"You seem awfully cheerful today, Mendes."
Ryan passes by my desk, laughing while he flips through paper work. I nervously laugh, well the love of my life is finally back in my life. And to top it all off, she told me she loved me.
"Just a happy day, Boss."
He nods, walking back to his office. I stare at my phone, hm..
"Hello?"
The angelic sound that I call her voice rings through the device, I feel my hands begin to build sweat.
"H-Hey, Edwina! It's Shawn, do you mind if I spend some time with Isabella at your place after my shifts over?"
I stutter, the line is silent, my heart skips a beat. Too soon?
"Oh, yeah.. Sure, I don't mind."
Her voice incoherent, gotta make it worth while.
"Thanks, I'll see you than."
"Goodbye."
Wait, I'm forgetting something.
"Wait!"
"Hmm?"
She hums, waiting for me to continue. I take a few minutes to think this through.
"I love you."
My voice gentle, and honest. Knowing Edwina, she must be smiling on the other side.
"I love you too, now go back to work ya goof."
She scolds, before hanging up. God, I love that woman. As I click out of my browsers tab, I see a folder labeled, Family. I click on it, seeing multiple images of Me, Isabella, and Edwina. I remember taking these years ago, during picnics, concerts, tours, and other places. All the memories I've saved, made me realize how much I've really missed her.
Later That Afternoon
"I'd like to take the pink and white bouquet, please."
I tell the clerk, she smiles kindly, grabbing the bouquet of roses. And handing them to me as she rings me up at the cashier.
"Wife?"
I stop looking around, as the nice old clerk handed me the roses. Nodding proudly, she claps her hands.
"It's been so long since a gentleman has boughten flowers for their woman here!"
I lightly laugh.
"Well be aware that this won't be my last trip,"
Glancing at her name tag.
"Cecilia."
She waves me goodbye, as I smell the scent of the flowers in my hand. She loved roses, I hope she accepts these. I press on the gas a little harder, as I get closer to her house. The nervousness I get around her, even until now, is insane. Finally pulling up in her driveway, I walk up her steps, and to her brown door.
I didn't know if I was stable enough to knock due to my hand shaking. Some of the rose petals fell off is how bad I was shaking, get a hold of yourself, Shawn! My knuckles find their way beating against her wooden door, I quickly shuffle in place. Fixing my hair in the glass window, I see her coming.
"Shawn,"
Her voice is breathless, she wore a black bodycon that was just over her knees. It framed her body perfectly, the curves and thick thighs. She had heels on, and looked like she was in a rush. Her eyes were wide.
"Edwina,"
My eyes scan her up and down, resting at her beautiful brown orbs. I hear footsteps running behind her.
"Is that Da-"
Isabella peeks from the side of Edwina, her eyes lighting up. She runs towards me, with open arms, I embrace her warmly.
"Dad!"
"Hey, sweetie."
She smiles against my chest, Edwina leans against her door post. Watching us bond, if it was my imagination, I swear her eyes had become glossy. I pull apart from Isabella.
"May I come in?"
She smiles, opening the door wider.
"Make yourself at home."
I take off my shoes, as Edwina disappears to her kitchen. Leaving me and Isabella in the living room.
"How's school going, honey?"
"It's been good, boring, but I got the honor roll again!"
I rub her head messily, smiling.
"My little Einstein."
She giggles, whining since I slightly messed her hair up. I had one question..
"Why is Edwina so dressed up?"
My voice barely above a whisper, Isabella leans toward my ear.
"She was planning on attending a meeting, but since you made it here on time. I guess she's cancelling it."
She'd cancel for me? I raise my eyebrows.
"I shouldn't be her priority, her work is very important. It's not like we're married again."
I playfully say, Isabella's face saddens.
"Mom really loves you, Dad. You shouldn't be surprised if you two find each other's path again."
Isabella's tone is truthful, shock flows through me. Edwina and I together again? Is that even possible? Isabella always told me how much Edwina loves me, but she had so much time to find someone else. The sound of heels come our way.
"Get ready for bed, sweetie."
Isabella gets up from the couch, hugging Edwina, and waving goodbye to me. Isabella is gone and upstairs now, just the two of us. Edwina sighs, walking over to me, my eyes widen. She plops down next to me, her hair flying back. Wow, she's gorgeous.
"So ho-"
Before I start a conversation, she cuts me off.
"Do you want to go to dinner with me?"
Butterflies filled my stomach, she stopped looking at the ceiling. And towards me, her lashes bounced against each other. As she waited for me to answer, I stop staring at her. My mouth almost open.
"Shawn, it's a yes or no question."
I still don't know what to say, I was always at a loss of words when around her. She asked me so suddenly what am I- She stands up abruptly, dusting off her dress.
"If you don't want too eat with me, I'll go find someone who will."
She shrugs, walking away, what! Hell no. I stand up quickly, grabbing her arm, and pushing her against the wall. She gasps at my sudden action, completely spontaneous and dominant. Holding her hands against her lower back, I lean into her ear.
"You're mine. Got it? No one else's, darling. So be a good girl, and don't push Daddy's buttons."
Goddamn, it's been forever since I've called myself that. I see that her cheeks has heated up, and her hips squirm. I inhale her scent, her hair falling down her shoulders. I wait for her to obey, soon enough, she does.
"Yes,"
I push her against the wall even harder, my other hand pushing against her sex. She whimpers at my touch.
"Yes what?"
She knew the rules, it's only right if she followed them. She was helpless against me.
"Yes, sir."
I smirk satisfied, letting go of her slowly. As she moves undone just as slow, she looks down, embarrassed. Oh, babygirl. My finger lifts her chin up, so she looks at me, I see the love she has for me. Beaming at my soul, she was flushed, and finally was able to calm down at the sensual moment previously.
I fix my shirt, straightening it, glancing at my watch.
"Anyways, about dinner..."
