Scandalous (Protege AU)
Couple
"CELESTE MARTHA WAYNE!"
Celeste Wayne sighed, having already expected this. "I'm coming, Damian," she called back to her brother. She understood why he was angry, but in all honesty, she just didn't have the energy to deal with this.
However, she was never one to go against Damian or Raven, so she made her way downstairs. Once she entered the living room, it was apparent she was in trouble.
Damian has his fists clenched by his sides, an angry scowl etched onto his face. Raven stood beside him, her mouth formed into a disappointed frown.
Her brother took a picture from his pocket and held it in front of her. "Care to explain what this is?" he seethed.
The picture was of her underneath a certain Mar'i Grayson, both of them locked in a passionate kiss on her bed.
Though she has been expecting as much, the tips of Celeste's ears turned slightly red. "Well, Damian, it appears to be a kiss between Mar'i and myself."
Damian glared at her. "Don't get smart with me, girl," he snapped. "That's your cousin."
Celeste titled her head in thought. "No," she decided. "No, Mar'i would technically be my niece, I think."
Raven spoke up for the first time since she had come downstairs. "Yes, because that's so much better," she drawled sarcastically.
Celeste, reminiscent of her late father, raised an eyebrow. "The two of you were step-siblings," she pointed out. "Mom adopted you" She looked at Damian. "-then got married to our dad."
Damian looked about to seconds from smacking the shit out of her. "Not only is this borderline illegal, you had the gall to... to fraternize in our house!"
She shrugged. "If you want, I could keep the fraternizing to my car," she offered.
Raven placed a hand in her husband's shoulder to keep him from getting any angrier and sighed. "Just go to your room while we decide what to do," she ordered.
Celeste nodded. "Sure," she agreed without issue. She then retreated upstairs, knowing that she wasn't going to get into too much trouble.
Damian gave a ragged sigh. "This fucking kid," he complained, flopping onto the couch.
"You know, she did have a point," Raven reminded him, sitting down next to him. "You and I are technically step brother and step sister. At least, legally, we are."
"Yes, but we were together long before Diana and my father got married," he pointed out. "She and Mar'i grew up as cousins."
Raven was quiet for a moment. "Were they ever, though?" she asked quietly.
He gave her a look of confusion. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"Well, Celeste and Mar'i have always been close," she explained. "Closer than cousins, or even siblings. Remeber Celeste's fourteenth birthday?"
Damian shuddered. "Don't remind me."
The night had ended up in Mar'i getting arrested due to the fact that some boy had tried to force himself onto Celeste - he still hadn't found out who, or he would've broken the punk's legs himself - and Mar'i ended up attacking him.
"I just thought Mar'i was mad because she was protective of Celeste," he continued. "She always has been, you know."
"Kor'i explained to me a long time ago that Tameraneans are very protective over who they see as their mates," Raven told him. "Maybe she lashed out because she considers Celeste as hers."
Damian massaged his temples. "These fucking kids."
Raven gave a small smile before kissing him on the cheek. "We love them anyway."
He sighed. "Yes, we do."
"We should tell Dick about this," Raven suggested. "He'll want to know."
Damian was silent for a moment. "Are we sure he doesn't already?"
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that Celeste had been spending a lot of time ovet there," Damian explained. "More time than I originally thought. That might be due to the fact that Grayson already knew."
"You might be right," Raven agreed. She looked up at him with her amethyst eyes. "What should we do about this?"
"I have no idea," Damian admitted, looping an arm around her waist and pulling her closer. "If we try to stop her, Celeste will just push back harder against us. You know she's just as stubborn as Father and Diana."
Raven nodded. "She'll stray," she said bluntly, though her eyes betrayed her vulnerability. "I don't want to lose her. Azar, Damian, I can't lose her."
"Me neither," he confessed. "But can we let this continue?"
She sighed. "I don't know." She leaned her head on his chest. "I didn't even think she liked girls."
"Diana was bisexual," Damian reminded her. "Maybe it's an Amazon thing."
Raven hit his shoulder. "Asshole. Diana grew up around all women. Celeste has never even been to Themyscira. Sexuality isn't genetic."
Damian rolled his eyes. "I know that, Beloved. But Amazon physiology is different from ours."
Raven sighed. "Whatever we decide, it'll have to wait until morning." She stood up and glanced at the clock. "It's almost midnight."
Damian nodded, standing up with her. "I'm ready to clock in, myself," he agreed, looping an arm around her waist.
Raven leaned onto his shoulder as he guided her to their room. "Being old is hard," she said, half-asleep by the time her head hit the pillow.
"Indeed," agreed Damian, laying down next to her.
Raven yawned. "Night, Damian."
Damian kissed her forehead. "Good night, Beloved."
OoOoOo
If Earth 22 Damian cam do it, Celeste can too, dammit. Besides, the slight age difference here isn't nearly as big as that one, so yeah. Also, excuse the randomness of this, it just popped into my head.
