22.Me Before You

Steve's party borrowed a quinjet as they went in the air, free to discuss their plan while everyone else dealt with everything else. Tony and Nat went to find Bruce. Thor and Loki obviously stayed with Steve. Clint piloted the jet, despite all his feelings towards Loki.

Thankfully Sharon was with them as well, helping them work with the technology. The plane went on autopilot and Clint took a break, leaning isolated over a rail. With everyone busy, Loki was the one to notice Clint's unease.

"Thank you." He said as he snuck up next to the archer,

"Jesus!" Barton shrieked with a start. "What for?"

"For helping us find Eira." Loki stared out, hands behind his back. "I know you'd rather be anywhere else."

"Not at the moment, no. I'd be doing everything I could too if it were my baby girl."

"I'm glad it works for you, the whole keeping your family a secret." Clint had told Loki everything under the spell.

"Yeah, it's a blessing. Why, didn't work for you?"

"I was too afraid to try. My wife, Sigyn, she wanted to spread that Eira had died. So no one could harm her. It took the Celestials invading for me to send away my daughter." Loki looked mournfully as he told Clint his story.

"Where's Sigyn now?" Clint dared ask.

"She died that night. Not long after we'd sent Eira off. She tried to hold them, but they were too much. Thor and Odin were in Niflheim. They came back too late." Loki's face started turning blue in sadness and anger. "Asgard won though."

"I'm sorry man. Don't worry though," Clint clapped a hand on Loki's shoulder as he returned, "we're gonna get your daughter back."

Loki managed a broken smile and said thanks.

Below them on the floor of the jet, Loki and Clint turned as Steve punched the wall while Sharon and Jarvis worked to create a map.

"I hate standing by. She looked so scared." He slammed both hands on the back of a seat as he leaned. "Can't you pick up faster?"

"Now isn't the time for her to be scared, Captain. She should be mad. Angry!" Loki suggested as he joined them.

"I wouldn't suggest that to her! Didn't go so well the first time."

This intrigued the God of mischief. "Do explain."

"Well, she kinda exploded with anger when she saw SHIELD at the gym. Had this whole cloud around her; impenetrable. Put her in a coma for weeks."

Despite Steve's obvious worry, Loki was delighted.

"This you should have said earlier, Captain. Let's take our girl to school."

Kiera sat defeated in her cell, her body hurting from the punishment they'd given her. She wondered how long they would keep her here. Steve couldn't come save her, he didn't know what HYDRA had in store for him. And dad; oh dad! They were gonna do worse with him. Maybe they could just kill her, soon. As she sat thinking dreadful thoughts, a glimmering portal began in the room, solidifying to reveal her father.

"Dad?!" She looked up to his astral form.

"Hi, elska! Now I hear you've tapped into your powers?"

"Not intentionally!" She cried, "it ended up disastrous!"

"Well my dear, it's the disaster we want! You'll have to focus that energy and control it."

"I can't! I'll... I'll fail!"

"Failure is not an option. Your mother used to say that you'd be the best sorceress the world had ever seen. You can't do that without practice. Now up and at it, I'll guide you."

"Okay." Kiera forced herself to her feet and took a breath.

"You need to let go of your fear. Be angry. Be mad!" Loki coached.

Kiera wiggled her arms out and shook her shoulders, riling herself up.

"Not feeling it."

"Come on, think! Bring back all the terrible horrible memories that make you angry. Your brother, your parents, your childhood!"

Kiera focused on her dad's words. SHIELD had used her brother, made him into a mindless soldier. They killed her mother! She had spent her whole childhood on the run because of them! And her real mom! Someone had taken her from them! Someone had hurt her family! The universe hated her! She'd hate the universe back!

Once again the white green aura overcame her body and mind, her eyes glowing fiercely.

"Well done! Now don't let it control you! You are its master. Focus all this energy into a single point. Most wizards choose the palm of their hands. Draw all this cloud of energy into your hands."

Loki's voice drifted into her ears however dimly, but she concentrated real hard. The cloud of power around her slowly simmered, you could see it travel towards her hands as it shrunk.

"Beautiful. Now we're gonna need to let your friends know where you are. Weaponize your power. Stream it at a target. Make it explode so we can trace you."

With her eyes shut tight, her negative thoughts boiled in her mind. And then she opened her eyes, staring at the ceiling. With her hands pointed up as well, Kiera yelled as she shot her power at the ceiling, blaming it for all the misery in her life.

Loki's projections winded out and the real one was in the company of the others as they picked up the energy spike at one of the locations on JARVIS's map.

"There!" Sharon pointed at the red mark that beeped, and Clint put in the coordinates, flying the jet at the fastest speed.

Down in the bunker, the HYDRA agents had made their way to Kiera, but she mowed them down, unintentionally as she lost control of her power. It didn't matter that they kept dropping, as more and more came like a herd. That's what hydra was, after all. Cut off one head, two more grow in its place. She'd just about become exhausted when her cloud of power got hit with a blast of lightening, sending a shockwave around her that finally knocked her unconscious. The ground broke as the God of Thunder landed, leading the others right behind. Loki and Thor fought off the agents while Captain's mission was to return Kiera to the jet. Hawkeye covered their exit and Sharon had his back as Steve carried the unconscious Kiera back on board. The jet went off without the Asgardians, who joined them later.

"How does she?" Thor asked, hovering over his sleeping niece.

"Well I expect her to be sleeping for a while, not as long as a week though. Loki spoke as stood in place, exhausted. "You remember how it went last time, brother."

"Ah yes," Thor twisted his arm to see the mark on his bicep. "That's how we got the star!"

"Thank you, Hawkeye, for getting her back."

Clint felt relieved and got off his chair, walking over to Loki.

"No biggy, magic hands. Told you we'd get her back." Clint had expected his hand to solidly land on Loki's shoulder, but to his surprise, it went through his form and the god of lies disappeared.

"Not again."

Down in the bunker, Loki smiled wicked as his eyes glimmered blue.
