead held out his palm.

"What?" Raven asked.

"The crystal," Damian answered, gesturing to her forehead. "Take it off."

Raven put a hand over her forehead. "Why?" she asked.

"Trigon's negative powers are affecting you," Damian answered. "Take it off," he repeated.

Raven shook her head. "I told you already," she insisted. "If I stop watching this crystal for even a minute, he has a chance to escape."

Damian sighed. "Raven, if you keep that crystal on your forehead all the time, your mood will only get worse," he told her. "Take it off."

Raven sighed in defeat, she knew she wasn't gonna win this fight. She reluctantly plucked the crystal off her forehead and handed it to Damian.

Damian took the crystal and placed it into a small, black container. "It's meant to contain magic," he explained. "It'll keep Trigon at bay."

Raven nodded solemnly. But inside, she felt like she could take on Superman. Without Kryptonite. Her chest felt a lot lighter and her head felt clearer. The anger immediately dissolved.

Damian smirked at her. "Better?" he asked.

Raven smiled slightly. "A lot, actually," she answered. "Thanks. But how did you know that it was the crystal?"

Damian's smirk, if possible, grew bigger. "Easy," he answered. You never recklessly use your magic, especially during training because you're afraid you will hurt one of us. And the only people you lose patience with is either me or Garfield, never Kori."

Raven's smile twisted into a smirk, not unlike Damian's. "You spent the morning watching me?" she asked with an arched eyebrow.

Damian stared at her, his deep green eyes gazing at her mysterious purple eyes. He then chuckled. "I guess I did," he replied.

That caught Raven slightly off guard; she never expected him to admit it. "Oh really?" she inquired, eyebrow still arched. "And why is that?"

Damian looked at Raven with an emotion that was extremely foreign to her. In fact, it slightly scared her. "D-damian...?" she stuttered.

Without taking his eyes off her, Damian gently grabbed Raven's face and placed his lips on hers. Raven was extremely surprised at this, but closed her eyes and kissed back.
