Chapter Twenty.

Picture is of Sky.

They parked a few blocks away from the building and gathered around, Wolf took a second to check each guy.

"You're sure that's the right building?" Wolf asked Demon.

"Yeah, positive."

"Okay, why don't you and Sky go check it out?"

"Sure."

Demon motioned for Sky and after shedding their jackets started down the street. Sky seemed nervous and on edge, probably because he didn't want to die in that rat trap. Demon was resolved to his fate, he would either die in there or kill the woman he loved.

"Are you going to be able to do this?" Demon asked.

"Yeah, I've killed people before."

"Not like this, with the odds possibly stacked against us. There might ten men in there, there might a thousand."

"I'll be fine, I just keep thinking that it could have been Jenny that was shot. I don't know what I'd have done."

"It could have been any of us, as much as I hate to admit it this war is necessary."

"I wouldn't think less of you if you if you couldn't do it," Sky said gently.

"Do what?"Demon asked.

"Couldn't kill Lacy, that's why you came isn't it?"

Demon slowed down as they neared the large building that King was hiding in, for the first time in as long as Demon had been following Lacy nobody was outside the building.

"Could you do it, if it was Jenny?" Demon asked.

"I don't know, she's not really my sister but.....she's the closest I've ever been to anyone. Even if she betrayed me, I'm not sure I could give that up."

"There aren't any guards outside, why?" Demon asked.

"Maybe they don't have enough men."

"No, they do."

"Then where are they?"

"Inside, I don't like it. Something is going on."

As they neared the building they saw a small fenced in area with all the bikes parked inside, Lacy's bike was parked next to Kings.

"That's Lacy's bike," Sky said.

"Yep."

Demon turned and headed back in the direction of the crew, Sky following along behind him. As they neared their club he caught sight of Ivan and a few of his men. Wolf was speaking to him when they approached.

"My men are here to help, you tell us where you need us. We started this war and with your permission would like to help end it," Ivan said.

"Gladly, alright everyone do not shoot any of the Trojans. You hear?" Wolf asked his men.

"Where do you need us?" Ivan asked.

"Follow my men in the main door, I have a few on the rooftops and some out back if they want out they have to come out the front. Should my men need a push..."Wolf trailed off.

"We'll have your back," Ivan promised.

A large group of bikes pulled up and Ivan shook his head, his ex-wife Laurel and her club swung off their bikes walking towards them.

"We're here to help," She said.

"This isn't no place for you," Ivan said.

"I'm sorry, I think you forgot that you don't own me anymore," She shot back.

"Laurel....."

"No, I'm in this. This is on our doorstep too, we're here."

Wolf looked at Ivan waiting for his opinion on what to do, after staring at his ex-wife for a beat or two he gave a slight nod and she approached the other two leaders.

"Where do you want me?" She asked.

"With me," Ivan said.

"Fine," She said with a shrug.

"You got my back?" He asked.

"Even if you're wrong."

He gave a nod, they'd been married long enough that they could almost communicate without a single word. Nobody really knew what the cause for divorce had been but they'd never tried to take each other out.

"Let's do this," Wolf said.

Demon fell in step behind Wolf his eyes darting briefly to Zeke who already looked exhausted. He glanced up and saw Raphael and two other men on top of a building, a few men split off to go in from the back and as he stared up at the building he wondered where Lacy was.

Wolf walked up the steps and with a quick kick the door swung open, breaking off it's hinges.

"We're here to settle a score!" Wolf called out.

Almost instantly shots rang out, the few men inside had ducked behind furniture and were emptying their guns. Wolf, Zeke and Demon dove behind a fridge that lay on it's side, Laurel and Ivan hiding behind a small couch.

"They keep shooting like that they'll run out of ammo," Zeke yelled over the gunshots.

"Press forward!" Wolf yelled back.

Demon waited until Zeke and Wolf began firing and drawing attention before rushing to the side, tight against the wall and hidden in the shadows he was able to pick off a few men pretty quickly. Then one threw something, it landed on the floor with a loud thud.

"Grenade!" Ivan yelled.

Demon barely had time to register the word, the few men in the doorway were knocked onto the street by the blast, Ivan shoved Laurel to the ground covering her body with his, Zeke and Wolf dove for cover. As the dust settled Demon was aware of the ringing in his ears. The man who threw the grenade stood, thinking it was over and not seeing Demon. A wall placed shot to the back of the head proved him wrong.

"Is everyone okay?" Demon called.

"Are you alright?" Ivan asked, sliding off of Laurel.

"Fine."

"Zeke's down!" Wolf called.

Demon rushed to the other two men, Zeke lay on the floor one hand pressed to his chest. His breathing was labored and the left side of his body was read.

"Maybe broken ribs," Laurel said.

"We need to get him help," Demon said.

"We can't risk moving him." Wolf replied.

"If we let him here he's a sitting duck!" Laurel cried.

"Give me a gun, I'll be fine. Nobody will get by," Zeke said, coughing up blood.

Wolf glanced at Demon then pulled out his own gun and pressed it into Zeke's hand. He gabbed the lapels of Zekes coat and pulled him into the sitting position and leaned him against a nearby wall.

"We will get you help as soon as we can,"Wolf promised.

"Don't worry about it, after that blast I'm sure someone has called the police. Go get that son of a bitch before the cops get here."

Wolf clapped him on the shoulder then turned to Laurel, Ivan and Demon.

"Let's go."

The trio set out further into the building, Laurel dashing to the left and Ivan following behind her. Demon was about to follow Wolf through a main door when something caught his eye through the doorway to the right. He turned and pursued it, stepping into a darkened hallway.

He inched along in the dark, shadows playing tricks on his mind several times. He walked into a large room that appeared to be empty, he could hear gunshots ringing out through various places in the building. There was a desk that he could only assume was Kings, sitting in the middle of the room.

He walked over to the desk, staring at the various maps of the city, papers and photos. He saw a photo of Lacy and picked it up, underneath were even more photos.

As he began flipping through the large glossy pictures he felt his stomach drop and his chest tighten, some were of Lacy alone, some with Morgan, a few with Iris, some with him but what struck his was how old they were. He knew some of those pictures were more than five years old, had King been stalking Lacy for five years?

"Put those down," A voice called from behind him.

He dropped the pictures and turned around, Lacy stepped out of the darkness. He gun trained on him.

"Lacy, what the hell are those?"

"I told you I've been with King longer than you thought. We dated a few years ago and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse."

"For five years?"

"Shut up, put down your gun."

He didn't do as she asked but he attempted to step towards her, she didn't move but she lifted her gun a little higher.

"Stop right there, put your gun down. I won't just roll over and die, not for you or anybody else."

"Alright, calm down."

He carefully set his gun down on the desk, Lacy didn't seem to notice or care. She pulled back the hammer on her hand gun, aiming it at his head. She had tear in her eyes and one slowly rolled down her cheek, he realized then that she was going to shoot him.

"Lacy, don't..."

"I'm sorry," She said softly.

She closed her eyes and pulled the trigger, the gun went off with a deafening sound and it echoed in the empty building.
