Marked: Part 1
Couple
(Note: This is a possible chapter from one of my future stories. So if you don't like spoilers, don't read this chapter)
Damian was going crazy. He barely slept or ate, instead spending his time training and using the detective skills he inherited from his father, trying to get any intel. He was constantly on edge, going back to the boy he was before the Titans defeated Trigon. The reason? Simple.
Deathstroke had taken Raven.
It was all his fault. He had known something was wrong that night, but had dismissed it and went back to sleep. Deathstroke had somehow broken into the tower and taken Raven while the Titans were asleep. He must have known their security codes, which meant their was possibly a traitor among the Titans. Who, he wasn't sure of.
If there was one thing Damian was sure of, it was this; he was going to find Raven. And Deathstroke would suffer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Raven wasn't sure how long she had been in that room. Days, weeks, maybe even months had gone by. Her body ached; her skin was covered in cuts, some shaped like 'D' symbols.
The mark stood for Deathstroke of course. She remembers she had gone to sleep in her room and woke up with Deathstroke holding a knife in front of her. He had been demanding things about Damian, but Raven had refused to tell him anything; she loved Damian too much to betray him like that.
Deathstroke had beaten her badly, but not enough to kill her. No, he needed her alive. He had taken a picture of Raven everytime he beat her and sent it to the Titans. Raven knew that Deathstroke knew Damian cared for her; it was setting Damian off and he knew it. He was using her to weaken Damian.
A thought ran through her head: What if he kills Damian?! It hadn't occurred to her that Deathstroke would actually fight the Titans while she was captive, what if he took advantage of Damian's state? That was enough to make her panic; she had to warn him! Damian... she tried to call him through their bond, though it was weak.
R-raven? was his response. Beloved, where are you? Are you okay?
I'm not sure where I am, Raven answered. As for your second question, I don't think you want me to answer that.
What the hell did he do to you? Damian demanded through gritted teeth (well, that's how it sounded). I can feel your pain, Beloved. I swear, if there's so much as one scratch on you, I will kill him.
No you won't, Raven scolded lightly. We don't kill.
To hell with that! Damian snapped. That bastard should have never touched you!
Damian, please, said Raven, attempting to calm him down. I just want to go home.
She could almost hear him sigh. Ok, Beloved, he agreed uncharacteristically gentle. I will find you, I promise.
Despite her condition, Raven smiled. Good, now- Then, something came to her mind. Damian, what about the trackers?
The trackers? Damian asked quizzically.
The trackers you put on all of us, Raven answered. I never took it off. In fact, I hid it in my hair.
Then it came back to him. Shit! he hissed. How could I forget about those damn things?! Hold on Beloved, I'm coming.
Raven sighed in relief. Damian was coming. He didn't say when or how, but he was coming, and that's all that mattered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Damian wanted to hit himself. How could he have forgotten about the trackers he placed on all the Titans within the first five minutes they met?! Well he couldn't dwell on that now, it was time to get his girlfriend back.
The former assassin pulled out his tablet and zoomed in on Raven's tracker; she was in an abandoned warehouse in one of the worst parts of Jump City.
Damian clenched his fists as he put on his suit and made his way to the garage where his R-cycle was.
"And where do you think you're going?" a voice demanded behind him.
Robin turned to see Blue Beetle behind him, arms crossed. "Tt," he scoffed. " Where do you think I'm going?" He gave the older boy in front of him the bat-glare.
"Dude," said Blue Beetle coming towards him. "You think that after last time when all of the Titans had barely stopped Deathstroke and his robots that you can beat them all on your own?"
"I don't care," Robin snapped. "I'll do whatever it takes to get Raven back."
"And you think I won't?" asked Beetle, catching the younger boy off guard. "Look, Raven is like my sister, and if you're risking your life to save her, then I'm sure as hell risking mine."
The two stubborn heroes stared each other down for a moment, silently evaluating each other. Beetle knew Robin loved Raven with his whole heart, and Robin knew Raven was like a little sister to Beetle. Both were one hundred percent positive the other wasn't the traitor.
In the end, Robin finally gave in. "Fine," he grumbled. "But I get Deathstroke, you can take care of his robots for me." Beetle nodded, understanding the boy's need for revenge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looks like Deathstroke wasn't expecting them this soon; there were no robots waiting to greet them.
"Do you think that he knows we're here?" whispered Beetle.
"Doubt it," Robin whispered back. "Raven hid the tracker in her hair; he probably only checked her clothes."
After searching for about ten minutes, Robin and Beetle found a secluded door that one may not notice if not looking carefully.
"Raven?" Robin called out, trying to see if this was the room she was trapped in.
"D-damian...?" Raven called out weakly.
"Raven!" Robin exclaimed frantically, not even caring that she used his civilian nane. Without another thought, he kicked the door down.
As soon as his emerald eyes laid upon the empath he felt his heart break at the sight, yet at the same time he wanted to murder someone. She was beaten badly, really badly. Her skin was littered with cuts and bruises, her face had a black eye and a bloody lip, and her leotard was torn.
Beetle took this as an opportunity to give the couple some alone time, so he stood outside side of the doorway to keep guard.
Raven managed a weak smile. "You came," she said.
"Of course I did, Beloved," answered Robin gently. " Come on, let's get you out of here." With that, Robin carefully lifted Raven off of the metal table she was strapped on. "Can you walk?"
Raven nodded before climbing out of his arms, attempting to stand. She did so successfully, but had to use Robin for support. The current Boy Wonder gently placed her on the back of the R-cycle and got on the front seat. Robin nodded to Beetle who nodded back and flew off towards the Tower.
Raven wrapped her scarred arms around Robin's waist tightly, burying her face into his back as the two birds rode back to their home.
