It's been a long time since Jimin and Jungkook last met up this way. They were in Jungkook's bedroom with the latter laying sprawled across the bed, while Jimin sat criss-cross applesauce on the floor. They were quiet.

Tensions between the old friends have risen high ever since Jungkook supported Taehyung over his best friend when the couple were having relationship issues. Jimin felt that the younger male wasn't a reliable friend, while Jungkook couldn't bear to watch Jimin betray the man of his long-term, one-sided crush.

Jungkook mindlessly scrolled through his phone, while Jimin fiddled with his fingers. Jimin was clearly there to discuss some things, but he doesn't know where to start. It's weird to come out and say, 'Let's be best friends again since I'm no longer screwing a man that's not Taehyung.' But that's pretty much what he will do.

"I think we should talk." Jimin started, finally earning the acknowledgement of the younger friend.

"Finally," Jungkook barely chuckled under his breath. "I was wondering when you were going to speak up. I was starting to get uncomfortable with you intensely staring at me and twiddling your thumbs." Jungkook sat up in the bed and gave Jimin his undivided attention.

Jimin glared. "Don't be a dick, or I'll find a way to make it more awkward." The brunette only outwardly laughed at the open-ended threat.

"Okay," Jimin breathed. "I hate fighting with you and not talking to you. You're my best friend, Kook, and I hate to think that we're being driven apart."

Jungkook seemed to be thinking as he chewed on the inside of his cheek. It was a bad habit that he's not been able to kick.

Jimin continued, his apology turning into a ramble. "I'm sorry for how I was acting before. You were right. What I was doing before was wrong and stupid, and I should have never cheated on Tae. I should have been straight forward and ended things, or I should have tried harder to patch things up between us, not wait so long to do so."

The younger's eyes twitched at Jimin's confession. Jimin wasn't the type of person to admit when he's done something wrong, but that wasn't the only thing raising a red flag in his mind. Jimin had said, 'not wait so long to do,' so did that mean...

"Wait, are you and Taehyung doing better?" Jungkook tried to not act so anxious, but he couldn't contain his reaction. He's hoping that it comes off more excited than worried.

Jimin smiled, biting his lip, and nodded. "I ended everything with Yoongi." He won't tell the younger that it was Yoongi's decision that ended it between them. That was unnecessary information. "Taehyung and I... reconnected, if you know what I mean." The blonde giggled.

He knew exactly what Jimin was implying, and his heart felt like it was going to drop to the floor and shatter at the thought. "I'm so glad to hear that, Jimin." It took everything in him to swallow the lump in his throat and slap a smile across his face. It wasn't the best grin he could offer, while only being a slight tug upwards from his lips, but at least it portrayed the feeling of happiness.

It seemed to work on Jimin though, because his face radiated with pride, causing his cheeks to squish and his eyes to form into the prettiest crescent moons. He wore this smile only when he was genuinely happy. Jungkook accepted the embrace Jimin threw at him, allowing Jimin to squeeze him obnoxiously hard, pressing his cheek against the top of his head.

The rest of their visit, Jungkook did his best to avoid the topic of Taehyung. Though, that was proving to be hard since Jimin was too animated by their rekindled relationship. During those conversations, Jungkook nodded his head along with the blonde male, but didn't contribute as much.

When Jimin finally left, presumably to meet Taehyung back at their apartment, Jungkook felt a rush of relief wash over him... and something else. Something that left a bitter taste on the tip of his tongue. Jealousy.

Not only that, he still wasn't satisfied to know that Jimin had only ended his affair with his step-father. Taehyung was still being left completely in the dark, and Jungkook had to do something about it.

"I have to tell him." He whispered. And he was going to tell him for real this time, no interruptions.

----------

It was the next morning and Jungkook woke up with a lot more confidence than when he had decided to meet up with Taehyung the last time. He had determination today. He was going to make Taehyung listen to him.

Jungkook leaped out of bed and hurried through his morning routine. He slipped on a pair of joggers, a white t-shirt, and an oversized windbreaker over that. He even accessorized with a pair of Timberland boots and his favorite bucket hat. He wanted to look nice but still casual. He grabbed a granola bar on his way out the door, too jittery to eat a real breakfast. The boy was shaking.

Or maybe it was nerves.

As soon as he stood in front of The Kim's Group company building, all of the confidence he had built up plummeted into the pit of his stomach, making it churn. He held his stomach as the nerves were starting to eat away at him. Thank goodness he had only had a granola bar.

He decided to bombard Taehyung while he was at work, rather than try and meet up with him. Last time, work distracted the older male, so why not find him in his normall habitat.

Jungkook walked through the glass revolving door, and immediately felt out of place inside The Kim's Group with his casual attire. Business men and women walked in and out of the office building dressed in full fancy suits. They all seemed to be carrying briefcases or were on the phone, too occupied and clearly in a hurry to run their errands to even acknowledge Jungkook's presence. This was surely the normal life for busy, important people.

He gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing, before he approached the secretary desk beside the lobby. The woman was typing away on her computer, barely registering that there was someone standing in front of her. She finally glanced in Jungkook's direction. "Can I help you?"

"Uh... y-yes, Jungkook stuttered, "I'm looking for Kim Taehyung. I need to speak with him."

The woman briefly looked him over with dead eyes. "Name please and time of appointment?"

"I actually... uh... don't have an appointment with him. I'm a close friend."

The woman was clearly indifferent. "If you don't have an appointment, then I can't let you-"

"Jungkook?" Taehyung showed up before the secretary even had a chance to finish her sentence, one that she was probably trained to say. "Don't worry Ayeong, he's with me." Ayeong and Jungkook both turned to see the man. She looked flustered and nodded. He looked incredibly handsome, like a young heir, in his gray suit, loosened tie, and slicked back hair, so when the business man walked over and wrapped his arm over Jungkook's shoulder to lead him away, Jungkook gulped.

Jungkook tried to keep his composure at the man's touch and the way he said, 'he's with me.' He knew Taehyung hadn't meant it in that way, but the words still made him shiver.

"We keep the lobby fairly chilly," Taehyung said when he noticed. "My office is warmer." He rubbed Jungkook's upper arm a couple of times before guiding them into the elevator.

When they made it into Taehyung's office, Jungkook was in awe at the sophistication of the room. It wasn't the sort of office Jungkook would have in mind for Taehyung. There were large bookshelves on either side of the room, covering the walls, filled with binders and books that probably pertained to the business. The back wall was entirely floor to ceiling windows that gave an excellent view of city towers. His desk was large and professional, made out of a classy cherry wood. He had a seating area in front of it with leather couches, probably necessary for meetings or when people came to visit.

Taehyung was a light-hearted man, someone who never took life too seriously. The man Jungkook knew was a jokester, someone who laughed through every situation. It wasn't even two years ago when Taehyung's bedroom was covered in posters of his favorite anime characters, his bookshelves filled with his manga collection, and decorated in photos he had taken of him with Jimin and Jungkook.

This is not the office he had envisioned. There weren't even photos accessorising his desk. There was nothing personal about this room, but maybe Taehyung preferred to keep work and his private life separate. That must be it.

Taehyung ushered for Jungkook to sit on one of the unbearably uncomfortable, fancy couches, while he sat across from him. "You actually came at a perfect time. I just finished a meeting, but what brings you to see me here today? You could have called." Taehyung looked confused.

Jungkook played with his fingers. The nerves were at a new level now that he was seated across from the man inside his work space, but this had to be done. He cleared his throat. "I never was able to finish what I needed to say the last time we met in the coffee shop."

"Ah, right. I got a call from the office as soon as you were going to tell me something." He remembers. "What was it?" Taehyung raised an eyebrow in curiosity and leaned forward, his elbows rested on his knees and his masculine hands locked together.

"Right... um," Jungkook tried to remain focused. "What I am about to tell you may come as a surprise, and just know, that I am telling you because I care about you. I don't want you hurt..."

Taehyung's brows creased and he tilted his head to the side. He appeared more intimidating than ever, but Jungkook continued. He was going to rip the bandage off and blurt it out. He's come this far. Jungkook closed his eyes. He couldn't bear to see the hurt in the man's face.

"Jimin has been cheating on you."

When the room remained silent, Jungkook slowly peeked his eyes open to see Taehyung's reaction. The heir just stared at him with no change in his facial expression, like he was waiting for Jungkook to say more.

"He told me," Jungkook explained, "That's how I know. It was going on for a while, and I just felt like you should know." The younger's voice shook. He hated to be the one to break the news to Taehyung and to cause him pain, but he also knew that Jimin would never spill the truth that he rightfully should know.

Taehyung shifted in his seat, causing the leather cushions to squeak, which echoed in the tense atmosphere. He looked down with creased eyebrows, probably contemplating what to say after the shocker that was just unveiled. He puckered his bottom lip out in thought.

"I am so sorry that I'm the one to tell-"

"I already know." Taehyung looked up, his eyes meeting Jungkook's in a glare.

Jungkook's doe eyes widened. He had prepared himself for every possible reaction he had thought, but this was completely unexpected. Had he just heard correctly? "You w-what?"

"I am aware of Jimin's affair with... Min Yoongi, is it?" Taehyung leaned back on the couch comfortably.

He even knew that it was with Ms. Park's husband. How was this possible? Did Jimin tell him? Jungkook couldn't even manage to speak. All of the questions swirling through his head were stuck in his throat from shock.

"I've known for a while," Taehyung admits. "There's been an obvious shift in our relationship, and Jimin's never been exactly subtle." He chuckled menacingly under his breath, rubbing his chin. "But I have my sources."

"If you knew, then why have you stayed with him?" Jungkook had to ask.

Taehyung grinned, but it was crooked. "Because... it's simple. I'm Kim Taehyung, and he's Park Jimin."

Jungkook was the one to furrow his eyebrows now. He stood from his seat, not believing his ears or the man in front of him. "So what?"

"You know," he sighed. "I've learned a lot from my position here at The Kim's Group. Some things are bigger than love in this world. Park Jimin is a prize that was promised to me many years ago, a prize that unlocks many advantages for my company, and I'll be damned to not have it. Besides, from what's happened over the past couple of days, it looks as though Jimin has promised himself back to me." He smirked.

Jeon Jungkook would have never thought he'd see Kim Taehyung as a villain. But as Taehyung lounges back on the black couch looking as smug as ever, that's exactly what he is. He always thought that Jimin was the toxic one, but that doesn't seem to be the real case.

"So if Jimin wants to end it with you, what happens then?" Jungkook puffed his chest in defense for his friend.

Taehyung shifted, almost uncomfortably, at those words. "This was never supposed to get out. I let Jimin have his fun, knowing it wouldn't last. But I never thought Jimin would be stupid, or honest, enough to admit his unfaithfulness to anyone, but that's what has seemed to have happened." He spoke at Jungkook pointedly. "You need to keep your mouth shut. No one can know about this. It will blow up on the media and ruin everything. We won't appear authentic."

"You're not authentic! You can't hold Jimin hostage!" Jungkook shouted. "He's clearly been unhappy, and guilt is the only thing driving him back to you. I always thought you were a good guy. I defended you!" Tears pricked in his vision.

The heir flashed a forbidding smile. "Love makes us do foolish things." That remark was for Jungkook. "Like my love for success. You won't be able to tell anyone without ruining Jimin too, so I'm not afraid of you. And don't worry...

"The next step is already in place."
