So Cool

"Did you know Freddie's daddy works as a policeman? He's so cool, he came into school today to tell us about all the bad guys he's locked away in prison."

Hugo was sitting at the breakfast counter eating the fruit bowl Marinette had prepared for each of the kids when they arrived home from school. Louis was currently at fencing practise with Marinette and Emma had gone back with Bella to hang out on 'The Libertie' so it was just Adrien and Hugo.

"Oh really? And did he sacrifice himself at all for that to happen?" Adrien raised one eyebrow at his son, there was no way his own son found a policeman more interesting than his own superhero dad. Fair enough Freddie's dad might arrest people but it was Chat Noir who usually stopped the worst of them.

"Yeah, he showed us the handcuffs and everything!"

"Right!" Adrien tried not to sound jealous, honestly, but he was quite sure the grinding of his teeth was giving him away.

"Oh, I almost forgot!" Hugo jumped down from his chair at the breakfast bar, and ran towards his school bag, at the very moment Marinette had arrived back with Louis.

"Dad! You never guess what? M. D'Argencourt said if I keep working as hard as I am at the moment I might be up to the standard of you and Auntie K! How cool is that?" Ha! Adrien thought, at least one of my kids think I'm cool.

"You know what's cool?" Hugo said, walking back to the kitchen table and hopping back onto his seat. "This!" He slammed a small white envelope on the table and smiled. Both Louis and Adrien looked at each other before studying the envelope lying peacefully on their breakfast table. Adrien sat opposite his son and creased his eyebrows in confusion.

"What is it?" Louis asked.

Marinette walked over to join the boys in curiosity, she had no idea what it was either. She placed her hands on Adrien's shoulders and began to rub them, feeling the tenseness slowly leave as she pressed her thumbs deep into his shoulder blades.

"Open it and find out! It's so cool!"

"Why is everything suddenly cool?" Adrien grumbled, reaching forward to take the envelope and open it.

Pulling out the contents, he saw it was an invitation.

"To Louis, Emma and Hugo,
You are invited to a Miraculous Party
This Saturday at Le Grand Paris Rooftop,
See you there,
Lê Chiến Finley Bourgeois"

"I still can't believe Kim and Chloé have a kid." Marinette said, taking the invitation from Adrien's hands.

"Neither can they," Adrien responded.

"Why did Fin give this to you, bozo?" Louis took the invitation out of Adrien's hand and read it over. Finley was in Louis and Emma's year, it was Finley's younger sister who was in Hugo's.

"Because Lara gave it to me," Hugo said, hands placed on his heart and eyes looking into the distance dreamily.

"I know that look," Adrien said, wiggling his eyebrows at his wife. Marinette bumped him with her hip and laughed, before moving away to take out the vegetables from the fridge.

"I think it's sweet that Hugo has a crush. Just a shame it's on Chloé's daughter. I probably wouldn't have minded if Kim was the father, however, Rhys, eh, he gives me the shivers."

"Should I be questioning what type of shivers, M'Lady?"

Marinette turned around to face Adrien, pointing a carrot at him. "Don't you start!"

He burst out laughing before turning back to his sons.

"So why is this so cool?" Adrien asked Louis. His oldest son shrugged before moving to grab a juice box from the refrigerator.

"Beats me!" Louis responded, grabbing two juice boxes and throwing one to his dad.

Hugo groaned and took the invitation back. "You are all so lame. Louis, what happened to you, bro? You used to be cool! Now you're a boring sixteen year old who only thinks about fencing and Bella Couffaine!"

Louis slammed the door to the fridge a lot more aggressively than he meant to. "No I don't!" He yelled back, looking at his parents for a reaction.

"You do too, I've heard you kissing your pillow and practising 'Oh Bella, you have such wonderful blue eyes, they're like the sea the way they pull me in. Will you be my lady?' You're cheesier than dad."

"Hey!" Louis and Adrien said at the same time, causing Hugo to cackle on his chair.

"Louis," Marinette said, stepping forward to comfort her son. She wasn't at all surprised to hear he was attracted to Bella. She had her parents genes and he had his, it was obvious some sort of twisted love would develop there.

"I'm going to my room," Hugo continued to laugh as Louis stormed upstairs, slamming the door and causing both his parents to wince.

"Anyway," Hugo continued, "as I was saying, Finley's stepdad is going to be playing Chat Noir in the live action movie. It's so awesome! Apparently they're going to let him borrow the suit for the party, and he's going to show everyone how to vault using the baton. Just imagine! Being in a Hollywood blockbuster!" Hugo hopped off the chair and moved to the door, "Finley is so lucky!"

Marinette could practically hear Adrien grinding his teeth and she could help but chuckle.

"Let it go, Kitty."

"Why? So you can run off into the sunset with Rhys?" Adrien said, grabbing an extra knife and a couple of carrots. He was stabbing them with enough force Marinette thought he was going to break the granite, it was expensive granite too!

"Adrien, stop!" She stopped what she was doing and looked at her husband.

"I'm the real life Chat Noir, and my son, my own flesh and blood, thinks it's cooler to be the actor in the film." A carrot lost its head, quite violently.

"Adrien-"

"I was meant to play that part, but no Little Miss Ladybug, protector of mankind said 'no' in case it reveals our identities." He slammed the knife down again, cutting the poor defenceless carrot in half.

Marinette chuckled, placing one hand over the top of his so he wouldn't massacre anymore vegetables. "Go and get Emma from the boat and try to calm down. You're still his number one, you know that."

Hugo was growing up and it made Adrien reminiscent of the older days where he was the number one hero in Hugo's eyes. He had a close relationship with the twins, and he loved them dearly, but Hugo was his partner in crime. They had an incredibly special bond, and he hated the fact that with age, they were losing it. Or so he thought.

"Fine! But I'm doing it because I want to, not because you're trying to get me out the house."

"Sure," Marinette said, stretching onto her tiptoes and kissing her darling husband, who sometimes she wanted to throttle.

Adrien turned around and started walking to the door to grab his keys and wallet.

"Miss goody two shoes Ladybug," Marinette couldn't help contain the smile as she listened to him rant quietly in the hallway, her eyes firmly on the carrots. That was until he attempted to mimic her voice. "You can't do that Chaton, people will find out who we are and the world will explode." She could no longer hold onto her laughter as she responded to her husband.

"The moon," she shouted back, laughter bubbling in her chest.

"Yeah, whatever. Louis," he hollered, "I'm going to get your sister." The older Agreste came barrelling out of his room, one shoe on and the other in his hand. When he saw his parents looking at him, he slowed his walk and lifted his chin up "cool, maybe I'll come for the ride."

Adrien and Marinette shared a look before smiling at each other. Louis couldn't be any more obvious if he tried. He made Adrien look perceptive in his teenage years. As Louis corrected his shoes, Adrien noticed a little box in his opposite hand. What was his son bringing with him?

"Love you," Marinette called, watching Adrien and Louis leave the house.

"Yeah, whatever," he responded before sighing and dropping his head in defeat. He turned back shyly, the grin she adored plastered on his face "Love you too, Bug."

With that he closed the door and made his way to the car with his son. Hopefully Luka would be around to let off some steam.

"Hey Kagami," Adrien walked onto 'The Liberty' with Louis trailing behind. The girls were currently sitting around giggling as they plaited Bella's younger sister, Morning's hair. He bent down to his smaller friend and placed a kiss on each cheek before heading off to greet the girls.

"What's happening here?" He crossed his arms and smiled down at the group only for Morning to snap at and then growl at Adrien. Even though Morning had been adopted at a young age, three months to be precise, for some reason she never clicked with Adrien, and he wasn't sure why?

"We're practising braids, Uncle Adrien. Oh, have you heard about Finley's party?"

"Yes," he said through gritted teeth before looking back at Kagami. "Is Luk here?"

"He's in the workshop." She said, making her way down to her six year old. Morning was still trying to get at Adrien, and even though she wasn't genetically Kagami's the kid held as much fire in her.

Adrien tapped his son on the shoulder as he approached the top of the staircase. "Helpful hint for you here, Lou, stop the drooling."

Walking past his son he continued down into Luka's workshop, only to find the bluenette holding the most exquisite violin up to the window, eyes closed and listening to the sound.

"You are a strange dude."

"Say what you want, Agreste, I'm not the one being replaced." Luka's eyes were still closed and his ear to the strings as he spoke.

"Agree with me though, it's weird."

Luka placed the violin down and dusted off his hands before walking to Adrien. "I never said it wasn't." He held his fist out for Adrien to bump. The two said their non-vocal 'hello' before heading back up to the deck.

"Do you think he'll be like me?"

Luka burst out laughing. "No one can be that cheesy, man."

"I bet he can't pun as good as me," Adrien pouted.

"Certainly not."

"Or flirt with LB like me?"

"I'm sure they will have written the flirting better than what you used to do."

"I'll fire you from the team, Couffaine."

"I don't think your wife would agree, Agreste."

They both hopped up onto the deck and watched the awkward interaction in front of them. Emma was finishing Morning's hair chatting away with Kagami, whilst Louis and Bella were in their own little conversation to the side.

"So," Louis was saying, "I, uh, I wanted to, um, gift you a make— I mean, gift you a give I made— I mean..."

"Woah," Luka breathed out, "I didn't realise how similar to his mother he was!"

"He's definitely not as smooth as his father."

Adrien watched Louis stumble over his words as he practically threw the present at Bella. He couldn't help but wince at how much like Marinette his son was. Looking at the display in front of him now, how he had never realised what Marinette's word stumbling had actually meant. It's so obvious Louis was infatuated with the girl.

"Kids, come on, dinner will be ready."

He gathered up his kids, saying his goodbyes to the rest of the Couffaine family (and dodging the snapping jaws of Morning) before heading back to the car.

It was safe to say he was not looking forward to Saturday.

•••••

Marinette always concentrated on making sure the kids didn't show the family up. They were Agreste's and although Gabriel (rest his soul) had gone, the name still meant something. So when Rhys Riley hit on her, she politely excused herself and went in search of her husband, and when Chloé attempted to critique her outfit she politely said she would consider those options next time. However, when she saw Rhys change into his suit and imitate her husband, she may have gotten a little angry.

That was not how it's done!

"Let it go, M'Lady!" Adrien placed his hands on Marinette's hips and brought his lips down to her ear. He was over it! The dude looked like a douche and acted like one too. There was no way Hugo would leave thinking he was cool.

"He's making you look like an idiotic sidekick," she hissed back.

"Sometimes I was," Adrien shrugged, grabbing an orange juice from a waiter waltzing past.

"No you were not," she was angry to the point of turning red and Adrien was quite sure her ears were sprouting steam.

"Marinette, stop! What are you going to do? Transform and yeet him off the building?"

"Now you've said that..."

"Maman no!" Emma had appeared alongside them and her face looked mortified.

"I'm not going to do anything, I'm just saying he's nothing like your father."

"And he's nothing like mine either." Bella had appeared next to Emma and was pointing over into the distance. There, beside Rhys, was Viperion, well, Viper-moron ... because there was no way Luka looked or acted like that.

"Chat Noir," the snake exclaimed, "I summon you to a duel to win the lady's heart." As if the world's worst pantomime had arrived in Paris, Chloé Bourgeois then completed the show by walking out in a Ladybug costume.

Marinette looked towards Kagami, who handed Morning over to gobsmacked Luka. Without saying a word they both headed off the rooftop and into the emergency stairwell.

Adrien couldn't believe what he was watching. Chat Noir vs Viperion for Ladybug ... that never happened. Nothing like that ever happened. Of course there was the whole dating to get over each other only to end up under each other again, but that was as civilians not heroes.

"This is crazy! Dad, why did you cataclysm Uncle Luka?" Hugo was now standing alongside the rest of his family as they all watched the display in front of them.

"I didn't ... I never ... I don't think I did."

Suddenly, two streaks of red made it onto the rooftop and this time it wasn't playing make believe.

"I can't believe she's done that," Adrien said, looking at his wife now pulling out some pretty impressive yo-yo tricks, Ryuuko standing behind and a smirk on her face.

"Now, now boys! You need to play nice." Ladybug said, wrapping the two men up in her yo-yo before signalling to Ryuuko. Wind dragon was summoned and began to lift the two men in the air. Both were now squealing and screaming at the top of their lungs. The sound was high pitched and extremely childlike.

"I heard someone say my partner is a sidekick? I must admit, if I hear that again I might not be too nice next time."

They lowered the men into a collapsed heap on the floor as the kids around them cheered. Ladybug turned her head to meet her husband. That look in his eyes was one of pure lust, and she couldn't wait for the kids to be in bed.

•••••

"So, Hugo, was the party everything you thought it would be?" Adrien asked as the five made their way home.

"No way! It was better! Did you see how cool Auntie Kagami is?"

Marinette froze in her tracks as her children continued gushing about their aunt as they walked home.

"You know," Adrien wrapped his arms around his wife's waist, "it doesn't matter what they think. I know you're the coolest, and most amazing superhero there ever was. After all, I wouldn't have married you if not." He brushed his nose against hers and she couldn't help but laugh.

"I don't know if you've just praised me, or praised yourself."

"You, my beautiful bug. It'll always be you." He leant down and took her lips with his, enjoying the feel of kissing like teenagers again.

"Ew!"

"That's gross!"

"Just stop it will you."

The heckling from their children pulled them apart and they looked down the street to where all three of their children had stopped.

"What do you think M'Lady? Do they need some exercise?"

"Most certainly, Chaton." Interlocking their fingers they speedily made their way to their children, smiles pulling against their lips.

It took each Agreste approximately two seconds to understand what was happening, each darting into a different alleyway and away from their parents.

For the next hour, two vetron heroes and three 'heroes in training' bounded over the rooftops of Paris making one thing for certain; no one was as cool as this family.

No one was as cool as the Agrestes.
