The Batclan

Mercury adjustusted her silver domino mask with an anxious jerk of her tanned hands.

Tonight she was supposed to be going on her first patrol with Batman, and his sidekicks. She didn't look forward to it but figured she'd make do. She had almost perfected her false voice, which sounded like it had before the accident, and was now awkwardly waiting on top of Wayne Enterprises.

The only comfort she had was the black cloak's hood hiding her face in shadow. It really helped keep her tell-tale scar hidden, not to mention the missing eye. The wind alerted her to the presence of Batman and his sidekicks grappling up on to the roof behind her.

" Batman," She greeted bluntly, turning to face them, making her black cloak billow in the wind.

" Ortus-Tempestas, meet my partners. Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, and Robin," Batman greeted, pointing out each of the boys in turn.

Nightwing was standing loyally beside the Dark Knight, with Robin close by him. Meanwhile, Red Robin was attempting to make Red Hood stop smoking on patrol. The older boy in his leather coat chuckled as he held the cigarette out of reach.

" Hi," She said slowly, eyes still riveted on the by-play between the two brothers.

" We've had reports of, Ivy, gathering chemicals for a new spore formula. Nightwing, Red Hood, you boys head to the docks where her goons are shipping in the chemicals," Batman ordered in his gruff tone.

Red Hood chuckled as he reading his guns, and grappling hook.

" Come on Golden child, I wan to shoot something," Red Hood chuckled before leaping off the roof.

Nightwing sighed in annoyance and followed the other in a more nimble and athletic leap.

" Red Robin, you and I will be patrolling the outskirts of her supposed laboratory. Robin, you and Ortus-Tempestas will be staking out her last known location," Batman assigned.

Robin seemed annoyed but followed orders anyway, beckoning her to follow him and he leapt off the roof.

Mercury shrugged and leapt after him, calling the winds to carry her alongside him as he swung from his grappling line.

" You're a meta-human?" Robin asked tersely as he saw her flying beside him.

" No," she answered simply, annoyed that he'd ask such a thing. She was an elemental! They had they own race!

" Are you an alien then?" Robin inquired.

" No," she answered again, angry that he'd even think that.

" Well whatever you are, your name is frustratingly long and so will need to be shortened. Tempest sound good to you?" Robin murmured in frustration.

Mercury shrugged in response, not really caring what he called her as long as she could get through this night and go back to bed.

She was getting cramps by the end of the second hour.

They'd been staking out Ivy's last known location and so far had seen no sign of the allusive woman. She'd been stuck in the same awkward position for two whole hours and her body was stiff and cramped from being stuck there. She had envisioned her first patrol being much more interesting than this.

" Anything?" She inquired hopefully.

Robin sighed and shook his head.

With a groan, she put her head on her arms and gave a deep sigh of discontent.

Two hours later she was at her wit's end. Over the comms she heard Batman and Red Robin analyzing chemical samples in the abandoned lab, while Nightwing and Red Hood could be heard fighting henchmen at the docks. Everyone had a job to do but her. She was so bored!

Suddenly the wind picked up, tipping her off to the presence of someone entering the warehouse they were crouched inside. From up in the rafters, she alerted Robin to the sight of the intruder.

It was Ivy herself! The short dressed, red haired woman was flouncing inside, followed by a large pink flower moving on its roots.

" Come now my pet, we will be safe from the Batman here," Ivy crooned to her plant.

In answer, the plat roots burrowed through the concrete floor and in to the ground. Ivy giggled as she slowly seated herself on the centre of the flower and proceeded to check her long nails.

With a nudge from Robin she saw him gesturing to his smoke pellets. Nodding in understandings he cited for him to send the room in to a sudden smoky haze.

Ivy cried out in surprised when she was engulfed in the grey smoke, and Robin leapt from the rafters to sneak up behind her.

Calling on the wind, Mercury floated down towards Ivy, her swords clenched tightly in her hands.

" So if it isn't the boy wonder? All alone without the big bad bat are we?" Ivy cried out in a sickly sweet tone when the smoke dissipated.

" I don't need his help to take down the likes you," Robin sneered, unseating his katana.

Ivy giggled, clapping her hands as she shifted on her flowery throne.

" Oh my let, take care of the bird problem won't you?" Ivy crooned.

Instantly, thorny tendrils shot out of her plant towards Robin, and the young boy set to slashing at them with his katana.

" Oh poor boy, can't beat a poor girl can you," Ivy teased as Robin was tripped by a vine around his feet.

Mercury let out a dry, hollow laugh as she floated down to hover behind Ivy.

" I can," Mercury stated, happy she had managed two words, but hovering behind Ivy all the less.

Ivy spun to face her and a smile lit her features, before the smile faded when she noticed Mercury was flying.

" The newest bat brat! And who might you be?" Ivy asked happily.

" Ortus-Tempestas," Mercury growled out, as she threw one of her swords, successfully freeing Robin's feet from the vine.

Ivy paled slightly but started to shoot vines towards Mercury as well. Mercury waved her hand casually and the vines turned brown and shriveled up dry.

" What?! What have you done to my vines!" Ivy shrieked.

" Killed them," Mercury stated bluntly, before letting Robin hit the woman in the head with the blunt end of his katana.

Ivy crumpled in a heap, unconscious from the blow.

" Nice," Mercury commented appreciatively.

Robin smirked, before radioing through to commissioner Gordan, and Batman about Ivy's capture.

However e was confused when Mercury started to fly away.

" Where are you going Tempest?" He called after her.

" Home!" Was the only response he got.

Mercury sighed as she shimmied out of her black body suit and in to her pajamas. She was exhausted, and yet had barely used her powers! That was the weakness in her abilities, she was left completely drained, and her bed looked so comfortable right then.

If only Damian knew she was a vigilante of Gotham. But then again, he probably wouldn't believe her.
