How is your feet?
Today's Scripture:
John 13:9-10, NLT
"Simon Peter exclaimed,
'Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!'
Jesus replied,
'A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet, to be entirely clean.
And you disciples are clean, but not all of you."
Observation:
This verse reminded me of how Jesus showed humility for us to follow but it confuses me why does feet?
Then I realized that our feet is our step toward a goal. It is our way to our destination.
Many in our society are leading to a wrong direction, that's why Jesus wants to clean our ways, our feet.
When you said washing the feet, it means dipping it to a hot or cold water.
The same as our way might be tested in a painful or joyful situations.
But, why there must be pain? Because,
"Physical punishment cleanses away evil, such discipline purifies the heart." (Proverbs 20:30, NLT)
Application:
You can't control the pain you go through, but you can decide whether it's going to be a stepping stone or a stumbling block.
You can decide whether it's going to make you bitter or better.
You might hear before that you are not taking your material possession to heaven, but you are taking your character.
That's why Jesus is more interested in your character development.
Do not follow the ways of Judas who choose to walk in the wrong direction.
Let Jesus cleanse your ways.
Prayer:
Dear God, many times I chose to follow my own ways. But then I realized that I cannot find true hapiness on my own. Help me to trust you more in the midst of trials. Give me the wisdom on how to respond to painful situations. Thank you for letting trials be my joy knowing it molds me to become a better person. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
