Chapter 1

The last thing he wanted to ring through his ears other than his fast heartbeat was his alarm clock. Too bad not all things come true.
The clock struck the sunrise: 6:15AM. His nerves came together to stretch out and slam his torture device to put it to a stop. The peachy-blonde groaned as his hand made its way to his hair, ruffling and pushing it away from the sweat plastered on his forehead. It was a fresh new Monday, and the past weekend he was been dedicating his time playing video games with his three friends all the way up till 4AM. They do this frequently and yet somehow he seems to always be the only one strained.

Jake stretched and made his way towards his bathroom, brushing his teeth and fixing his messy hair. He quickly gets changed and makes his way downstairs to the kitchen, where his dog was prancing about, prepared for the day ahead. Jake chuckled and grabbed the leash, attaching it to his dogs dark blue collar. The two of them went to the entrance of the house and went for a quick walk, the dog smiling with his tongue while panting.
After Jake's buddy received his daily morning walk, Jake let him run around their front yard while he made himself a quick protein shake. Today he decided to go with a vanilla flavor with some sunflower seeds within the mixture. While it blended he grabbed a granola bar from the cabinet - almond with sea salt and chocolate. The loud rumbling ended, and Jake lifted the blended cup and into a glass cup to drink from. He sat at his kitchen's black-marble island for a few minutes enjoying his breakfast before cleaning up his dishes and making his way back to the entrance. He grabbed his backpack which was on a hook at the door, patted his pockets for his phone, and made his way to school.

The day passed by smoothly so far, he hung out with the guys for a bit and they had lunch, just chatting and discussing their gameplay from last night. Jake was a little bit too tired to engage in intense conversation, so he mostly ate on airplane mode while spacing out, which the boys noticed but didn't acknowledge.
The time finally came for Jake's least favorite class: biology. He may be good with the math's and flirtation, but biology is for sure one of his most unattractive knowledgeable features. As much as he'd hate to admit it.
"Jake, what did we say about talking over the teacher?" The biology teacher tapped her market against her chin as her eyebrows began to sink in. Jake quickly shot up from his doziness and looked around in confusion. Everyone in the classroom was looking his way, and he had no idea what she was talking about. He noticed some drool coming out of his mouth and quickly brushed it away. He looked towards the guys and noticed their guilty faces plastered like there's no tomorrow. They were the ones talking. Jake sighed.
"Sorry, miss. It won't happen again." Jake turned away and mumbled. The teacher nodded and began to talk once more.
"Nice going, Henry. Next thing you know you'll get detention. Won't that be fu—"
"DREW! If your little friend group won't be quiet you all are welcome to visit me after class." The class flinched as she slammed her marker onto her desk. It's over for us.
Biology class finally came to a stop, and the teacher did nothing but eye the four of us down like a hawk. We knew it wasn't going to go well for us. Jake escaped from his seat and grabbed his backpack on his chair and felt himself shivering at her glares.
"What are you waiting for, man? Keep going!" Henry desperately pleaded for Jake, knowing exactly what would happen if he didn't move.
"You four." A small whine came from Henry's lips, followed by a deep sigh from Drew. The four made quick eye contact before gathering their remains and making their way to the teachers desk at the front.
"I am disappointed in the four of you with your behavior today," the teacher begun, "I don't want to have split you up. Prove me wrong next class and behave yourselves." With her final words, the teacher pulled in her rolling chair towards her desk and crossed her legs. That's our queue to go. We all bid her thanks and made our way out of the classroom.
"She's so freaking scary! How did you guys not pee your pants?!" With tears slightly edging his eyes, Henry held tight onto his backpack that he was never properly able to put on his back in anxiousness.
"...are you saying you peed your pants?" Liam raised an eyebrow in confusion, puckering his lips slightly into a smirk.
"NO! It's a metaphor!" Embarrassed, Henry cleared his throat and readjusted himself to calm down. Henry's sudden outburst caused Jake to flinch, and he rubbed his eyes to attempt to wake himself up. Within the process of doing so, he found himself making contact with something not very cool - a biology project. The warnings that came out of the student's mouth wasn't enough, and before he knew it, he became the final piece of the biology project. It caused a loud crash, which happen to also reach the attention of the most-hated teacher, who ran out of her classroom to witness what had happened.
"JAKE! What on earth are you doing?!" She wailed, her heeling clamping rapidly against the hallway floors. The three friends stood there, staring at Jake. Henry was absolutely petrified, he really did look like he was going to pee his pants. Jake simply let out a grown, grabbing his head in pain.
It happened.

Jake has never had detention before. Sure, he wasn't the best behaved student out there, but Drew normally covered for them. With a deep inhale, Jake opened the door to the sacred room of detention - which just so happen to be his biology room. He quickly took hint of all of the eyes that made direct contact with his own. Five total students, and... that teacher.
"Good, Jake, you're here. Go take a seat over near the testing table." The teacher used her finger to indicate a location, to which Jake nodded. The teacher buried her face back into her textbook as Jake made his way tot he designated location. He heaved a heavy sigh, placing his backpack on the ground as his butt on the stool. His palms cuffed his cheeks as he begun to stare into space, hoping this hour ends as quick as possible. His imagination quickly came to a stop when he heard a familiar voice in his favorite tune.
"Hi miss! I've just come to deliver some papers from the physics department."
"Thank you, Daisy. Say.. I have a favor to ask, if that's alright. I have some books that need returning to the library. Would you be a dear and return them for me?"
"Not a problem! I'd love to!"
"There's a lot of books, however. I'm sure someone here would love to help," the teachers voice began to rise as she tried to gather all the students' attention, "would anyone here like to help Daisy bring these books to the library?" Daisy blinked as her eyes trailed across the classroom, her iris getting ever so bigger at the sight of you-know-who. She smiled brightly and waved towards him, receiving a more awkward grin and wave back. The interaction caused the teachers eyes to avert directly in the location of Jake, mustering a short exhale.
"Jake, how about you come help Daisy? I'm sure you're strong enough to carry some mere books." (1) The teacher gestured over to Jake, where he blinked a few times before understanding what was requested of him. Oh boy. He quickly pushed back his stool to stand up. Seeing Daisy from afar on the other side of the classroom filled his heart with joy. He quickly moved his hands to scramble his things together before being interrupted by Daisy.
"Don't worry about getting your things, Jake. It'll be a quick trip!" Her grin transfer right to his own as he stopped and made his way over her the teachers desk where Daisy resided.
"Perfect. The books are stacked near the board. Let me know if you have any questions." Picking back up the pace with whatever she's reading at her desk, Daisy nods and huffs in determination.
"Yes ma'am! Let's go, Jake." Daisy queues Jake to follow her lead, which he reluctantly does. The two of them go near the door where the library books are located. Daisy picks up half and motions her head to the rest to Jake. His eyes trail to the books and notices The Giver — Daisy's favorite book.

The breeze took upon itself to leave a calm mood in the air. The clouds drifted along the sky to be viewed by someone new. While others were at recess, Jake was by himself, sitting on a bench. He was munching on his PB&J sandwich his mother had made him for lunch. His three friends were playing basketball a few courts down past the swings. He heft out a heavy sigh, quickly staggered when he heard something move into the bushes. Confused, he put down his sandwich and walked over to see what it was. It was quite far away from the rest of the students, a place teachers would never bother to come see. Within a big bush, there was a small hole, big enough to fit someone of Jake's size with enough adjustments. Something told him the noise was a person, not a mere fox or squirrel. He pushed away the bush and made his way into the wilderness, the feeling of being in a fairytale made him excited. He halted once he heard sniffling and huffs.
"H-Hello? Is anyone there?" Jake called out abruptly, making the noises come to a quick stop. Jake continued to make his way forward and noticed the bush had finally come to a stop, opening up to something big and beautiful. A gorgeous garden, filled with lilies and tulips. Near the flowers sat a fragile girl, one who seemed to have desperation engraved in her eyes. Her hair was a beautiful snow silk, followed by light blue eyes that made the breeze feel all the more cool. She rubbed her eyes and noticed Jake's presence, making her shoot up quickly and adjust her skirt. (2)
"Hi! Yes, sorry, I'm here. Sorry for not responding. I-I was a little bit lost in thought." The girls eyes were swelling, clearly she had been crying. Yet a bright smile came from her lips, her innocence would fool anyone.
"Do you need anything?" She wiped her eyes and motioned towards the garden, assuming Jake was here for gardening purposes. Jake didn't know what to say. It was like their worlds were split in two, and the tension of the room was unbearable. He couldn't really say much. He looked down at her as she looked up. She adjusted her head to look at the flowers, but Jake's eyes couldn't escape from her own. Without thinking, Jake's arms were open. The girl noticed this and blinked a few times in confusion. She felt her eyes begin to welt once more as Jake gave her a toothy grin. He couldn't question her. He knew he couldn't. What mattered most was her, and her only.

(1) One of my headcanons with the series dedicated towards Jaisy is that Jake gets detention and helps Daisy (originally it was papers), and so forth. It's all written out in this fanfiction and this fanfic is mostly based around this headcanon I made.
(2) You know how Jake has had a crush on Daisy since the 7th grade in the series? I always wondered how they met or why he developed this crush. I thought it would be really cute if he developed this crush because he realized Daisy felt comfortable enough around him to show a vulnerable side of her, something she's never shown anyone else before.
