tithonia
Tithonia's were one of Yoongi's favourite flowers, as they were to the local coffee shops owner, Matthew. It wasn't unusual for him to pop into the flower store every week or so, with the intention of replacing his bouquet of flowers.
Matthew, as you can probably tell, isn't Korean. He moved from Canada with the intention of living with his wife, and was willing to put in any effort to be with her, including learning a new language. He now ran a small coffee shop, set up to invite tourists who could speak English in. Of course, Korean's were allowed to enter, but it was unlikely nowadays. Yoongi and his friends were some of the only Korean's who visited. That didn't bother them, in fact, it gave him an opportunity to begin to learn English.
He was pulled out of his trance when the girl behind the counter with black hair pulled back into a ponytail, called out his order followed by his name.
"Ah, it looks amazing, Rosé." Yoongi praised in English, taking the cup with both hands and bowing politely, a gummy grin plastered onto his face.
"Why thank you, oppa." She couldn't help but laugh at calling Yoongi oppa, the word had completely been ruined for her by her friends in Australia.
"Anytime." He waved and practically skipped back over to his table by the window, sliding into his place beside his cousin, who already had his order.
"Why do you never get your order in cups, honestly," Jungkook muttered, lifting his cup up to his lips and taking a quick sip, his nose slightly scrunching at the warmth of the liquid. "It's a waste of takeaway cups."
"I don't like using cups people have already used before." Yoongi replied, leaning back in his chair and laughing quietly at Jungkook's now changed expression at his cup, slightly nudging it away with his finger.
The two sat in silence until Jungkook's breath caught in his throat, the store door opening. There was two different groups of people entering the store. One was a girl named Somi, the owners daughter who Jungkook just so happened to have a giant crush on, and second a certain couple with their hands laced together. Tension replaced the oxygen in the air, and Yoongi was sure he was breathing it in.
"Hyung! Jungkook-ah!" Hoseok cheered, and Yoongi could mentally hear Jungkook slamming his head off the table with all of his might. His cousin reached for his hand, grabbing at it feebly. The two interlaced their hands, just as the couple in front of them had.
"Hey, Hoseok-ah," Yoongi muttered awkwardly, trying to contain both his sadness and laughter while he watched both Hoseok sit down with Youngjae breifely, then left to collect their orders, and Jungkook basically staring at Somi. "Do you have to be a creep, Kookie?"
"I am not!" He was quick to defend himself, instantly ripping his gaze from his crush back towards his cousin. "I was just...looking at the customers."
"Sure you were." Yoongi grinned, knocking him and Jungkook's shoulders together gently in a teasing manner, a fond glint in his eye.
Both pairs of boys sat separate, well Hoseok was at the counter ordering two coffees and Youngjae seemed to be watching Yoongi and Jungkook with a look that was far from pleasant. As much as the two tried to ignore it, Yoongi could sense Jungkook beginning to fidget with his fingers under the table, having now let go of Yoongi's hand. His legs were bouncing and knocking together uncomfortably, and Youngjae still did not quit. Yoongi then spun around, looking right back at him.
"You're making my cousin uncomfortable. Do you need anything?" He spoke in the nicest tone he could muster, plastering a fake smile onto his lips and attempting to make his happiness and pleasantness as persuasive as possible.
"I was just wondering if I'd seen you before." Youngjae had a thinking expression on his face, his hand itching on the scalp of his head and one eyebrow raised slightly.
"I-I served you once, at the flower shop." Yoongi managed to spit out, knowing that now Jungkook had spun around to look at his hyung, yet again reaching for his hand and maintaining a tight grip around it in a wild attempt to transfer reassurance through their fingertips.
"Ah, where I bought the flowers to ask out Hoseok." It was obvious that there was a slight fault in his tone, almost mocking the pair and you could tell from his face that he was amused, a faint smirk playing with his lips.
"Here we are!" Hoseok cheered, practically slamming down the two cups and followed up his excitement with a quick and simple apology, a sheepish smile on his face. He was quite obviously flustered, his cheeks tainted and breathing quicker than normal. Yoongi was the only one to pick up on it, and sent a reassuring gaze his way, followed by a gentle nod which spoke so many more words than there was said.
Hoseok sunk into his seat, wrapping a hand around his cup and bringing it up to his lips. He then proceeded to choke on it, when Youngjae spoke his next words.
"Are you two dating or something? You're holding hands."
"They're cousins!" Hoseok immediately cut in, placing his cup onto the table in a more aggressive manner than he intended. This time, he did not apologise. "Jungkook is fifteen, Yoongi is twenty!"
"Calm down, Hoseokie. It's really fine." Yoongi couldn't conserve his giggles, leaning over the table and resting his stomach against the edge, his laughing picking up when he finally heard Jungkook burst into a fit of laughter too, taking in deep breaths to try and calm himself down.
"If you say so." Hoseok chuckled himself, barely noticing the awkward chuckle his partner let escape or the gaze he had implanted towards him. His eyes were trailed on the pair of laughing cousins, a fond smile on his lips.
"Look, we should probably be going, it was very nice to see you though!" Yoongi spoke while wiping at his eyes, picking up any stray tears and forcing himself from his spot despite his chest heaving and hurting from the force.
"I want a hug!" Hoseok called, bouncing up from his table to hug Jungkook, then to hug Yoongi. His arms were quite comfortably around the other's neck, holding him closer subconsciously than he had Jungkook. When the two pulled away, both were red in the face but smiling. Bidding their final farewells, the pair travelled home and left Hoseok with a now unhappy Youngjae.
