Jungkook walked back home. He didn't cry, he didn't smile. There was nothing left for him, no emotions he even wanted to feel. All he could think of was his son, he really needed to wrap his arms around the child right now. His soft giggles, the little kisses on his cheeks and the way his eyes lightened up while talking.
The feeling of longing to hold his baby, it grew with every step he took towards his apartment. Pushing away the painful thought of losing Taehyung and Lyza, on the same day.
He couldn't blame them. He fucked up, no one else did.
The rain stopped by now, the sun coming back from being hidden behind clouds, drowning the soaked wet streets in sparkling, almost shining roads. Jungkook's eyes glanced around, hands stuffed deeply into his pockets and for the first time in forever, he felt free.
Who would tell him now what to do? Where to go?
Well, Taejeon. Because everything always had to go his ways, but besides from the little one, there was nothing left for Jungkook.
Failed college, no relationship, no friends.
Maybe-, just maybe a fresh start would be all he needed? They all did.
He wasn't the only one who walked out of his with a broken heart. They all did. And along the way they pulled people like Taejeon and Jimin within their sadness, causing their lifes to turn problematic without them doing anything wrong.
The door opened before he even grabbed his keys. Lyza stood there, wearing sweatpants and an oversized shirt, hair in a bun and no make up on her face. The boy let out a sigh when he once again realised how beautiful she was, now more than ever after she literally went out of her way to save them.
Just that some things are too broken to be saved, just like Jungkook and Taehyung.
"Taejeon is waiting for you", she said quietly, not questioning what happened. Actually, she didn't want to know what went down with Taehyung. It was none of her business anymore. Jungkook nodded and passed by her, heading towards the living room.
The kid sat on the floor, he had his bags packed and his favorite plushie close to his chest. Well, his bags weren't really packed since he only stuffed them with candy and plushies. But, at least he tried. "Daddy", Taejeon smiled. "Where's Taehyungie?"
Jungkook smiled sadly, holding back tears as he sat down on the floor and pulled the kid into his arms. "Gone", he whispered. Taejeon gulped, nodded and then wrapped his hands around his Dad's neck, giving him a kiss on his nose. "But Taejeon is still there", he smiled, trying his hardest to cheer his father up.
"That's the most important thing to me", Jungkook replied, ruffling the boy's hair.
"And Taejeon will always stay with Daddy", the little boy explained firmly, looking into his father's eyes. "If I get a frog."
"You'll get whatever you want", Jungkook hummed.
"Okay, big car. A horse. Two frogs. Mickey the fish. Two swimming pools and two bitches."
Lyza as well as Jungkook were a little shocked at what their son said, but they didn't question it further. "Where will you take him?", Lyza asked quietly. "I think he'll stay with you, right?"
"If that's alright for you", Kook shrugged, feeling so small and dumb.
"I think you rather need someone to take care of you than I do. And Taejeon is quite good at that, he's a good boy", Lyza hummed. "Where will you go?"
"I don't know yet", Jungkook shrugged. "Somewhere far away from here. There's nothing holding me back anymore."
Lyza smiled, "Great. We'll keep in touch. I want to at least get to see my son on holidays, maybe we can still celebrate christmas together. It'd be easier for him if he wouldn't have to choose where to spend those days-"
Jungkook nodded, "Yeah", he sighed.
It could've been so easy.
"Thanks, Lyza. For everything", Jungkook mumbled after a while. "Nothing to thank for." The girl turned away and then brought Taejeon's correctly packed bags. "I want him to facetime me at least three times a week. I want to see him grow up."
"Mom!", Taejeon squeaked. "Don't be clingy. I call when I want."
Lyza scoffed annoyed, crossing her arms. "Fine, Mister all-grown-up."
Jungkook chuckled, "I'll take care of him", he promised softly.
"Take care of you too, yeah? Forget about Taehyung." Lyza ruffled Jungkook's hair, "And stop the cutting. You've gotta be a single father now, that's a big responsibility."
The boy nodded bluntly,"I'll try my best, I promise."
"Ugh, Jungkook", Lyza wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. "You look so sad-"
"I am sad", Jungkook shrugged. "But it's gonna get better."
"Please, forget about the whole last year. Just, move on. Find a pretty boy, live a happy life. None of our past is worth dwelling over it", she hummed. Jungkook pulled back, gave her an awkward smile and then turned away. "I'll get going. It's late and I wasted already 6 years of your time", he said as he grabbed the kid's bags and his own which Lyza had also packed already.
Taejeon said goodbye to his Mommy, promised to call when he's in bed tonight and then ran to his Dad, intertwining his tiny hand with the older's and looked up to Jungkook.
"Are we going on an adventure?", Taejeon asked with big doey eyes, looking cuter as ever.
"Better." Jungkook winked.
"What is better?"
"We're going to live a little."

"You did what"
"I ended it."
"You did what", Jimin's voice got louder as he literally smacked Taehyung's head. "You're the dumbest fucking idiot on earth. Dude! I! spent! all my past month trying to cheer you up while you kept saying all you want is Jungkook!!!"
"I-", Taehyung started but Jimin raised his hand. "No, shut the fuck up. Stop being such a dramatic bitch. Tell me one reason why the fuck y'all can't try again?"
"I deserve better than being second choice", Taehyung gulped, "And he said yes-"
"That's your only argument?"
"Well, he put me through a lot of pain", Taehyung said awkwardly.
"Oh and you didn't? Weren't you the one who slept with Lyza? Sorry, but that's a whole other level of being an asshole", Jimin snapped, ruffling his hair in despair. "God, you'll regret this."
"Since when are you defending him?"
"I'm not defending anyone in this. That's all so fucked up, man. But you're not in any position to act like a fucking saint. You're not the one who almost died with 8, got a son with 15 and fell for his best friend along the way. You simply fell for a boy with complicated circumstances and as far as I know this boy has a hard time dealing with shit. Remember who you're in love with. You wanted him with all the bad circumstances yet you deny him when he's finally able to be free?"
"J-Jimin-"
"No, shut up. I'm so fucking done with all of you! I sacrificed my relationship. I've been there all the time, I took my time for the poor kid. And for what? For your dumbass to ruin everything when things could finally be okay!"
"I just don't wanna be a second choice!"
Taehyung got angry, balling his fists as he felt tears coming up. He fucked up again.
"As far as I know you've been the first one he ran to after he got told No at his own fucking wedding. As far as I know, there was a whole church being okay with a ruined wedding because we all knew who's the one Jungkook would choose if there wouldn't be certain circumstances."
Taehyung let out a sigh, turning away as he rushed into his bedroom, slamming the door shut. He didn't want to hear any of this. His head was hurting like shit, thoughts going crazy because suddenly he felt insecure about the whole thing.
What if he just did the greatest mistake of his life?
Jimin sat down in front of the older's bedroom door, leaning back. "Tae, listen."
The younger didn't say a word, but he was listening. With tears falling down his cheeks. "I'm sorry I lashed out like this", Jimin grumbled. "I just hate seeing this. As much as I hate Jungkook, he belongs to you. You'll regret letting him go now."
"What am I supposed to do?", Taehyung asked quietly. "The timing doesn't feel right to be together, there's so much to figure out."
"Y'all don't have to get married right away. Just don't walk away from something that still means so much."
Taehyung felt that, his heart aching thinking of Jungkook's smile and the way he tilted his head when he wanted to look cute. "Walking away was the hardest thing I've ever done."
"Maybe that's because you're not supposed to walk away. It wouldn't hurt if it didn't mean something, Tae."
The older let his head fall back, "I fucked up."
"You did. You could be laying in bed with him right now, hugging him and kissing him with no one judging you", Jimin sighed. "Was it worth it? Being a dramatic bitch just to prove a point? Dude, we're not in a movie. Things don't have to be logical. They don't have to make the audience cry, just get your shit together and take your boy as long as you still can!"
Taehyung nodded. "Yes", he said firmly, opening the door. "I'll go there right away!"
With that being said, Taehyung rushed out of his bedroom, grabbed his keys and just ran along the street.
His feet almost slipped over the still wet ground, but he couldn't care less. His mind was occupied by the thought of the possibility to hold Jungkook tonight, kiss him to sleep and shower him with so much affection that he'd never leave him again. Jimin was absolutely right, yet he didn't like to admit it but everything he wanted was what he just let go.
*
"Dad", Taejeon's lips formed a pout as he pulled on Taehyung's sleeves, sighing heavily. "Daddy bought white roses again. Third time this week! He's onto something", the boy rolled his eyes as Taehyung laughed and hugged him softly. "Ugh, I know right. I liked the red ones better-"
"Black ones", Taejeon corrected. "Black is the color of death and I am bad boy. I bring death when Daddy buys one more white rose. They are ugly!"
"Darling-, stop being mean. Your Dad just loves roses", Taehyung sighed and ruffled the boy's hair while he sliced a huge family pizza they just ordered. "He's a girl", Taejeon scrunched his nose disgusted. "He has to move out we are an all boys house."
"I'm pretty sure he's a boy-"
"No. Dad. Just because he has a dick doesn't mean he is man. Men are cool, Daddy is not."
Taehyung laughed out softly and pressed a kiss onto the now fourteen years old boy. "Stop it now", Taehyung chuckled. "Your Daddy is the most amazing man I've ever met." With that his eyes glanced towards the clock. He couldn't wait for the clock to strike 6pm when Jungkook would return from work.
"Can I remind you of how he embarrassed me on my last birthday? He said in front of all the sweet boys that I like the big bois, the itty bitty bois, Mississippi bois, in the city bois. I like the pretty bois with the bow ties, get your nails did let them air dry. I like a big beard, i like a clean face I don't discriminate-"
"Taejeon stop that dumb saying, your father didn't say that! He just said you like boys to tease you after you kissed this one boy there-, and he didn't say it in front of everyone." Taehyung grinned and then turned around to prepare a coffee for Jungkook, he loved his coffee in the evening even though Taehyung couldn't stand it himself to drink that shit.
"But everyone was there", Taejeon grumbled.
"In another room and they didn't listen", Taehyung winked.
As they were about to argue further, the door of their apartment unlocked and Jungkook walked in, the brightest smile on his lips. He was wearing a suit, eyes glowing in happiness when he spotted his little family arguing at the kitchen counter. "Hello there", he chuckled. Taejeon snapped his chin up, "Did you buy me chocolate?"
Jungkook nodded and presented Taejeon a big bag of sweets, "Of course", he winked and placed it on the kitchen counter, heading towards Taehyung immediately after. "Baby", Taehyung's eyes lightened up as he opened up his arms. Taejeon let out a groan, "It's so gay here." With that he walked away, grabbed the pizza and the sweets and sat down at the table.
Jungkook however walked straight into Taehyung's arms, wrapping his arms around the older's tummy and lifted his chin up to get his daily kiss which Taehyung gave him happily. "Welcome home, honey", he giggled, pressing their lips together all over again.
"I missed you", Jungkook pouted, reaching for more and more kisses. "I missed you too, Baby. How was work? Did your boss give you the promotion?"
Jungkook nodded proudly, "Yep. I was thinking of sending Taejeon to boarding school now that we're basically rich-"
Taejeon threw a slice of pizza. "You go to boarding school, bitch!"
"I was kidding", Jungkook laughed, glancing at his son.
"I'm proud of you", Taehyung hummed, softly pushing the boy out of the room. "Thought we're having dinner, man", Taejeon sighed.
"Exactly", Taehyung winked at Taejeon. With that the boy grabbed his phone and called his friends, crying for help because his parents were simply the worst.
Jungkook felt his tummy taking turns as Taehyung's strong arms lead him towards the bedroom, pushing the door open. "I'm really hungry though-", he hummed, sitting down on the bed as he automatically spread his legs.
"Yeah, same", Taehyung hoarsed, unzipping Jungkook's pants. "Just that I'm about to eat your ass while you'll still starve", he stucked his tongue out, pulled the boy's boxers down and let his hands wander along his inner thighs.
"Mhm", Jungkook's heart sunk as he felt Taehyung's mouth down there.
. . . . . . . .
*
"Fuck", Taehyung groaned out after he ran against a street lamp, caught up in his thoughts.
He reached the front door, pressed the doorbell several times, hoping for Jungkook to open up.
Instead, Lyza pulled the door open after a while, eyes going wide when she saw Taehyung standing there. "What the fuck are you doing here?", she literally yelled at him. "Taehyung what are you doing here now!!!"
"I fucked up Lyza, I didn't mean anything I said earlier, I need to talk to Kook!"
"No, oh god, oh Taehyung you fucking dumbshit", Lyza cried out and ruffled her hair, letting him in. Taehyung rushed in, heading towards the kitchen. The house was unusually silent, Taejeon's singing voice for once not audible, Jungkook's sweet scent nowhere to be smelled.
"Where..-"
Taehyung turned towards Lyza, throat going dry. "Where is he?"
"He left a few minutes ago", Lyza said quietly, feeling tears coming up when she saw Taehyung's face drop. "No", he said bluntly. "That can not be happening", he blurted out. "No, No. Where did he go? Where's Taejeon? He'll come back for the kid, right?-"
"Taejeon left with him, Tae."
"You do know where your son is, right? As a good mother you should know where your son went. So you do know where he is, right?"
Lyza shrugged, "No, I wanted to give him the space he needs."
"No", Taehyung felt like falling even though his feet were standing on the ground.
"I'm sorry, Tae", Lyza's eyes trailed down.
"No, that can't be happening this is not true. Jungkook and I are meant to be. No, oh god. Please tell me where he is-"
"I don't know Tae, I guess I gotta wait until he or my son reaches out to me." Lyza said awkwardly as she realised how dumb it was not to ask where he took their son.
Taehyung turned around, hands gripping on the counter. "He can't be that far, right?" His mind started spinning, trying to come up with a way where to find him.
"Tae, stop", Lyza put her hand on his shoulders.
"You're too late."
Taehyung shook his head immediately, "No, Lyza, No you don't fucking understand. I love him, I need him, I can't just let him go! I wasn't thinking when I let him go. He's everything to me! Oh god-"
Lyza sighed, "Has he blocked your number?"
Taehyung's eyes widened, "No-"
In the blink of an eye, Taehyung spinned around and grabbed his phone, pressing the number of his best friend with shaking fingers. As he put the phone up to his ear, his heart speeded up and his eyes met Lyza's. The girl sighed but prayed inside for Jungkook to pick up.
And there was hope, so much hope in their eyes.
Which shattered the second Jungkook's phone started ringing behind them, placed on the table in the living room, with a small note saying.
'If he calls someday, tell him I'm sorry I made him feel like a second choice, if things had been different I would've chosen him in a heartbeat the second I met him in first grade. Sadly things didn't work out for us but that's okay because in the end everything will be alright and so will we.'
Tears fell off Taehyung's eyes as he put the note down, facing Lyza sadly.
"Nothing's alright right now", Taehyung whispered.
But Lyza only smiled for a long time before she finally inhaled deeply, giving him an answer.
"Then it's not the end yet."
