Bun In The Oven
Couple
Raven must've taken the test five times and it still came out the same: positive. "Oh Azar, why?" she muttered, hoping there was a possibility the tests were wrong.
There was no freaking way in Hell that she was pregnant.
She just couldn't be. Her mother had told her female demons couldn't get pregnant, which is one of the reasons she agreed to sleep with Damian.
She blushed just thinking about the night they first made love. They were both virgins before then, but everything seemed to come naturally.
Raven began to cry. "I can't take care of a kid!" she wailed. "I'd be a horrible mother! Who wants someone as heartless as me for a mom!?"
A knock on her bedroom door interrupted her rant. "Beloved?" Damian called from behind the door. "Are you alright?"
Raven was about to lie and say she was okay when she felt her lunch trying to make its way up her throat. She quickly ran to her bathroom, heaving out the contents of her stomach.
"Are you alright Beloved?" Damian questioned. "Beloved? Raven! Answer me!"
"I'm...okay...Damian," Raven said in between heaves.
"You don't sound okay Beloved," Damian pointed out. "I'm coming in." He typed in the override code and entered his girlfriend's room. The former assassin heard Raven's heaves and went into her bathroom.
Damian was caught off guard when he saw Raven on the floor bent over the toilet. He quickly bent down to her level and gently moved her hair out of her face.
When Raven finally finished she sat up and weakly smiled at Damian. "Just a stomach flu," she lied, starting to brush her teeth.
Damian narrowed his eyes at her. "Have you been crying?" he demanded.
Damn hormones, Raven thought, finishing. "No."
Damian gave her a disbelieving look. "You may be able to lie to most people, Beloved," he began. "but I am not one of them."
Raven turned away from him, not sure how to respond. Damian placed his hands on her shoulders and turned her around, forcing her to look at him. "Tell me."
Tears welled in Raven's eyes and some leaked out. "I-I'm pregnant," she said. Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Damian's green eyes widened and looked straight into her amethyst ones. Gently, he raised his hand to her cheek and wiped away a few stray tears. "Why are you crying?" he asked.
Raven begins to sob. "I don't know!" she wails. A lamp in the corner breaks, but right now she couldn't care less. It's not a total lie, sure she's worried about raising a child, but she wouldn't normally cry about something like that.
Damian was unsure of what to do, Raven doesn't usually cry. She's always been strong and stubborn, sometimes not even showing her true feelings to him. He really couldn't say anything though, he was the same way.
Damian hesitantly brought the sobbing empath into his arms and ran his hand through her hair. "Raven, it's going to be okay," he assured her. The son of Batman placed a hand on her abdomen. "Our child's in there and it's our job to take care of it. We owe it to ourselves as its parents."
Raven caught the double meaning. Damian's mother tried to kill him and his father didn't even know about him until five years or so ago. Though their relationship was getting better, there were a few tense moments between them when the birds were even at Wayne Manor.
Luckily, Raven and Diana, who Bruce had recently married, did their best to relieve those tensions by either changing the subject or pulling their significant others away from each other.
But Damian was referring to Raven's past too. She had told him how her mother hadn't been in her life most of the time as to not interfere with her training. And we all know how Trigon had treated her.
"Damian, I'm scared," Raven admitted, clinging to his shirt.
"I know, Beloved," Damian said soothingly. "But I promise you, we are going to get through this."
Raven pulled away and held out her pinkie. "Together?" she asked.
Damian linked his pinkie with hers. Sure it seemed childish, but it had become their thing. "I promise," he vowed. "You can't get rid of me that easily, Beloved."
Raven gave him a watery smile. "Damian, you have really matured," she said honestly.
It was true. With help from Raven and sometimes Diana, Damian was able to bring most of his anger and aggression under control. Raven meditated with him and Diana would sometimes spar with him. It was better her than Raven becuase Diana was slightly more durable and could take Damian's strongest hits. Plus, Raven's hand-to-hand combat was okay, but Diana was princess of the freaking Amazons!
Damian smirked. "Well, the kid can't have a bastard for a parent, can they?" he teased.
Raven's eyes widened and she placed her hands on her stomach. "Shh!" she hissed. "No swearing in front of the baby!"
Damian chuckled and placed his lips on hers and Raven knew that they were going to be the best damn parents ever.
