The Boy In The Window Pt.3
(HOO BOY THIS IS LATE. I'M WORKING ON THREE (MAYBE FOUR) OTHER ONE SHOTS TOO THO, SO DON'T WORRY I'M ACTUALLY DOING STUFF. MY GRADES WERE JUST,,, NOT THE BEST, SO I'VE BEEN SPENDING MOST OF MY TIME GETTING BACK ON MY FEET.)
I looked up at him, surprised. I didn't think it was going to be that easy. To be fair, he probably does what someone to talk to. "Really?"
"Well, yeah. I mean the things I say," He answered.
I smiled, "Cool! Contrary to you, I lie a whole lot," I grinned.
He glared at me with distrust, "why would you tell someone something like that?" He asked.
"Just trying to tell the truth," I laughed.
"But I thought you said you were a liar," He brought up.
"Who knows? That could have been a lie."
He sighed, "I regret agreeing to talk to you," He sighed. However, I could tell that was a lie. "So I assume your name is Ouma? That's what I've been hearing outside, anyway," Saihara said.
"Yep! Kokichi Ouma, that's me!" I answered.
"So, obviously, there were some questions you wanted to ask," Saihara sighed.
"Right," I continued, "What do you like to do?"
He stared down at me, confused, but answered the question anyway, "I like to read detective novels and draw... Mostly the characters from my favorite books. The two hobbies kinda go hand in hand.
"No way! You like detective novels too?" I asked, "normally I don't really like to read, but I can always find entertainment in those! The Kyoko Kirigiri series especially."
"Ah! That's my favorite one!!" He said enthusiastically, his salty and sarcastic attitude from earlier dripping away, "I have so many theories for the ending! It was left sorta open ended, y'know?" I nodded, "oh! Who's your favorite character? Mine is Celestia Ludenburg."
"I expected as such, given as she's the lying antihero. She is a super well written character though!" Saihara said, "But my favorite characters have to be Kyoko Kirigiri and Makoto Naegi. Kyoko was a super well written protagonist and Makoto got a wonderful character arc! It was fun to watch them grow as characters and see their relationships form with the other characters! Especially their dynamic with each other!"
"woah, you're really nerding out over the book! You're a total fanboy! Nishishi!" I teased.
"H-Hey!" He blushed.
"I was just teasing!" I laughed, "don't worry, I'm a total nerd, too."
Saihara rolled his eyes and leaned into his hand, smiling. We continued to talk for a bit longer, before I finally realized the time.
"Ah, it's getting late, I should probably get going," I said. Saihara nodded, "will you... Be back tomorrow?" He asked.
I smiled and nodded, "see you tomorrow, Saihara-Chan!"
I decided I'd come at the same time tomorrow which took an excruciating long time. Saihara was a really nice guy and I just couldn't wait to speak with him again.
Amami and Momota had lost interest as soon as they realized he was just some normal uninteresting guy, but I didn't really care that they were starting to think I was weird.
It was night time again and I walked over to Saihara's house. I started throwing tiny rocks at his window like the two previous nights and like the two previous nights, he opened his window.
"Good evening Saihara-Chan!~" I called.
He rolled his eyes, "you aren't ever going to give up on calling me that, are you?" He asked.
"Maybe if you did something special for me!" I teased, which earned me a interested expression from the Navy haired boy. However I quickly responded, "Nishishi! Just kidding! I'll always call you Saihara-Chan!"
Saihara sighed and then smiled, "Well... What do you want to talk about today?"
We continued to talk to one another about the book and our other interests. We had talked for about twenty minutes before I decided to change the subject.
"So..." I began, "why don't you ever come outside?" I asked.
Saihara sighed, "It's... A long story. I don't really wanna talk about it."
I was surprised by his reaction. Was it really something that terrible? That just fueled my curiosity, but I nodded and dropped the subject.
"He, it's getting late. This was the time you left yesterday, right?" He asked, "maybe you should go..."
Shit. I probably had hit a nerve with that question. I messed up. Hoping he wasn't angry with me, I told him goodbye and went home.
What could be the reason he stays inside? I fell asleep thinking of endless possibilities.
The next morning I woke up early. Well, earlier than I normally do. Early enough to say the food I was eating was breakfast.
My mother was surprised to see me up at this time. She sat in the chair next to mine in the dinning table as I ate my cereal.
"Looks like I can put my theories of you being a vampire bat to rest," she teased.
"I wouldn't do that quite yet," I laughed.
"So what's got you up so early?"
"Dunno," I answered, "nothing really in particular."
My mother nodded and changed the subject, "well right after you came home last night I read this thing that scared me half to death!"
My mom was always one to read those types of things so I wasn't too surprised. "Oh course you did, you do all the time!"
"Yes, but this one was especially freighting!" She said, "it was about a girl about your age. She got kidnapped recently, not too far from here either."
"Hm? Well it was probably because she was being irresponsible on the internet."
"That's what it said, but I worry you know! You never really can tell with people," she explained, "I don't want you staying out after dark now, though! I don't know what I would do if you got hurt, Kokichi!"
"What?! C'mon Mom, I'm not stupid! I can take care of myself!" I argued.
My mother sighed, "I know that, Kokichi! You can never be too careful, though!"
I sighed, this was just great.
"Alright. No latter than six." I said.
"Five," she replied.
"Fine." I never liked to argue with my mom, so I dropped it.
This was going to change a few things, though.
I finished my cereal and put the bowl in the sink. "I'm going to go out now," I told my mom.
"Alright. See you later, sweetheart!"
I walked out of the house and leaped off the steps leading up to the front door. I saw Momota and Amami throwing a baseball, but they weren't who I was heading for.
I walked down the sidewalk a few houses down until I was standing at the grey house, where I did my daily ritual of throwing tiny rocks at Saihara's window. I didn't know weather or not he'd be inside his room, but I hoped so.
Soon enough, he opened his window, "Ouma? Why are you here so early?"
"Eh, Plans have changed if that's ok."
Saihara leaned out from the window and noticed Amami and Momota outside "Well if you wanna talk at this hour, I guess you ought to come inside."
"Inside? You mean... Your room?" I asked.
"Well I wouldn't want them to see, you know," He said, nudging his head towards the two, "I'll go downstairs and open the door."
"What about your uncle?" I asked. "You sure this is ok?"
"Yeah it's fine. He's out running errands," Saihara said, "I'll go open the door now."
Saihara closed his window and soon enough opened the door, "Come in."
I nervously walked into the grey house and took a look around. The walls were a dull blue and the furniture matched the exterior. It looked kind of depressing. "Let's go upstairs."
Saihara led me upstairs and we entered his room. It was cluttered with books, papers, and other little things laying over shelves and desks. However, it was quite organized.
"Woah, your room looks like a tiny library," I said.
Saihara smiled, "Yeah I guess you could say that."
"This many books would last me forever."
"That's expected. I've already read most of them, though. Some more than once." Saihara explained, "They're easy to finish when it's one of the only things I can do."
"One of the only things? So you don't just read," I teased.
He rolled his eyes and smiled, "No, I write and draw sometimes, as well."
"Oh, writing and drawing? I'm no good, but I've always been interested in other people's work," I said, "Do you maybe have a sketchbook I could flip through? If you're comfortable, that is." I expected him to say no. Most people who could draw at my old school did because they were too shy or scared, which disappointed me, but wasn't any of my business.
"I, Uh, It's not very good," Saihara said, "You wouldn't like it."
"How long have you been drawing?" I asked.
"Like, my whole life."
"Then how bad can it be?" I asked with a smile. He shook his head, "I.. I don't have the materials, technical skills, or references other people my age do. It's just not as good."
"Then how about your writing?" I asked.
His face turned red and he started fidgeting with his fingers, "I-It's e-embarrassing..."
"Hmm... That's ok," I said, "But soon."
A/N: WOW I SUCK
THIS IDEA WAS WAY LONGER THAN I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE AND NOW NEEDS FOUR PARTS
but I swear four parts is it.
even if the chapter has to be 5000 words and take a million years to write.
Anyway, I also am writing four other one shots at the same time as this one so HOPEFULLY I'll get them all published by Saturday. If not, at least one or two.
I apologize again for me being very disorganized and for my terrible time management, but I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day!
