Time Travel Twins
Oh he'd done it!
This time Adrien Agreste had really, really done it!
Look after the kids, she said. It'll be easy, she said. Well she was wrong, one hundred percent wrong.
Once a month the Miraculous women would have a well and truly deserved spa day, surprisingly this also included Mayura, aka Nathalie. Though Gabriel never joined the males on their relaxation day (how awkward would that be) Nathalie appreciated the forgiveness of the women.
So of course the guys were on babysitting duty, 'Daddy Day Care' was always a winner.
Even though Alya and Nino were yet to have children of their own, Nino would still volunteer to come and help support Adrien with the twins, after all he was Louis' godfather and prided himself on making sure the kid knew the ways of the world. Like, come on, who else was going to let the mini Agreste know how to 'make him an offer he can't refuse.'
Adrien was holding the play date for Emma and Louis, and his Goddaughter, Bella at their mini mansion in the centre of Paris, and Bella's father, Luka, was also there as an additional pair of hands.
Three children.
Three adults.
What could possibly go wrong?
Marinette was currently pregnant with their third child and baby brain was well and truly kicking in. Twice over the past three weeks Adrien has had to remind her of the most mundane things such as locking her car door, putting on her shoes and even turning the bath tap off. But one of the most worrying baby brain scrambles she was experiencing, was leaving the Miracle Box open, and when the kwami's had freedom, they definitely made the most of it.
At the tender age of three years and eleven months (don't forget it), the twins were curious creatures, and the Miracle Box was always such a heavy temptation. To make matters worse Emma and Bella's scheming ways always came to light and you'd find the trio in some rather complicated situations, poor Louis being dragged along for the ride.
... and that was how the day began.
As Adrien, Luka and Nino waved their women off at the front door, the children had been left playing in the garden supervised by Plagg, Wayzz and Sass. Now usually this would be no issue at all, however, Marinette had forgotten to do one thing. To put the other kwami's away.
"Kids, shall we go get some ice cream?" Adrien called, walking back out into the garden. He was met with complete silence, odd. "Emma, Louis? Where are you?" Adrien began to walk around the garden, looking in all their normal hiding places.
Not behind the patio furniture, or fountain.
Not in the bush or up a tree.
Not in the playhouse ... so that must mean ... "fe fi fo fum!" Adrien sprung out and looked behind the shed to find ... no one.
"Luka? Did the kids say they were going to play in the house?"
"No, they're out here." Luka and Nino made their way outside to where they believed the children were.
"Well, here's something funny ... the kids are gone." Adrien said as he reached for the back of his neck.
"Define 'gone'," Nino asked, looking around the garden for any sign of the kids.
"Gone, as in they're no longer here."
"What?" Luka screeched, running out into the garden and looking for the three children, only to come up empty.
The three males searched high and low in the garden, knowing full well that if they didn't find the little cherubs Adrien's ass would be served on a platter that evening, garnished with Nino and Luka's.
As if the heavens had heard the fathers cries, a blue and white portal opened in the middle of the garden, a three year old Bella falling through dressed as a Bunny. Not just any bunny though, a time travelling one.
"Papa," she cried, running up to Luka and jumping into his arms.
"Hey munchkin, can you please release the bunny?"
"But I like my fluffy tail," she whined, giving it a pat for good measure.
"I know you do sweetheart, but Uncle Adrien needs to go and find the twins and he needs Fluff to do it."
Bella looked between Luka and Adrien before crossing her arms over her chest.
"No! Bunny's mine!"
"Bella," Luka warned, "you know Fluff belongs to Auntie Marinette and Uncle Adrien, you should give him back, he's not yours."
The stubborn three year old glared at her father causing Nino to reel back in shock. After a glare like that he wasn't so sure he wanted kids. Should a three, almost four year old, be able to pull that kind of expression?
"Bella, this is your last warning. Let Fluff go."
Bella grabbed hold of the watch currently on her hip and said the words to open a portal.
"Fluff, clockwise."
She leapt out of her fathers arms and into the burrow, the three males quickly on her tail. Unfortunately, the young girl was too fast, heading straight through another rabbit hole and out into what looked like the streets of Paris.
"This way!" Nino chased after the young girl, Adrien and Luka following behind as they exited the closing portal and headed towards the now giggling girl.
Luka sped past the other two and pounced on his daughter, who thanks to the limitation of the Miraculous, was now beeping her last warning before the transformation dropped. Diving onto his daughter, he twisted onto his back and held her in place against his chest.
"Get the watch!" Luka cried out, Adrien moving forward to take it, lunging towards Bella, grabbing the watch and placing it in his pocket.
"Now, Bella," Nino said, moving forwards to where Luka and Bella were still laying on the floor. "We can either do this the easy way or the hard way."
Bella started laughing again as Luka moved to sit up with his daughter still firmly placed on her lap, arms secured firmly at her sides.
"I saying nothing!" She sassed, sounding a lot more like her mother than her father. Bella usually took on Luka's calm and collected attitude, unless Emma and Louis were involved and then she became pure evil, just like the female twin.
Being born only months apart had solidified their relationship making them as close as their parents were. They constantly looked out for each other, and just like today, they were constantly getting into trouble together.
"Bella, there'll be no ice cream for a week if you don't help us!" Luka said, standing up with his daughter perched firmly on his hip.
"You're wrong," she cried, "Maman will let me." She argued back, causing Luka to roll his eyes. Unfortunately that was probably true. In her mother's eyes she was an angel, and majority of the time she was, oh if only she could see her daughter now.
"Bella, sweetheart," Adrien moved forward using his soft, gentle voice to entice the girl for the answer. Everyone knew Bella had a soft spot for Uncle Adrien, geez all of them had a soft spot for Uncle Adrien, adults included. He only had to ask people the right way and he could get them to do anything, which was a god sent at the moment as Bella settled down and smiled at her godfather.
"Yes, Uncle Adrien." Her voice was as sweet as cotton candy and she had returned to angel mode.
"I really need your help cutie pie, you see, Auntie Marinette is going to be really angry with Emma and Louis,"
"and Uncle Adrien" Nino announced, butting in on the conversation. Adrien rolled his eyes at his friend, turning back to the young girl.
"And Uncle Adrien, if we don't all get home before she's back from the day out with your maman and other aunties." He turned his lips down into a frown, trying every trick in the book to get the young girl on his side.
Bella gasped and placed her hands over her mouth. "Will Emma and Louis have to stop playing with me because I took Fluff? I only did it because I know Emma and Louis get to play with Wayzz and Roarr."
"I know sweetheart, and I'm sure as long as we all get back in time, and I buy Auntie Marinette a big bouquet of red roses, all will be fine."
"Ok then," she said.
"Good girl," Luka replied, kissing his daughter on the forehead. "Now I need you to have a really big think, darling. Where are Louis and Emma?"
"Um - in the park!" She said,
"The park here?" Nino asked, crouching down by the girl as she was lowered onto her feet. He made a mental note to never let his future kids play with these three. Carnage. Absolute carnage. The young girl nodded wildly, as the adults looked between themselves.
"We're going to have to search and find them." Adrien said, looking around the area and hoping they'd appear out of thin air.
"If we're staying here we need to make sure we don't interfere with our past selves, we're going to need some disguises," Nino explained as the others looked at him quizzically, "you know, like in 'Back to the Future'?"
"Fair point," Adrien said, placing a hand on his friend's shoulder. "So what do you think Doc?"
Nino puffed out his chest at the indication, this was going to be his time to shine. After ten years of being a sidekick, he was now promoted to lead. He was in charge.
"Follow me," he led the group to the first store he found selling clothing. Ten minutes later, the three came out looking less like themselves and more like idiots.
Nino, somehow, had found a replica of the spy outfit he wore all those years ago when he spied on Alya. Sherlock Holmes style coat and hat, a moustache and a pipe. Luka had gone full tourist mode. An 'I <3 Paris' hoodie and matching baseball cap, plus a pair of aviator sunglasses, his daughter was set wearing the matching get up, and then there was Adrien.
"What the hell man! We're meant to be walking around inconspicuously!" Nino said, looking at Adrien wide eyed.
"What? This is inconspicuous! I haven't worn this get up since I was fifteen!"
"Yes, but you still look like you, you pleb!"
"Big words coming from a Benedict Cumberbatch wannabe!" Adrien mocked back.
"At least I haven't dressed up as 'myself'," Nino retorted, eying Adrien over once more. Where Nino looked like a Sherlock Holmes cosplayer, and Luka and Bella looked like over enthusiastic American tourists, Bella with fidget tat (toy) in hand, Adrien had decided that dressing as his younger self was a good idea.
"I wonder what this tee is made out of?" Adrien said, rolling his shoulders. "It must be polyester, it's definitely not a Gabriel."
Luka laughed as Nino facepalmed himself. Adrien Agreste, hottest man on the planet but also a bonafide idiot. They all began to walk down the Seine and away from the crowded sidewalks. If the twins had made a beeline for a park, it would most likely be the one near their grandparents.
"Um - guys," Nino halted in his tracks, his voice sounding worried and suspiciously out of character. "Guys - listen - I - um ..."
"They're over there." Bella pointed exactly to where Nino was staring. They all dropped down behind a bench and studied what was happening.
For the first time since their mission began they realised where they were. The gang had found themselves just outside of 'The Libertie' where it seemed two people were just making their way back to land. Luka, Adrien, Nino and Bella watched as Marinette, pure, sweet, young and non hormonal Marinette walked towards the end of the plank from the boat to the land, a young fresh faced Luka followed behind her and Adrien gulped.
Oh no!
Oh no, no, no, no!
Why did it have to be this day of all days?
This was the day Adrien finally found the courage to ask Marinette out. This was the day she turned him down for Chat Noir, out of all days he did not want to have to relive this one.
"You ok dude?" Nino asked the ashen man beside him.
"Yup, peachy!" Adrien sounded everything but, however Luka's glare at their turtle superhero companion told him not to ask anything further.
Luka himself was in the midst of a dilemma thinking about this day too, because this was the day he and Adrien had asked Marinette out and in a shocking turn of events she turned them both down for Chat Noir.
•••••
Emma and Louis wandered around the streets after losing Bella. Their father was going to kill them. He was actually going to shout at them, make them cry and then kill them. Ok, maybe that was a little extreme, but they could imagine their toy privileges were about to be revoked and their backsides would be gracing the naughty step to the point of placing a permanent butt mould in it.
For once though, it hadn't been their idea, not that Louis ever did anything wrong, but Emma hadn't orchestrated this 'mission' as Bella called it.
They were playing nicely in the garden after giving their maman's a quick kiss, Wayzz, Sass and Plagg in charge, however it was at that point Bella 'went to the toilet', which is three year old code for 'went snooping'. She found the Miracle Box and bought out Fluff's watch wanting to play Doctor Who.
Less than thirty minutes later here they were, stuck ten years in the past.
"Do you think we'll be home before our birthday?" Louis asked.
"Yes," Emma replied, though with it being only a month away she wasn't too sure she was telling the truth. "Whether Maman let's us live that long though is a different question." Both twins knew great amounts about the Miraculous, and luckily, their mother had spent the past three months lecturing them about time travel.
Never let anyone know who you truly are, she'd said. It seemed their mother knew their wandering ways would lead them here.
"Don't worry," Louis replied, "papa will buy her those red flowers she likes and she'll be happy again."
"I don't know where he buys those magic flowers from, but they really help her be happy again, especially after Papa has got her cross." Emma answered.
"Can you remember when he broke the vase?"
"Not as good as when he called Auntie Alya a nosey Rosie." Emma chuckled, causing her fraternal twin to join in the laughter too.
"Hey look! Is that Maman and Uncle Luka?" Emma pointed in front of them, stopping in their tracks. The two watched as their uncle was conversing with their Maman before them embraced each other in a hug.
"Why is Maman hugging uncle Luka? Does she not love papa anymore?" Louis began to tear up. His parents were his world. He swore they were a Prince and Princess from a storybook, his grandfather Gabriel being the wicked villain.
"They always hug," Emma stated, "You like to hug Bella."
"That's because she's my girlfriend durrrr."
"Well perhaps Maman is uncle Luka's girlfriend,"
"What about Papa?" Louis asked his older, by thirty minutes, sibling.
"Maman's Papa's wife, not girlfriend. I'm sure you can have more than one girlfriend anyway. Alexander has three."
"Papa said that he's lying," Louis said, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Alexander doesn't lie, Uncle Felix would have told us." Emma argued back.
"So do you really believe Alexander can fly a helicopter?" Louis stepped forward putting his face up close to hers.
"He can,"
"Can't"
"Can"
"Can't,"
"Can!"
A couple of metres away Adrien watched the exchange with a hand to his face. Why did they choose now to have a twin off? They were very much chalk and cheese and will argue against each other about everything and anything. Adrien's personal favourite being the weekly conversation about why an orange is called an orange?
With his hands covering his face he missed his younger wife walking towards them. A serious yet worried look on her face.
"Are you two lost?"
The twins stopped and turned their head to their mother, spotting a crowd of three men and a little lady standing behind them. Their papa waved his hand under his throat in a don't say anything motion. The twins looked at their papa, each other, and then back to their maman and uncle.
"No, we're good." Emma said, smiling a little too brightly at their young mother. Emma turned to check her brother was doing the same, giving him a quick elbow to the ribs when she saw he wasn't smiling.
"What are your names?" Luka asked.
"Um - " Louis looked at Adrien who was mimicking something. A horse? A sheep? A plane? No - a banana? "Um-" Louis said again, turning back to Luka and Marinette with his eyebrows creased.
"Peppa and George," Emma announced looking from their father to the young pair in front of them. Adrien slapped himself in the face again. He only had himself to blame for their stupidity, Marinette would have come up with a better plan, even at the age of three (and eleven months, don't forget it).
"Like the pigs," Marinette quizzed.
"Yup." Emma replied, smiling over the top again.
"Where are your parents?" She asked gently, crouching down to their level.
Everything about the way Adrien's heart was beating was wrong. He should not be feeling like this about his fifteen year old wife, but he couldn't help it, she was so cute and seeing her with their kids, already being wonderful at that age ... well ... he could have just melted.
"School," Louis said, at the same time as Emma bellowed out "work." The twins looked at each other before changing their answer.
"Work"; "School"
"School"; "Work"
The two looked at each other venom in their eyes, they were one more answer away from a scrap.
"They work at a school," Emma explained, keeping her eyes firmly locked on her brothers.
Don't say a thing, her glare explained, causing the younger twin to gulp.
Younger Luka turned around to survey the area and see if he could find any adults without kids. The gang of men quickly picked up Bella and began playing with her, chatting far too loudly for looking 'normal', Nino even beginning to belt out 'Baby Shark' before Adrien joined him making it into a round. Young Luka turned back, an unease in his spine.
"I remember thinking we were all a bunch of serial killers," older Luka said to the guys, "I set up cameras and everything to try and catch us again." The gang laughed before turning their attention back to Luka and Marinette with the twins. Luckily, Bella hadn't noticed what was going on yet. The three euro fidget tat (toy) was keeping her occupied. Best purchase ever!
"You two look awfully familiar," Marinette said, looking at the twins again.
Yes they do, Adrien thought, he's identical to me and she's identical to you.
"She looks like a mini you Marinette, and he looks like a mini -" Luka stopped talking as said blonde called down to them from the top of the stairs.
"Hey guys, do you need a lift back to school Marinette?"
Older Adrien cursed his possessive younger self. He remembered making Gorilla drive out of the way to find Marinette and take her back to school. He'd heard she was with Luka and wanted to get her away in privacy to ask her out on a date. Oh, how that all backfired.
Adrien watched his younger self walk down the stairs and onto the walkway towards Marinette and Luka. A vague recollection hit him about the two children. He never saw their faces but he remembered seeing the back of their heads.
"Thank you for loving me - I mean for offering me a lift - but I'm not feeling too well so I'm going to head home."
"She's lying," Louis whispered to Emma.
"How did father ever fall for it?" Emma responded. Luka looked at them curiously, who were these kids?
"Oh - um - ok. Well, I hope you feel better soon." He gave them a quick wave and ran back up the stairs to the car and off to school.
"How did I ever fall for her lies?" the older Adrien said quietly, shaking his head in disbelief. He was so set on Ladybug he completely missed obvious things that slapped him in the face, such as Marinette's random love declarations in the middle of sentences.
"You were a love sick fool," older Luka said, slapping him on the shoulder. They turned their attention back to the twins and their younger selves. They needed to find a way to get the twins out of there.
"You're coming home with me? You both look hungry and we can figure out how to find your parents from there?"
"We're going to grandmere and gran -" Emma elbowed Louis hard in the stomach, stopping him from finishing that sentence. "That would be wonderful, thank you kind lady." Louis said, his voice huffed from the attack Emma just placed on him.
"I'll speak to you later Luka," As Marinette ushered her two unknown children up the stairs and towards her parents the grown men let out a sigh of relief.
"Well that was entertaining," Nino said, removing his hat and mopping his sweat ladened hair.
"Now we just need to get to Tom and Sabine's and get the -"
"Papa!" Dropping the fidget tat (toy) on the ground, Bella made a beeline for her younger looking father.
"Bella, no!" Luka dived forward, swooping his daughter in his arms and holding her tightly to his body.
"Let me go," she squealed. Luka put one hand over her mouth, as younger Luka turned around to see what the commotion was about. Putting his best American accent on, older Luka looked back at his counterpart and smiled.
"Hey, are you Jagged Stone's kid? I'm a big fan of your dad's work."
Snickering was heard from behind him, as he spun around and walked away holding onto his daughter and still restricting her speech. Nino picked up the tat (toy) and handed it back to Bella who took it to use as a weapon against her fathers head.
"Howdy ya'll," Nino commented, high fiving Adrien as the two of them laughed.
Bella continued to struggle against her father's arms when suddenly Adrien noticed something in the sky. No! Oh, no! This is not good!
"Luka look out!" Adrien bellowed out his friend's name, causing both older and younger Luka to look at him. It was too late though, Bella's toy had been infected by the purple butterfly and a mask appeared around her eyes. Nino froze as Luka held his daughter tighter and told Adrien to run. This was not going to be good.
Superbrat, I am Shadowmoth. I will give you the power to make adults obey your commands in exchange for Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculous.
"Easy peasy lemon squeezy," Bella replied, allowing the purple mist to take over her body and transform her into a pink sparkly Princess.
"Papa one and Papa two, you will be the first to succumb to my demands. Heel!" After placing her down gently, both Luka's dropped to their knees, head bowed as they waited for their next orders. "Now what do I want? Hum! Oh yes! Papa one I want ice cream, mint choc chips in a cone and chocolate sprinkles, and Papa two go and find me Maman."
"Who is your Maman?" Younger Luka asked.
"Your Princess, go and find her and bring her back. I want my maman!"
"Yes, Superbrat." Luka stood up and walked towards his bike, climbing on it and making his way towards Paris' centre. Older Luka heading off towards Andrés ice cream cart currently on the bridge over head.
"Who are you?" A new voice appeared on the steps, causing Bella and Nino to look up.
"Alya, no!"
A shocked expression took over the brunette's face as an older version of her boyfriend jumped onto her, blocking her from Superbrat's firing line. Diving to the floor and rolling to a stop, Nino jumped up and scooped Alya into his arms.
"Woah, this is hot!" She fanned herself as Nino carried her to safety.
"I don't know if I'm flattered or mortified by that statement."
"Are you from the future?" She asked him.
"I am,"
"And are we?" She wiggled her eyebrows, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck.
"You'll see." He dropped her a wink making her shriek in excitement.
"I marry a hot guy!" Her words knocked Nino off guard, and off balance. He began to move sideways towards the river only to be saved by a buff guy in a black cat suit.
"Holy moly!" Alya screamed out. "Chat Noir?"
"At your service, Ma'am." In his usual dramatics, Chat Noir bowed at Alya and Nino causing the latter to punch the guy in the shoulder.
"Are you an idiot?"
"You mentioned that earlier!"
"Why have you transformed?"
"Because I remembered I don't turn up to this fight. At the moment I'm stuck in the car with my cousin's wife hitting on me!"
"Ew!" Nino responds, both guys forgetting the young reporter standing next to them. Alya lifts one hand and pokes Chat Noir's abs.
"Are these real?"
"Excuse me!" Nino looked at Alya in revolt. How dare she oggle his best friend!
"Sorry but look at him!" Alya motioned towards Chat who decided at the moment to show off his older, more refined body.
"You've got to admit Nino, I make the dad bod look good!"
"Yeah, yeah! Go do your thing and leave my future wife alone."
A squeak came from next to him as Alya excitedly bounced from one foot to the other.
"Whatever you two do in the future to look like this," she motioned up and down their bodies, " I'm all for it!" Alya states. If she knew what her future held they were quite sure she'd be taking that back.
"Chat, thank goodness you're here, this ones a - woah! Holy mackerel!" Ladybug landed beside her crime fighting partner and glared. "Someone's had a glow up!"
"Glow up? Mari, I've always been pretty."
"Mari?" Alya said, Ladybug still standing and checking him out.
"Well, you can't expect us to stay unknown to each other in the future. A lot happens that my lady helps me with and what can I say, she sees the true beauty in me."
"You are definitely beautiful. I mean - I just - woah!"
Chat laughed at his wife's stuttering. He missed that a lot. It changed almost instantly when they got together. She no longer stammered but instead it was replaced with her usual Ladybug sass.
"Come on, Mini bug. Let's do this! I have two kids I need to take back to the future with me. I believe you've already met them?"
"I thought they looked familiar," she said as they launched off in the direction of the akuma. "So you have kids?"
"Twins, and another on the way."
"Wow, I'm guessing you're married?"
"I am," Chat says dodging a ray from Superbrat. "She's the most wonderful woman I've ever met, she's smart," he dodges a beam, "sophisticated," dodges another one, "absoultely gorgeous, and my best friend. I couldn't survive without her."
"Awww that's ... wow! You really do love her."
"More than anything, Buginette!"
They continue to battle and move easily together, even though he's not her usual partner the synchronization is still there. After a lucky charm and a cataclysm they once again win. The purple bubbles take over the young girl revealing a sullen Bella sitting on the floor. The young girl begins to cry and Chat picks her up.
"Don't worry my little fairy," he cuddled her into his chest and rocked her from side to side.
"Oh thank God! Adr - Ad - Adult looking Chat Noir." Chat looked at Luka raising one eyebrow.
"You're very welcome, adult looking Luka." The two guys glared at each other, before realising Chat still held Bella. Luka took the young girl out of his arms and hugged her close to his chest.
"Sweetheart, please don't tell your maman you were akumatised. If we thought Uncle Chat had it bad for letting you play with Fluff, it'll be nothing on what your maman does to me."
"Ice cream for breakfast," the young girl said, "all week."
"Deal," Luka agreed, hugging her closely to his chest.
"So let me get this straight," Alya and Nino had made their way back to the others, now all grouped together around Luka and Bella. "That's Luka's kid? From the future?"
"She's wonderful isn't she?" Luka said smiling.
"Indeed," Alya replied, raising one eyebrow, "and this is Nino, so that must mean ..." Alya looked Chat over again and he couldn't help but wince. She'd figured it out! There's no way she hadn't. "No stinking way," Alya's eyes widened as she pieced together the world's most complicated jigsaw puzzle. "This is too good," she started laughing as Ladybug looked at her. "Oh, LB, you wont believe this."
"What?" Ladybug stood staring between them all, still completely oblivious to the joke.
"You'll find out in your own time." Chat said, rubbing a hand over the back of his neck.
"So where are Emma and Louis?" Nino said, only to be rugby tackled into the Seine by Chat Noir.
"Emma? And Louis?" Ladybug's voice came out stuttery, "but those names ..."
"Are the names of his kids," Luka answered, pointing to where Chat and Nino were struggling to stay afloat in the river.
"And what's the name of your little beauty?" Ladybug answered.
"This is Bella, she is two months younger than your two - I mean the two who you met early. His two, not your two, because it's not like you're together."
Chat and Nino had climbed out the river and were back alongside with the others, the former's face looking as though he was going to start a war. No way had Mr Cool just said all that. The dude was definitely losing it in his old age.
"Nice going Luka, my wife is going to kill you!" Chat said, as Nino smacked him around the back of the head.
"That's for throwing me in the river you pleb!"
The girls started laughing violently as they watched the three males interact.
"I can't believe your wives let you look after the kids," Ladybug said, "you don't even look like you can look after yourselves. What the hell are you all wearing?"
"We think the same every month, but the kids love 'Daddy Day Care'," Luka added, smiling at his best friend. Even though he loved his wife dearly, there would always be a special place in his heart for Marinette.
"Luka, Nino and Bella, why don't you use Fluff to get home? I'll take Chat to mine and he can use my Fluff to get back, I'll contact Alix."
After a round of agreements, they split ways. Alya giving her future husband one more once over before heading back to her own, less 'beefed' up Nino. She loved him as he was, but this ... well ... this increased that love tenfold. Yikes!
Chat landed next to Ladybug on her balcony, watching her detransform and head down into her room through the skylight. A lot of nostalgic members came back flooding back from stolen meetings, love declarations and other 'coupley' things that happened in this room. He'd never tell the kids, but it was thanks to renovations in their home and this room that they were here today. That, plus a bottle of prosecco, but they didn't need to know that.
"You two are in big trouble?" Chat jumped from the loftbed onto the floor below, landing in front of his children. They each squeaked before retreating away.
"It was Bella's idea, not ours. Please believe us!"
"You do realise your mother's going to kill me!" Chat said.
"But you did nothing wrong, Papa! We'll tell maman, she'll believe us! She knows we don't lie."
"I'm sure it'll be fine," Marinette walked forward and placed her arms around the children's shoulders. "If your mother is anything like Chat described she'll forgive you and understand it wasn't your fault."
"Do you promise?" Emma said. She pulled a quick grin at Marinette, one that seemed so sweet and angelic, but Adrien knew better. Holding out her pinky finger for Marinette to shake with her own, the raven haired girl just unknowingly made a deal with the devil, and Adrien could not have been prouder.
"Right, kiddies, we need to go. Say thank you to Marinette for looking after you."
"Thank you, Marinette."
The children's smiles were wide, as was his own. Seconds later a portal opened with Alix inside.
"Come on, you lot! Time to go home." The children stepped through after Alix, leaving Chat alone with Marinette.
"You're wonderful, Marinette, in every single way. Please keep your positive attitude, we're all going to need it in the coming months, especially me." He leant forward, placing a chase kiss on her cheek. "You saved me!" He whispered, stepping back towards the burrow. He watched as she cupped her cheek with her hand, cheeks flaming red and eyes glowing with years of love to come. He realised in that moment, that this was what happened to change her devotion from Adrien, this was the reason Marinette opened her heart to Chat Noir. He smiled to himself, dropping her one last wave and making his way back to the future.
NOW
They all collapsed out the portal, Chat calling off his transformation and embracing his children in a hug.
"Don't ever do that again!" He said, placing kisses all over both their faces.
"We're so sorry Papa, I promise we won't."
"To make sure you're good on your word," Marinette's voice shrivelled his insides, hello darkness my old friend. "Alix will be having the Miraculous permanently."
Adrien turned around to see Marinette and Alix standing in the kitchen, looking out into the garden. Moving swiftly, Adrien made his way to his lady and wrapped himself around her.
"I love you," he said, pressing his lips to hers.
"I love you too," she kissed him back before looking at the twins, "and because of this tyrant's quick thinking I can't even be mad. I can't believe you got me to 'pinky promise'."
Emma giggled and ran towards her mother, quickly followed by Louis. The family grouped together as the others watched the display of affection.
"Louis, sweetie, do you need the toilet?" Adrien bent down to look into his child's eyes.
"No, papa, I'm fine." He answered with a smile.
"If you've had an accident, it's ok. No one's going to be mad."
"Papa, I'm fine!" Louis giggled, obviously thinking Adrien was playing with him.
"Adrien, it's not Louis," turning his head, the blonde looked up to his wife.
"My waters just broke ..."
THEN
