It's a sunny day when Andy takes Remington to the beach. They drive with the windows down and he finds a parking spot on the road beside the shore. "Hold my hand?" Remington asks once they're walking towards the sand.

Andy does. He hands the younger a pair of sunglasses. "I forgot how nice it was here."

"Me too," Remington says, half humorously. "It's really nice."

The man hums, smiling and squinting in the bright sun. "Now, if I'm correct, which I think I am, the house I was looking at was that one over there." He points towards a large house overlooking the sea, complete with a front garden and space for a car. "Gorgeous house, really."

"Why didn't you get it?" Asks the other, following his finger.

"Too expensive for me at the time. I was only young, too. Wasn't sure a big place like that was good for me back then."

"I like it."

"Me too."

Remington smiles at him. "Seagulls," he notices, "that's what they are?"

"That's right. They make a bloody racket."

"Racket?"

Andy leads them towards a sandy path over the dunes. "It just means, like, a lot of noise."

"Oh, so not like a tennis racket?"

The man chuckles. "No, not like a tennis racket." He pulls Remington over a dune. "You saw your doctor a few days ago, didn't you? How did that go?"

"It was fine. She took more tests and told me everything looks okay. Apparently, though, if I bang my head I might...uh...I might...pass out. I might pass out."

"That sounds shitty, I'm sorry. Better protect your head, then, huh?"

Remington nods. "At least I'm alive," he says brightly, and then, "and you're alive, and we're at the beach!"

"We're at the beach! And we're alive!"

"So it's a good day," concludes the younger, "even if my brain is fucked." He pushes the sunglasses up. "Stupid question, but is my last name your last name?"

"Not stupid at all, and it is, yeah. Do you know what our last name is?"

"It's, uh...it's..." He looks down at their hands. "Biersack. It's Biersack. You're Andy Biersack, and I'm Remington Biersack."

"You are Remington Biersack," Andy confirms.

"And before that I was Remington...Leith? Leith? Or is it Leaf? Leith? Leaf? Leith? I don't know."

"Leith, sweetie. Before we married you were Remington Leith."

"How come I took your name and you didn't take mine?"

"We just decided that's the way we wanted to do it. And Remington Biersack sounds better than Andy Leith."

The boy giggles. "I'm gonna call you Andy Leith from now on."

"Can't wait."

"Is your actual name Andrew?"

"Yes, but I don't really like it."

"Andrew Biersack," Remington says, "sounds posh. And sexy."

Andy snorts. "My name is not sexy, that's disgusting." His hand is released as Remington bends down and picks something up. Then he gives it to Andy, who raises an eyebrow.

"It's a pound," the singer tells him, "I found it."

"And you're giving it to me? What an honour."

"What can I say, I'm just such a giving person."

The elder hums and smiles, putting the coin into his back pocket and taking Remington's hand again. "Now I feel bad 'cause I don't got anything to give to you."

"Yes, you do."

"Oh? What's that?"

"You," Remington says. "You're the best gift."

"Who gave you the right to be fucking adorable?"

"God loves me, I guess." He shrugs innocently and they begin slowly towards where the sea is lapping up onto the sand.

"He must do. I bet you're his favourite."

"No, you are."

"Shh. You are."

"No, you are."

"You are."

"It's definitely you."

Andy shakes his head. "It's you, for sure."

"The water is so...oh, come on!" Remington groans. "The word is...it's sparkly. The water is so sparkly."

"It's pretty, isn't it?"

"Very pretty. Like your eyes."

"I saw that coming a mile off," Andy laughs. "So, if we stand here, then we're standing pretty much exactly where I first spoke to you. You were fighting with Emerson and left him in the sea to come insult me. It really was rather entertaining."

Remington looks at the sand beneath their feet. "Why was I such a dick?"

"I dunno, probably because you were an eighteen year old getting treated like a kid by your two brothers, even though one of them is literally younger than you. That's why I let you stay over whenever you wanted, because I treated like an adult and you kinda needed that."

"You were very kind to me, then," Remington realises, "you didn't have to be kind to me after I...uh...insulted you."

"No, but I could see you were a nice boy really. And it didn't take long to get you to open up to me a little bit. It took about a month for you to tell me you had wet dreams about me."

Remington flushes and keeps his eyes down. "That's gross," he complains.

"Mm, I was slightly disturbed the first time I found out, too. Afterall, you were only eighteen and I was twenty-one. It felt a little weird." He laughs quietly. "Even after admitting that, though, you were adamant that we were still 'platonic'. That was your favourite word. Platonic. You'd make out with me like there was no tomorrow, let me put my hand down your pants until you came, and then felt the need to remind me of the 'platonic nature' of our relationship."

"I let you do what?"

Andy chuckles. "You basically begged me for it most of the time, love. Don't sweat it."

"I was that desperate?"

"Oh, you were so desperate. Not only for sex, mind you. You were desperate for somebody to respect you and treat you like an equal, for someone to understand you."

"And I'm guessing you did that?"

"Absolutely."

"So...when we met here, and I insulted you, what happened after?"

"Sebastian told you he and Emerson were leaving and you didn't want to sit in a car with them so I offered you an ice cream and you got in my car instead."

"Oh, you said this already at the hospital place."

"That's right."

"Where was the ice cream from?"

"In town somewhere. I'll take you in a bit, but I don't know if it's still there."

Remington nods and lifts his head to catch Andy's gaze with his own. "Okay," he mumbles, "thanks."
