Ch. 6
What do you do? What do you do when your employer is cheating on their significant other? I've lost my damn appetite at this point. I'm so sick, it makes me want to cry. What did Namjoon do to deserve this? He would give Jiwon the word; all she would have to do is say so. I look at the pictures again in my phone, trying to convince myself that these aren't real. I'm trying to convince myself that an amazing person like Kim Namjoon is not getting his heart stepped on. I'm trying, and I'm failing.
"Fuck this shit." I throw my hood on and get out of my car.
I walk up to the restaurant with my head down, as to not be seen by Jiwon. She didn't even look at when we were at her home, so she has no idea what I'm wearing, thankfully. All I need to do is keep my head down so she doesn't see my face. When stepping into the building, there's a sign standing that informs customers to sit anywhere they'd like. I carefully scan the place and spot the two. They're in a booth, with an open one behind them.
This is just too good to be true as I walk up to the booth and take my place, my back facing Jiwon and hers facing mine. She's too wrapped in her conversation to look at me and I'm relieved. I breathe a sigh of said relief as I listen in to the conversation they're having. I turn on the voice recorder on my phone and hope that it picks up their voices.
"He had the nerve to call me a bad fucking mother. Can you believe that?" She complains.
"I can't." The man replies. "He's so unappreciative of you. Baby, when are you going to leave him?"
The waiter comes over to me and I quickly ask him for water so that I'm not missing anything being said.
I hear Jiwon sigh before she continues. "I'm going to. I just want to make sure that I'll be getting a cut of half the assets. I want to bring something of my own to the relationship."
"You know I'll take care of you, Ji. You don't need to bring anything. I want this to happen soon. I can't fathom the thought of him still touching you."
I roll my eyes at this asshole. You're sleeping with a married woman, knowing that she's married. You sleazy bastard.
"We haven't slept together in like 3 months or something like that." She says so nonchalantly.
"I guess that means that you are carrying my baby, huh?"
I choke on the water that the waiter brought me, trying to catch myself before it messes up any audio.
"Yes, Theo. This baby is yours. I'm going to leave him before he finds out. And we can start our lives finally."
"Finally after 4 long years, almost 5. When you got pregnant with your son, it broke my heart. We were supposed to have our family."
"Theo," Jiwon starts. "Jae-sun might be yours."
I can't do it anymore. I grab my phone and quickly bolt out of the restaurant. I'm fuming. Jiwon has not only been cheating on Namjoon for years, but now Jae might not be his son? What kind of sinister person is Jiwon? How could she do this? Now, I have all this evidence against her and I have no idea what I want to do. I have to tell Namjoon about this. I need to tell Namjoon. But this is not my place. It's Jiwon's. And she needs to tell him sooner rather than later.
I take a deep breathe as I'm in my car, still not able to control my thoughts and feelings. It isn't until I stop thinking to myself that I realize I'm back in front of the Kim's home. "Dammit."
I'm not going to tell Namjoon yet. No, I want to see if Jiwon will tell him. She's got a week, and if she says nothing, then I'm telling him myself. Namjoon will be so devastated, but he's got to know before his heart gets broken even more. I spot Jiwon's car making its way into the driveway, and all I can do is scowl. She makes me fucking sick.
Looking around, her eyes widen when she sees me sitting in my car. She makes her way over to my car and opens the passenger door, sitting inside. I look at her like she's crazy as she stares ahead and exhales. "Drive."
"Excuse me?" I say, coming out sounding angry.
"Drive, Harlow. We need to talk." She replies, still not looking at me.
Rolling my eyes, I pull off. The ride is silent until I pull up to a nearby park. I turn off my car and turn to face her. Irritation and anger fill my voice. "What."
She exhales once more before she opens her mouth to speak. "I saw you leaving the restaurant."
"Oh, did you?" I say, crossing my arms.
She nods. "I did. So what do you know?"
I laugh humorlessly. "I know more than what you think I do. Jiwon, what is your problem? How can you do this to your family?"
"That isn't what I asked you." Jiwon finally looks at me. "What do you know?"
I narrow my gaze at her, giving in. "You've been having an affair with this Theo man for going on 5 years, you're currently pregnant with this man's child, and sweet Jae might be his and not Namjoon's. Not to mention you wanna milk Namjoon for everything he has. Did I miss anything?" Jiwon's eyes hold fear, guilt, humiliation, irritation, and anger. She's got some nerve. "You need to tell Namjoon right now. You need to end this by telling him and going on with your new life or whatever you're going to do."
"I will do that when I'm good and ready. And you won't tell him."
"I won't?" I cock my head to the side, loving the annoyed reaction on Jiwon's face at my sarcasm.
"If you love your job and my kids, you won't say shit."
I nod, pulling out my phone and scrolling through the pictures I took of the two together. Her face holds fear now as she sees herself. I also play some of the audio I have. She picked the right one with me.
"I love my job and your kids more than anything. But what you will not do is try getting rid of me when I'm there more than you are with your own children."
"You bit-"
"What are you gonna do, hm? Still wanna fire me when I have all this shit against you? Oh, not likely." I slide my phone into my pocket and unlock my car doors. "You have a week, or I'm telling him myself. Get your shit together, Jiwon. You're losing a good man. Now get out of my car."
Jiwon wastes no time getting out of my car and I pull off without looking twice. I'm not about to play around with her. She's stomping all over his heart and it aches for Namjoon.

Namjoon's POV
I notice Harlow's car parked across the street and I frown. Did she leave something? I check the guest room and see there's none of her belongings here. I shrug, walking back into the living room and pondering on why she came back. Jiwon pulls up and I sigh, not in the mood to deal with her if she won't hear me out.
When she gets out of the car, she looks to Harlow's car and heads that way. She gets in her car and not a moment later, Harlow's driving away. I'm left confused. Jiwon is never interested in Harlow any other time, so why now?
I find myself sitting on the couch, many questions in my head but none having an answer. The main question I have is what's going on? As I try thinking of the possible reasons as to why Jiwon would be going anywhere with Harlow, she comes in. I stand and go to meet my wife at the door. As I look at her, I frown. She's been visibly crying. I pull her into my chest as she starts sobbing.
"Ji, what's wrong? What happened?" I ask, worried as I rub her head.
"I-It's Harlow." She says into my chest.
My heart about drops at the mention of her name. "Is she okay? What happened to her?"
Jiwon looks up at me through wet eyes as she takes a deep breath. "She quit, Namjoon."
"She did what?" My eyes widen. No, this can't be right. "Are you sure? She would've told me."
"She did. She wanted to talk to me and she said that she got another job. She was afraid to tell you because she didn't want to upset you or the kids. Honey, they love her and now she just ups and leaves without telling you or them."
I shake my head. This is kind of hard to believe. She just told me she'd back in a couple days for her scheduled day with the kids. And now all of a sudden she's got another job? Harlow is more than a nanny. She's my friend, and I'm positive that she would let me know about that.
"Namjoon, how are we going to tell the kids?" Jiwon looks to me again.
I sigh, shaking my head again. "I'll figure that out. Just- don't worry about it. I'm going to call her and talk to her myself."
"She doesn't want anymore contact."
"Jiwon, seriously. What is going on?" I question. "That isn't like Harlow at all. I know her, and she'd say something to me first."
Jiwon steps back and crosses her arms, sniffling. "So you don't believe your own wife?"
"We're not getting into this right now. I'm going call her."
I pull my phone from my pocket and dial up her number. It rings a few times until it reaches the voicemail. I sigh, waiting for the beep before speaking. "Hey Harlow, it's Namjoon. Give me a call if you get this message, we gotta talk about something."
I end the call and look up at my wife, who just shrugs. "Not even an answer. And she always answers."
I still find this hard to believe. I walk more into the house, checking on the kids who are still fast asleep. They must've been up late last night with Harlow. She loves my children and she has enough respect for me to at least tell me something as big as having another job. I'm going to figure it out.
