17.Daughter of Mischief

Steve and Bruce borrowed a quinjet down to the hospital in Washington, during which Steve and Bruce exchanged life stories. The plane landed on a S.H.I.E.L.D property and a car took them to the hospital. Steve got a call from Lindsay on the way, and he told her that Kiera would be staying with some relatives for a while.

They arrived at the hospital and Steve paced to Kiera's room, eager to see his sister awake, leaving Banner to catch up. He found her up and awake, chatting away with a blonde haired woman.

"Hey baby girl!" Steve announced from the door, catching their attention as he walked to her bedside.

"You and I need to talk, mister!" Kiera pointed as he kissed her head.

"Yes, very much, I promise. How you doing?"

"Tired but I'll be okay."

"Ah, I guess I'll leave you to it then," the blonde interrupted

"Oh, I'm sorry. Thank you, for watching Kiera for me. It means a lot."

"It was no problem. She's a strong kid."

"That she is."

"Hey Steve, guess what her name is!"

"Kate." Steve replied with the name he'd spoken to on the phone.

"Nope."

"No?" Steve raised an inquisitive brow at "not Kate".

"Her name's Sharon. As in Sharon Carter," Kiera introduced.

Steve made an impressed head tilt in recognition.

"I'm gonna go sign you out, you guys catch up."

"Thanks," Steve repeated.

As soon as Sharon left, Kiera punched Steve's arm.

"Hey, what the fuck!"

"Language!"

"Language?! You're working for them!"

"Hey, I'm sorry okay. Look, I'm only with them if my conditions are met. The second they turn, I'm gone. They can't touch you or involve you in anything without your consent."

"Fine, I guess. What do they have you doing?"

"So far, tracking the tesseract. I get to work with a team of supers, among which is Ironman."

Kiera instantly sat up in bed, spiking her adrenaline charts.

"You're working with Tony Stark!? I'm in, let's go!"

"Hang on a sec. Also part of my team, is a jolly blonde giant. Down to the star."

"Oh wow. OH WOW! Oh my God! He's real?! He's actually real? And he's here?!"

"Hey hey! Calm down. Yeah, he's here; and dying to meet you."

"If he's real, then..."

"Your dad, yeah he's here too. But we need to talk about what's going on with him." Steve rose to leave. "We'll do that at base. Get dressed."

Steve left as a nurse came in to help Kiera get ready. Outside, he bumped into Sharon filling out the discharge papers

"Um, I think these need your signature." Sharon offered him the papers.

"Oh, yeah. Of course." Steve took the clipboard from her, and they took an awkward pause as he signed the documents.

"So, Carter huh?"

"That would be me, yup."

"Peggy...?

"My great aunt."

"Nice. How, how is she?"

"As fine as the elderly can be, I suppose. The old age is getting to her."

"You two ever talk about-"

"You? Often, when she can remember. She's getting Alzheimer's. I was the one to tell her about you. Fitting, as I grew up with her telling me stories about you."

"How'd she take it?" Steve asked, defensively crossing his arms, not confident to hear the news.

"I'm ready! Let's go!" Kiera came out ready, interrupting their conversation.

"Great, car's this way." Steve lead, picking up Bruce from the front desk.

"Oh by the way Kiera, Dr Bruce Banner, Dr. Banner, Kiera."

"Holy sh...mokes! The Hulk?!"

"Kiera..." Steve warned.

"Super cool to meet you, doctor."

"Nice to meet you too."

"So doc, what's your secret, keeping cool? I blew my fuse and wound up comatose."

"Oh wouldn't you like to know." Bruce smiled.

"Well, actually. Considering I'm walking out of a hospital..."

"Kiera, leave him alone! He's only here to help locate the device."

"Maybe another time, kiddo."

In the car, Sharon sat front passenger and the other three shuffled in the back. Kiera slept on Steve's shoulder, a temporary side effect from coming off the drugs, but Steve assured her she would wanna be awake for their next ride.

As promised, Kiera's jaw dropped when the quinjet came out of camouflage. Steve had to knock her out of her stupor to get her moving again. A new flight crew was on board to take them back to the helicarrier, and all the way Kiera kept asking about every button and device she could recognize.

Once on the helicarrier, Agent Carter got them past the security carded doors. The flight crew went away on their own accord in no remarkable fashion, so no one bothered to worry about them.

The control room was doored with a frosted window pane, and Kiera was quick to catch sight of Tony Stark. She immediately stopped at the door, startling her company.

"Quick! How do I look?" Kiera frantically asked, fixing her hair behind her ears.

"Like you just got out of the hospital?"

Kiera pushed his chest.

"You didn't find it worth mentioning that Tony Stark was ACTUALLY going to be here?"

Bruce and Sharon smiled at her fangirling.

"Care, Tony isn't the biggest thing in there you should be-"

"My ass! Sharon?" Kiera pouted and Sharon got the memo.

"I gotchya!" She dug around her purse for some touch up products and offered them to her.

"Thanks Carter. You're a life saver!" Kiera exaggerated as she put on her make up.

"That is why I joined S.H.I.E.L.D." Sharon played.

Steve crossed his hands in amused impatience as they waited for Kiera to get ready.

"What? Like you weren't a fan of Howard?" Sharon poked at him.

"He did promise flying cars."

"Well, his son just did flying super suits. Let her have her moment." Sharon definitely acquired persuasive skills from her aunt.

Steve gave up and the three waited for Kiera to finally go in.

Bruce went in first, followed by Kiera and then the other two.

"We're back!" Banner announced, drawing attention to them.

"Good to see you up, kid." Natasha nodded to her.

"Uhun, thanks." Kiera quickly replied back, following Bruce to where Ironman was.

"Um, Hi! I'm Tony Stark, you're my biggest fan!" Kiera diced as she extended a hand to him. "Wait, shit."

"I'm gonna guess, I may be wrong, but you got that mixed."

"Yeah foh shuh I'm..."

"This is Kiera. She's a big fan of yours." Steve translated for her.

"I'm a big fan of me too. Where do I sign?"

"Everywhere!" Kiera blurted.

"Let's save that for later. Anyone seen Thor?"

On cue, thunder rolled outside and Kiera's eyes lit up in recognition.

"Speak of the devil." Nat smirked.

"Oh my God, it's real!" Kiera freaked.

"You might wanna..." Fury warned.

"Shut up!" Kiera interrupted and ran for the terrace, arriving just as the god of thunder strolled past the sliding doors.

Thor's eyes grew ten fold as he saw his sister in law's reincarnation before him.

"Eir-" Thor didn't get to finish as his niece pounced on him with a frenzied hug, which her uncle returned with equal enthusiasm.

"Oh my God oh my God oh my GOD!!!" Kiera sobbed, not letting him go. "You're real. You're not just a dream! And you're here!"

"Of course I'm here, elska." Thor replied and peeled her off to finally look at her.

"I am so sorry I failed you, my princess! You must believe I scourged all the nine realms looking for you. And I have found you now, and shan't loose you again." He hugged her again and pulled away again.

"By Odin do you look like your mother, may she rest in peace. Loki will surely regain his senses when he sees you."

"Loki?"

"Your father. I shall tell him of you instantly!"

"No!" The Dawsons echoed.

"No, we have to do it very carefully, or he might not believe us."

"Ms. Rogers is right." Coulson intervened. "We can't expose her right away, or he'll think we're setting him up."

"Forgive me. I am overwhelmed by my emotions. I shall let you decide your proceeding."

Kiera consoled him with a kiss on his cheek.

"Oh believe me, uncle. I am just dying to meet my father, but we gotta do it right."

Thor kissed her head and Kiera went to Steve and the two followed Fury to the holding. The director didn't bother interrupting as the siblings behind him hashed out the plan.

Fury was to go in alone first and fail to get anywhere with Loki, segueing to Kiera's entrance. The actual event transpired very similarly, and Fury came back out frustrated with Loki's lack of cooperation. Kiera waited a while and Steve pepped her up before she went in to meet her father.

Kiera avoiding contacting him directly, rather choosing to play the part of the outsider.

"There's not many people who can sneak up on me." Loki spoke into the seemingly empty room, unable to catch sight of his daughter anywhere.

"Well shush, huh? They don't know about me either."

"Oh? A spy amongst spies?"

"Sure. I just need one way to bring them crashing to the ground."

Loki scoffed.

"Vengeance, is it?"

"Of course! They killed my mother, they need to pay. Their lives for hers." The voice was close now, as if right behind him.

Whatever Loki was about to say got stuck in his throat as he recognized her vow. It was similar to one he had made for his baby girl, word for word. His eyes glowed colors and he shook his head clear.

"Oh, I like how you thi-" Loki stopped mid sentence as he finally turned to see her, blown away by the girl's resemblance to his wife.

"W-who are you?" he gulped.

"Lindsay Dawson. So, what's your deal? They take something from you?" Kiera asked, stalking around the place as if she were actually a spy.

"I assure you I will have it return to me. The how isn't of importance."

"I hear you're planning on the Hulk."

"We're kindred spirits, him and I. It doesn't take much effort to make us... snap!"

"Really?" Kiera snapped up, facing him with crossed arms. "So what makes the God of Mischief snap?"

Loki chuckled, turning away from her.

"It would be beyond the abilities of a mere human child."

"You sure?" Kiera questioned with a tease, knowing she was getting to him.

"Certain." Loki replied without daring to look back.

"How sure?"

"Well as sure as the-" Loki caught himself, recognizing the statement he used to say a long time ago, to his daughter.

"As the stars above?" Kiera asked, her voice shaky and unsure.

"Enough!" Loki turned and slammed his arm on the glass, threatening behind wet eyes, startling Kiera.

Steve would have barged in had he been monitoring, but he was out sneaking around the ship, finding out Fury's secret after Stark planted doubt in his mind.

"What are you?" Loki gritted, resting his forehead against his arm.

"Well, I think, you're my father." Kiera answered, walking up the aisle.

"You can't possibly be..."

"Kiera?"

"Eira. Sigyn named her..."

"After the goddess of snow. Y'know, the cold never bothered me. And, you and I have the exact same hair color. I have my mother's eyes and her facial structure, from what I can remember. Oh, and then there's this."

Kiera stopped and took a big breath before she forced herself to put on her Jotun skin as Loki watched in amazement.

"Eira?" his voice was barely audible, but it snapped Kiera's focus, making her shift back and she rushed up to the cell, placing her own, relatively smaller hands across from his.

"Daddy?" she choked out as tears fell on her lips.

Loki wanted to move all the realms to be on the other side of the glass, where his baby girl was, to hold her in a hug so tight Thor couldn't pull them apart. But he held in the urge to break the glass, because it would have been futile, and may possibly make his daughter lose all trust in him.

"Hi, my elska," he whispered, curling his fingers against the glass, imagining her fingers twined with his.

"Hi daddy!"
