Chapter 7 ~Percy~

I was talking to Piper when my mom pulled up. She honked the horn to let me know that she was there. I stuffed a couple notebooks in my bag, said a quick bye to Piper, and walked towards the car. I looked around the campus for Jason, but I saw Annabeth instead. She looked at me and I grinned at her as I opened the door and got in.

"Hey Blue. How was your day?" The smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies surrounded me. My grin got even wider, if that was even possible. I knew what was waiting for me at home!

"It was pretty good. Not much happening. We did get a new student in our art class, though." I replied as I buckled my seat belt.

"Oh really? What's their name?" My mom asked as she pulled away from the curb.

"Annabeth Chase." I looked at my mom's face. Was it just my imagination, or did shock cross her face? I couldn't be sure.

"That's a pretty name. What kind of art does she like?" There was nothing but curiosity in my moms voice.

"She said that she likes sketching. She's really good at it too," I said as I thought about the skeleton she had drawn earlier. There had been words flowing out of its mouth. What did they say?

The rest of the drive home was made in silence. Remembering the cookies that were awaiting me, i bounded up the steps to our apartment. Unlocking the front door, I was greeted with the smell of freshly baked cookies. I paused in the doorway, taking in the heavenly smell.

"Earth to Percy? I need to get in too." I felt a nudge behind me, and opening one eye, I saw my mom looking at me expectantly. I smiled sheepishly. I moved further into the apartment, and dropped my bag on the table. I watched as my mom put one more batch of cookies in the oven to bake. I walked over to the fridge and pulled out a carton of milk while my mom pulled out a mug from the cupboard. I smiled in anticipation as I poured the milk into the glass. My mom looked at me and grinned as she handed me a cookie. After that, I couldn't hold back. I was on my third or fourth blue cookie when Paul, my stepdad, walked in. He smiled as he took in the sight before him. He came over to help himself to some of the cookies as well.

"We need to save some for after dinner as well! You know that." My mom scolded us playfully.

I looked at her with puppy dog eyes.

"You know how it goes. Dessert first, dinner next, and even more desert after dinner!" My mom laughed.

"Yes I do know. Now take one more and go start on your homework while I start on dinner." My mom handed me a cookie and pushed me out of the kitchen. I picked up my bag on the way to my room.

"Percy! Dinner's ready!" My mom yelled twenty minutes later. I put down the math packet I was working on, and walked out to the dining room.

"Grover?!" A head full of curly brown hair turned around, a massive grin on his face.

"Hey man!" I tackled him in a bear hug.

"What are you doing here?" I couldn't believe that he was actually here. He lived in Long Island, but I didn't see him all that often. He worked at a year round camp so he was busy all the time.

"I was getting some supplies for Mr. D, and I happened to be in the area." Mr. D is the camp director. He's often grouchy and doesn't like kids at all, not exactly the "camp director" type. But I think it was sort of a punishment for something.

"Grover, why don't you stay for dinner? We have plenty of food." My mom came over and looked at Grover expectantly.

"Oh, I don't know. You know how Mr. D gets." Yeah. We knew.

"Come on. It's enchiladas." I told him enticingly.

"Oh alright, fine. But it's not my fault if Mr. D gets mad!" We all laughed.

Dinner was really good. Pretty much anything my mom makes is really good. After Grover inhaled half of the enchiladas, we attacked the rest of the cookies.

"Thanks for the dinner, Sally. It was really good. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some grading I have to finish." Paul stood up and dropped his plate in the sink on his way to his study.

"You should visit more often, Grover. We miss seeing your face around here." My mom looked at the two of us.

"Or you can send Percy to my camp this summer. It would be beneficial to him." Grover looked at me. I had never been to Camp Half-Blood before. But Grover had told me all about it though. It was all Greek style, which I thought was pretty neat. I nodded in agreement.

"Oh, I don't know. We'll talk about it when summer gets closer." Grover nodded.

"What time is it?" I had a little more homework to finish before bed.

"Yikes! Mr. D is going to kill me if I don't get those supplies back soon. It was nice to see you Percy, and thanks for dinner!" Grover yelled as he ran out the door.

I smiled at Grover's jumpiness as I helped my mom clean the rest of the table before going back to my room to finish my homework.

About an hour later, I'm lying in my bed, trying to go to sleep. But every time I close my eyes, I see her. I don't know why, but she's always there.

Finally, sleep takes over, and I'm transported to a whole new universe. I expected to see the familiar scenes appear. But this time is different. It's almost like I'm floating. I look around me. I'm apparently in a bed room, though I'm not sure whose it is. The walls are all black, and there's grey furniture scattered around. I don't recognize it.

Then the door opens and my body shifts back. I look up to see Annabeth walking in to the room. Wait. This is Annabeth's room? I feel like I'm trespassing on private property. I watch as she flops on the bed, and Luke enters behind her. Hold up. Why is Luke here? He goes and flops down next to her, and she turns her head to look at him. What is going on?

Then my dream body shifts to the other side of Annabeth as look pushes himself up on to his elbow. Then I see his face. It's full of something I can't describe. Before I can react, he looks directly at me. I can hear his voice in my head.

You can't save her, Jackson. She's slowly falling into my trap. What are you gonna do about it?

Then my dream goes dark, and I wake up in a cold sweat.
