Chapter Eight.
Photo is of Ty! I hope this chapter doesn't disappoint you all, I wanted to touch base on where Zeke is.
Ty finally received the phone call that Zeke was allowed visitors, through a glass pane but still in person. He had planned on going alone but Wolf insisted he take someone with him, Becky had volunteered and the pair had left the clubhouse early the next morning.
Zeke was being held in a large prison nearly three hours away, visiting rules were strict and the hours were short.
They parked on the far end of the parking lot, they'd brought Becky's beat up Nissan in an effort to blend in. They crossed the parking lot together, Becky sticking close to Ty.
They were searched when they walked in the door and then given a form to fill out, after returning it they waited a solid twenty minutes before they were searched again and then finally led back a small hallway by a guard.
They stepped into a large room and a few other people were already seated near the glass, talking on phones to the inmates on the other side. They were asked to sit down at the far end and told Zeke would be brought in shortly.
"Thank you for coming with me," Ty said softly.
"I wouldn't be anywhere else."
She reached over and grasped his hand that was resting on the table. He squeezed it in return, but she could see how tired and frightened he really was.
The door on the other side of the glass opened and Zeke stepped into a room that mimicked theirs. Becky saw him first and had to look away, stifling a gasp. She felt Ty tense beside her, and she choked back a sob before forcing her eyes to look at Zeke.
He was limping, badly. His lip was busted, there was a long cut above his right eyebrow, his left eye was black and nearly swollen shut. He was handcuffed but he was still holding his side, he eased into the chair on the other side of the glass. He didn't look at either of them as he lifted the phone on his side of the glass, Ty did the same and Becky forced herself to pick up hers.
"You two shouldn't be here," Zeke said.
"Like we wouldn't try to see you," Ty replied.
"I'm fine."
Becky choked back a laugh and debated hanging up. Instead she forced herself to look at him.
"What the hell happened to your face?" She asked.
He turned to her, looking at her as if he just now noticed that she was sitting there. Ty winced but didn't correct her.
"It was an altercation in the yard, it's not a big deal."
"Not a big deal?! Zeke!"
She started to cry, she couldn't help it. Ty glanced at her and Zeke leaned forward in his chair as if he was going to reach out to her before he realized the glass prevented it.
"I'm fine," He said again.
"Look, Wolf is trying his best to get you out but with everything going on it's going to be at least a few days." Ty said, changing the subject.
"I can hold out a few more days."
"No you can't, look at what they did." Becky said.
"I'm fine," He said, more stern this time.
"Can we get you anything?" Ty offered.
"No, they're paid off they won't give me anything you bring anyway."
"I just wanted you to know, we're trying."
Zeke gave a nod and glanced around the room, then he slid closer to the glass and lowered his voice so only Ty and Becky would be able to hear him.
"Do me a favor."
"Anything," Ty said.
"In my room back at the club under me bed there's a box, it has four thousand dollars in it take the money and go somewhere both of you. Get out of the state until this war is over."
"No," Ty said.
"We're not going anywhere without you," Becky said.
"Ty, listen to me. These people are dangerous just take Becky and go."
Ty glanced at Becky who was shaking her head at Zeke.
"I'm not leaving while you're in here!" She yelled.
"You two can have a life, a real life just get the hell out of here."
"You told me Animals don't run," Ty said.
"I'm telling you now, take her and go."
"You can't tell me where to go and when, you don't own me. I'm not leaving you in here." Becky said.
"Shes' right, no matter what we stick together. The three of us," Ty said.
Before Zeke could say another word a loud bell rang out, the inmates began hanging up the phones.
"My times is up, whatever you two do promise me you won't come back here."
"You're my brother," Ty said.
"Then promise me."
"I promise."
A guard approached and pulled him roughly to his feet, Ty stood and hung up his phone. Becky clutched her phone to her ear and surged to her feet, pressing her hand against the glass.
"Zeke!"
"I'll be fine, I promise." He said.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"
"I'll be okay."
The guard took the phone from him and hung it up pushing him towards where the other men were lining up at the door.
Becky dropped her phone as she and Ty started to leave the room, she watched through the glass as Zeke got in line with the other men. He kept his head down even as the other inmates taunted him, it wasn't like him to be so beat down.
Ty wrapped an arm around her shoulder and she let him pull her close, resting her head on his shoulder. She glanced one more time at Zeke, he offered her a weak nod before turning back to the line up.
The guard leaned in and whispered something in his ear, he was looking at her when he did so. With no warning Zeke swung his handcuffed fists and clipped the guard in the jaw sending him to the floor. When the guard landed Zeke began to kick him, alarms began to sound and lights flashed.
More guards swarmed into the room and fell upon Zeke taking him to the ground, all Ty and Becky could do was watch.
Ty hurried to usher Becky out to her car, keeping an arm tightly around her shoulders the entire walk. He could feel her shaking and hear her silent cries, he swallowed back his own tears.
He had always looked up to Zeke and adored him, it was hard now seeing his once powerful and strong brother beaten down and controlled.
When they reached the car he paused turning her to look at him.
"Take a minute," He said.
"We have to get him out of there, they're going to kill him."
"We will."
He brushed a tear from her cheek and she moved first embracing him in a tight hug. It was no secret to anyone but Becky that Ty had been in love with her for years.
As children they'd been neighbors and sat together in class, Zeke was older than them and often ended up being dragged into their shenanigans. By the time Becky and Ty were seventeen Zeke had already joined the animals.
When Ty and Zekes parents died in a car crash Zeke had immediately returned home to take care of and finish raising Ty. When Ty was nineteen he joined the animals and true to their normal life Becky moved from their small town to the city, following the boys.
When Becky pulled away she wiped her nose on her sleeve and he smiled down at her, there was nothing in life he wanted as badly as to be with her. She had never rejected any of his subtle advances but he was too afraid to make a move.
"Feel better?" He asked.
"Yes, thank you for bringing me."
She leaned up and pressed a quick and chaste kiss to his lips, it wasn't much but he figured maybe, just maybe it was a start.
As he lined up to leave the visiting room Zeke saw Ty put his arm around Becky, when she glanced at him he gave her a small nod. He was glad that Ty was getting bolder, he hoped they would grow closer and eventually begin a relationship. Nobody knew Ty better than Becky and he could make him happy.
He hadn't wanted them to come here for two main reasons, one being he didn't want them to see him in his sorry state, the other being the guards that would then know what his family looked like. As if on cue one of the guards leaned in and whispered in his ear.
"That little whore will be mine before this wars is over."
He snapped, any calm control he had, any part of him that was trying to lie low was gone. The beast came out and before he knew what happened he was kicking the guard in the ribs.
Other guards swarmed in pulling him away from the first one, one of them delivering a punch to his already sore ribs.
"I'll kill you! You touch her and I swear to God I will kill you!" He yelled over the chaos.
"She's as good as mine!" The guard yelled back.
"Never! You can't have her!" Zeke yelled back as he was hauled away.
"King already knows about her, about all of your friends. It's only a matter of time and you'll be locked away you won't even hear their screams!" The guard yelled.
Zeke didn't get a chance to reply as he was hauled by four men down a long hallway, even with all of them and his hands being bound they had a hard time moving him as he struggled. They reached a room and unlocked it before shoving him inside.
"Twenty Four hours in solitary ought to calm you down." One of them said.
He didn't reply and they slammed the door. Zeke sat in the dark worrying about Ty an Becky and hating Lacy for her betrayal.
