Chapter 6 ~Annabeth~

I walked out of Art class feeling nervous. This was totally new. No one was ever this nice to me right away. The rest of the day passed by in a blur. I walked through the halls, fairly unnoticed.

The end of the day came, and with it, sweet relief. I could finally go home and work on my room a bit more.

"Annabeth!" I turned around, and my cheeks felt like they were on fire. Luke was running towards me.

"Are we still on for those art lessons?" I was kinda stunned. Not only did he remember my name, he still wanted to do the guitar lessons.

"Are you sure? We don't have to if it's gonna mess with your schedule."

Luke laughed coldly. "Drew honestly acts like my second mom sometimes. It drives me crazy."

I nodded my head in agreement.

Luke looked at me. "I'm actually thinking about breaking up with her. Just don't tell anyone, ok?"

"Yeah, sure. No problem!" My heart leapt. Luke was going to break up with Drew? That meant he would be free for the taking. But there was no way he could possibly like me.

"Anyways, I'll talk to you later." He patted my shoulder as he turned and walked toward the student parking lot. My cheeks felt like they were on fire. Luke Castellan actually remembered my name, and still wanted to do the art lessons!

A car horn jerked me back to reality. I looked around and saw a woman with chocolate brown hair in a beat up Prius sitting next to the curb. She honked the horn again, and I saw Percy stand up from underneath a tree. As he walked toward the Prius, he looked at me and grinned. Then he got in the car, and was gone.

A few minutes later, my dad pulled up. I smiled as I got in the car. He gave me a quick hug, and then pulled away from the school.

"How was your first day, Annie-girl?" He smirked at me. He knew I hated that nickname. I punched him lightly in the arm.

"It was pretty good. I made a couple friends, but I don't know if they'll stay." My dad knew that not a whole lot of my friends stayed. They usually last for a couple of weeks, then they get bored and move on to someone else.

"Well, I hope it works out for you. How about we head over to the hardware store and pick up some stuff for your room?" I loved my dad. He knew me too well. My room was my safe haven, and I loved to decorate it how I wanted it. It felt like that was the one thing I could control in my life.

A couple hours later, we're back at home, and my dad and I are working on setting up new shelving units. I love how my room looks. Black walls with matte gray furnishings. One wall is going to be made into a black board, so I can draw, write reminders, or just vent. Once the drawers are done, I position them where I want them, then move on to the fairy lights. It takes us a good ten minutes to get them strung up.

"Well Annie-girl, I think that's as far as I can help you. The rest is up to you." My dad glances around the room as I flop onto my four poster bed.

"Thanks dad. I'll let you know if I need any more help." I pick up my phone, and see a message from Luke.

L: Hey Annabeth, it's Luke. How does Wednesday sound for those art lessons you promised me?

A: Hi, sorry. I was working on decorating my new room. Yeah, that sounds fine. What time?

L: I can't wait to see it! How about 3?

A: Perfect. My parents have a meeting to go to, so we'll have the house to ourselves.

L: Great! I'll see you tomorrow at school.

I grinned to myself. Luke Castellan was coming to my house. I couldn't wait!
