4// A New Beggining

I walked along with Kate and Derek unsure of where we were going. I looked over at Derek to see he looked nervous. I grabbed his hand and he looked over at me and relaxed a little bit.

"What's wrong?" Kate asked Derek.

"I don't know about this. I'm not supposed to show the vault to anyone outside my family." Derek told Kate.

"Come on, we talked about this." Kate told Derek.

"Yeah, but how do you even know." Derek asked.

"Because you told me. Don't you remember? Tell me if you remember this." Kate said as she kissed Derek and I grimaced at the sight. "We get inside the vault. We get the Triskelion. And then everything goes back to normal." Kate said.

"That's all you want?" Derek questioned.

"That's all we need. But right now we have to get inside that vault." Kate said.

"Over here." Derek said.

"Why would your family build a vault under a high school?" Kate questioned.

"The vault was here first." Derek said.

"Wow." I said out loud.

We walked down the stairs and walked into a tiny room with a safe on the inside. Derek walked up to the safe door and turned it till it opened. Inside was a little piece of wood in the shape of a circle and I stared at it confused to why it was in a safe.

"This is it? You're sure?" Kate asked Derek as she looked at it in her hands.

"Yeah." Derek answered.

"What does it do?" I asked.

"You'll figure out eventually." She told me and I looked at her confused and frustrated as to why I couldn't know.

"It doesn't look like much." Kate said.

"That's 'cause it isn't. Quite the elaborate scheme you have here, Kate. Finding Adeline. Two countries, Aztec temples, Derek returned to a teenager. One that trusted you. One that loved you. All this complication just to gain access to our vault. Just to get your hands on that little piece of junk. Turn it over. Go ahead. There's a scrape on the back where it used to say "Made in China."." The man said and I jumped around to face him.

"You're lying." Kate said to him.

"I admit I have a tendency to exaggerate things. But in this case the truth is so much more fun. Oh, I'm sorry, sweetheart, that little pendant is just a physical object to focus on. It's training wheels. Talia used it to teach Laura. I tried to use it to teach Derek." The man said to Kate.

I grabbed Derek's hand when I heard loud roaring come from above the vault.

"What was that?" I asked scared.

"Is this real? Tell me if this is real?" Kate asked out loud and everyone ignored her.

"Didn't you hear that? That was Scott. I just heard Scott..." Derek said before Kate cut him off.

"Tell me!" Kate yelled at Derek.

"I don't know. And I don't care!" Derek yelled back as we ran out of the vault hand in hand.

                             ▽

We ran out of the vault and towards the noise. I looked and saw Scott, Kira, and Malia fighting the boney creatures from the night of my parents death and I followed Derek unable to take my eyes of of the creatures, they were why my parents were dead. I saw Derek start to run towards the creatures as they were winning against Scott.

"Derek? Adeline?" Scott yelled.

I saw Derek start to attack the creatures and ran over to Scott.

"What's happening?" I asked him in fear.

"You need to get out of here." He said weakly.

I turned around to check on Derek, but instead I saw one of the creatures in front of me. I screamed out as it grabbed me by the neck lifting me up into the air. I gripped it's wrist trying to pry it off of my neck.

"Please stop." I said weakly.

I saw Derek start to run at the creature and hit it in the back. The creature released me and I fell to the ground. Derek attacked the creature and I saw him start to transform. When I looked back at him he was a lot older and he looked like the profile picture from the police station.

"Derek?" I questioned and he turned to me with a look of confusion.

                              ▽

That night Scott told me everything from werewolves to dark Druids. After he told me everything I couldn't sleep well and ended up lying in my bed staring at the ceiling as hours passed. Once I realized I wasn't going to fall asleep anytime soon I looked at the dresser remembering the note. I sat up and walked over to the dresser and picked up the note.

"Nous protégeons ceux qui ne peuvent pas se protéger eux memés?" I questioned out loud.

I read the note over and over memorizing it until I could say it perfectly without stuttering.

"What do you mean?" I questioned the note.

"Gosh I'm talking to a piece of paper right now." I said to myself.

I set the note down on the dresser and crawled into the bed feeling myself finally fall to sleep.

DREAM

I wake up and roll over to roll into something. I sit up quickly when I realize it is a grave. I stand up and turn to see the front of the grave and read it out loud.

"Allison argent, 1997 to 2014." I shudder at the coldness and feel a presence behind me.

I turn around quickly to see the girl from my dream the other day.

"Is that you?" I ask as I point to the grave.

"Yeah." She answers sadly.

"What happened?" I ask.

"I'd tell you, but it's a long story." She answers and I knew she was telling the truth.

"Why do we look alike?" I ask.

"I'm going to let you figure that out on your own." She answers smiling at me and I return the smile.

"What do I have to do?" I ask her.

"I need you first to figure out about your past." She tells me.

"Okay." I answer. "Will I see you every time I fall asleep?" I ask.

"Only when you want to." She answer.

"Well I think I might be falling asleep more often." And we both laugh.

"I have to go, but promise me you'll get answers?" She asks.

"I will." I answer as she faded away.

PRESENT

I open my eyes to see I was back in the guest room of the McCall house. I frowned sad that I wasn't with Allison. I heard a knock on the door and walked over to the door. On the other side was Scott.

"I had Lydia get you some clothes and stuff for today." He answered holding a pile of clothes.

"Thanks." I said to Scott.

"Come down stairs when your done. My moms making breakfast now." He said and I smiled.

"Thanks for everything Scott." I said as I smiled up at him. He returned the smile and walked out of the room closing the door behind him.

I walked over to the bed and set everything down seeing everything Lydia got me. In the pile was a navy blue dress that stopped mid thigh, a black leather jacket, a pair of black heel combat boots, a brush, some makeup, a tooth brush and tooth paste, and a curling iron. I picked up the clothes and pulled it on looking in the mirror to see I actually looked pretty good. I walked over to the mirror and started to apply my makeup and do my hair once I was done I put on my shoes and brushed my teeth before walking down the stairs to smell breakfast. I saw a women who looked a lot like Scott standing over the counter top as she made breakfast.

"You must be Adeline." She said and I smiled while nodding.

"I made breakfast so just take what you want." She said and I walked over to see what my options were.

I grabbed some pancakes and bacon before sitting at the counter top and start eating. I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and turned around to see Scott walking towards us.

"We're going to meet stiles at school so I grabbed you a helmet." He said before looking up. His eyes widened when he saw me and I was nervous it was because I looked bad.

I looked down embarrassed about how I looked.

"Adeline, you look beautiful." Scott said in a daze before coming back to reality. "In a friendly way of course." He back tracked.

I saw Scott's cheeks turn red and I felt mine turn red too.

"Thank you." I answered while finishing my breakfast.

"We better get going before were late." He said before handing me a plain black book bag.

I looked up at Scott and smiled as I starting to walk with him to the door. I was about to walk out when I remembered the note.

"I forgot something I'll be right back." I told Scott quickly before running upstairs and grabbing the note shoving it inside my backpack.

When I got back downstairs I ran out of the door shutting it to see Scott on a dirt bike holding a helmet. I grabbed it and positioned it on my head trying my best to not mess up my hair and with that we rode of into the direction of Beacon Hills High School.

After applying for school and getting my schedule I walked with Scott and stiles towards the field for their lacrosse practice.

"Of course your still team captain. You got your grades up just like coach told you to, right?" Stiles asked Scott as he started to freak out about his position as team captain.

"Yeah, but he never told me I was back on the team. He just told me to show up at tryouts today." Scott said to Stiles.

"We got bigger things to deal with anyway. Did you tell Argent yet?" Stiles asks Scott and I listened more carefully when he said the name Argent.

"I texted him and he didn't get back to me." Scott answered.

"You told him his sister came back from the dead over a text and that there was someone in Beacon Hills who looks exactly like Allison?" Stiles yelled and I wondered how they knew Allison, but decided to ask them another time.

"I didn't have the money to call France." Scott said.

"Yeah, you think you got money problems? Try paying for an MRI and a visit to Eichen House." Stiles said and I felt bad for them.

My family wasn't rich, but we never had money problems.

"Another notice?" Scott asked Stiles.

"Yeah, this one said, "Final." Now, what the hell are we even doing here anyway? We got like 117 million problems and worrying about our status on the lacrosse team is not one of them." Stiles said trying to cheer both of them up.

"It is now." Scott said while staring into the distance.

"Who the hell is that?" Stiles yelled and I looked over to see a kid in the goal who was catching every single ball that came towards him.

"I'm going to go see if I can find Lydia, but I'll see you at practice or if we have any classes together." I said to Scott and Stiles.

I walked to my locker and grabbed my math book and started to walk to the class I dreaded the most.

"I hate math. It pointless." Malia said as Stiles dragged her into the room.

"It's school. School is important, and math is essential." Stiles told Malia.

"If it makes you feel better I hate math too." I said to Malia.

"See? I'm not the only one." Malia yelled at Stiles and I laughed.

"Yeah, well you need math to know how much to tip restaurants." Stiles told Malia.

"And other less important things like medicine, economics, engineering..." Lydia said and I sat down down in the seat next to her.

"Tipping." Stiles repeated and I laughed at how stupid he was.

"Sure, tipping." I said and Stiles glared at me.

"All right, volunteers to the board. Lydia, Diego, Malia, and Adeline." I looked up and groaned loudly when I heard my name.

"Um... I didn't volunteer." Malia told the teacher.

"You did now to the board." The teacher replied and I made a mental note to never get on her bad side.

I walked to the board and grabbed a piece of chalk from the tray. I looked at the equation and cursed under my breath.

"Do you happen to know how to do this?" I whispered to Malia.

"No, you?" She whispered back.

"No clue." I answered truthfully.

"Did you go over the notes I have you?" Lydia asked Malia.

"I didn't understand them." Malia said.

"X equals 25. And sweetheart? Put away the claws." Lydia said to Malia before strutting back to her seat.

I looked back at the board and wrote down the number that came to my head first, which happens. To be 40. I turned around and walked back to my seat quickly before anyone could judge me for having the wrong answer.

"This is going to be a long class." I whispered to myself and looked back at the teacher.

I walked along side Scott, Stiles, and Kira as we walked to our last class of the day.

"An axe murderer?" Kira questioned Stiles.

"A family murdering axe murderer." Stiles corrected Kira.

"This place is even crazier than I thought it was." I said out loud.

"I already heard about it." Scott said.

"Wait. What? You did? How?" Stiles asked Scott.

"My mom called me. She knew we'd see it on the news." Scott said and I saw Stiles face get serious.

"Perfect. Let's go." Stiles said while starting to walk down the hall before seeing no one was following him.

"Woah, woah. We've got Econ in five minutes." Scott said to Stiles.

"All right. Did you forget the part about the family murdering axe murderer?" Stiles asked Scott confused.

"Does this happen often?" I asked Kira.

"Sadly." She said to me sighing.

"Did you forget that your dad's the sheriff? They want us to stay out of it." Scott said to Stiles.

"Are you guys kidding me? There's a family murdering axe murderer and were not going to do anything about it?" Stiles questioned all of us.

"Maybe we should just let the adults handle it." Kira suggests and I nodded.

"So all of you, you just want to stay here, school, go to class." Stiles said. "Never heard anything so irresponsible in my life." Stiles and I laughed at him as he walked away clearly frustrated.

I turned back to Scott and Kira.

"See you guys at tryouts?" Scott questioned before turning to Kira.
"Hey, so that thing you wanted to talk about..." Scott trailed off.

"Yeah." Kira said awkwardly.

"Yeah. Can we talk later? After tryouts? Do you mind waiting? It won't be that long." Scott asked.

"Um... I... sure." Kira answered and I could tell she was sad.

"Great. see you then." Scott said giving Kira a quick kiss before running off.

I felt my heart drop and walked to my next class quickly. I found my seat in the front of the class and sat down before sighing. I thought about it for a while and came to realization.

"I have a crush on Scott McCall." I whispered to myself sadly knowing he likes someone else.

I walked on to the lacrosse field and saw Scott and Stiles practicing. I turned to the bleachers and saw Malia and Kira sitting next each other. I made my way over to them and sat down next to Malia.

"What's wrong with you?" Malia asked Kira.

"Me? Nothing." Kira answered and I could tell she was lying.

"You reek of anxiety. And it's distracting. What's going on?" Malia asked.

"Scott and Kira kissed." I answered a little more harshly than I intended.

"It wasn't much of a thing. And I'm starting to think it never was anything at all." Kira said turning back to look at Scott.

"What do you want it to be?" Malia asked Kira.

"More." Kira said sadly and I felt myself get jealous.

Oh god I'm jealous. I quickly turn to Malia and Kira trying to distract myself from these feelings.

"Is the library still open by chance?" I asked.

"Yeah, why?" Kira asked.

"Homework. I just need to search up something." I lied hoping my heart didn't skip a beat.

"Okay, well, hope you find what your looking for." Kira answered.

I stood up and walked down the bleacher steps making my way to the school library. I looked back at the field one more time to see Scott staring at me before I walked away.

I walked into the library to see it was empty. I thanked Jesus and walked over to one of the computers and turned it on. I searched through my backpack ad pulled out the note from the other night. I opened the search bar and typed it in. I hit the search button and waited for the answered to come up.

"We protect those who can't protect themselves?" I asked myself. "What the hell is that supposed to mean." I questioned once again.

I write down the translation on the same note and closed the computer. I stood up and slung my backpack over my shoulder before walking back to the lacrosse field. When I arrived I saw Malia yelling at the coach and already knew it wasn't going to end well.

"Ten bucks on Scott and Stiles." Malia yelled at coach.

"I'll take that action. Hey! Get back in there, Liam." I turned to see the same boy from this morning.

I watched as Liam ran towards Scott and Stiles trying to get to the goal. Liam easily dodged Stiles, and started to run for Scott. I saw Scott run towards Liam and knock him to the ground harder than normal. Liam cried out in pain and I ran over to him.

"Don't move! Don't touch him!" Coach screamed at everyone.

"I'm okay, coach. I'm all right." Liam said as he cried out while trying to stand up. "I think it's my leg." Liam said.

"I think we better get him to the nurse." I said to coach and we made our way to the jeep heading for the hospital.

I stared out of the window of the jeep and frowned. Before we left Scott and Kira talked about what they were going to talk about earlier and both Scott and Kira looked happy. I sighed knowing Scott probably loved Kira. I stared out of the window again to see the hospital and was glad to finally get out of the car. I open the door and climbed out of the car walking up to the hospital doors. We walked inside and a bunch of nurses came to take Liam away to check his leg. I looked at the nurses and saw Mrs. McCall start to walk towards us.

"Uh... hi, mom." Scott greeted awkwardly.

"Don't worry, Liam. We'll take good care of you." Mrs. McCall said to Liam totally ignoring her son.

"I got to get going. I promised Malia i'd help her study." Stiles said and I wiggled my eyebrows at him.

"Studying." I told Stiles as I made air quotes with my hands and Scott laughed.

"Shut up." Stiles said glaring at me.

"I want to check on Liam anyway." Scott said to Stiles.

"Hey, I don't need to say that wasn't your fault, right?" Stiles asked Scott.

"I don't know." Scott said and I felt bad for him.

"Scott, if you had used any wolf powers that kid wouldn't be limping, he'd be crawling, back to the other half of his body." Stiles said and I had to laugh at how dramatic he was.

"If I hadn't been so worried about being captain he wouldn't be hurt either." Scott said.

"It's okay to want something for yourself once in a while. Team captain, alpha werewolf. You're still only human." I said to Scott and he gave me a little smile.

Please comment below how you feel about the story and what I could do to make it better.
