Chapter 42
The thing about being happy is that it can all come crashing down in a moment. When I walked into school on Monday, I got the surprise of a lifetime. Everyone would stare at me, but that had become the new normal. However, when I finally saw the walls covered, I could feel my body wanting to shut down.
The room was spinning and I leaned on the wall, however, my strength felt as if it had been sucked out of me until I finally fell on the floor. Through the dizziness and what feels like the weight of the world, I can hear the faint sound of heels tapping on the marble floor. They stop in front of me, and pull the flier, examining it. "Hmmm, interesting," she says and looks at me with a twisted smile. I glare at her from my position and see as my friends have arrived, pulling at the flier posted everywhere. "You know, Amelia. You can walk the walk, talk the talk, and even act the act. But it's all just an act. Just because you have Grayson and his friends at the moment, but it won't last-" Sienna says.
However, Lynett crouches down and gives me the flier, and whispers with spite, "Because you're still nothing but a daddy killer." I looked up at her in hatred, wanting to slap her or scream but my body didn't want to move. They head back inside as my friends approach me.
Gina and Link squat down next to me and place a hand on my shoulder. "Are you okay?" Gina asks.
I'm fighting back the tears but hear myself say, "no. I'm not fucking okay."
"We're going to get these all removed," Grayson says as he lifts me up to my feet. I look at the flier and read it. It was my face and the small excerpt from my diary, I moved the steering wheel. I killed him. It looked like it was a confession. I wasn't sure who had done it, but I was seeing red and wanted to get even. At least with the two girls who mocked me for this. I pushed myself out of Grayson's grip and started walking into the cafeteria, they followed.
At the moment, I was feeling lucky that it was pie day. They were sitting in the center, laughing with the group of girls I used to sit with. They were laughing with the football players as others looked at them in jealousy. Why? I'm not sure, considering they were all fake. I grab two and walk up to them with a wide fake smile. The crowd that hid them opens up, afraid of me.
Sienna gives me a pitiful look as she says, "Amelia, we don't eat pie. You wouldn't know, but we try to watch our figure." Lynett stands next to her and nods her head in agreement.
I give them a nod in understanding and then give them a huge smile. "It's a good thing these aren't for eating," I say and plaster the containers on their perfectly make-up faces. I make sure to rub the pie all over until I feel their noses touch the tin bottom. I move my hands and the tin falls on the floor, revealing their sweet faces of horror and disgust. Their anger at me is noticeable as I just say, "oops."
"Food fight," I hear the voice yell and everything happens so fast as I see containers of food flying everywhere and in all directions. I try to run away, but someone pulls me down in their barricade. "Grayson," I yell at him.
He gives me a cheeky smile before grabbing a pudding cup and throwing it at my shirt. I glare at him and grab something close to me, a banana, and smoosh it on his face. We laugh at each other before getting hit with pies ourselves by Matt. The last person I expected to hit us, he laughs as Grayson and I share a look. Grayson quickly grabs his legs and brings him down while I grab some pubbing and juice. We drench Matt with a smile as he sits down, juice still flowing from him.
"That-" he says, "wasn't very nice."
"Gina watch out," Link says as he throws a pie at her face.
"Link, I am going to murder you," she responds and starts walking up to him. I can't help but laugh at the scene unfolding behind us. I see Lynett and Sienna have slipped and are now on the floor as others are still grasping for anything to throw at each other.
The door opens swiftly, and that's when everything stops. Mr. Webner stands there, to say he was furious would be an understatement.
"Those responsible, step up now," he yells. No one stands up but I see Sienna raise her hand. I roll my eyes, expecting the worst. And sure enough, she didn't disappoint.
"Amelia Lockheart started this Mr Webner," she says in her sickly sweet voice of persuasion.
Mr. Webner looks taken back a bit before I huff and step forward. I'm ready to admit it when Grayson pulls me behind him and says, "I started it. I yelled, 'food fight sir.'"
Mr. Webner looks as astonished as Sienna does, Grayson was taking full responsibility for this.
I couldn't let him do that so I stepped out of his protection and said, " I did it too." I point at the two girls covered in food, "but they started it."
Their jaws drop as they glare at me. Mr. Webner looks around and sighs in frustration. "All 4 of you, in my office."
We sit patiently as Mr. Webner starts talking about what we did was wrong and how our punishment would be to clean the cafeteria for a whole week. We nod our heads as he finishes and adds, "anything to say?"
I look over at Grayson and see him raise his eyebrows at me. I shake my head and knowing this would affect Grayson, say, "no sir. I've been a bad girl and deserve to be punished." I hold my smile as I see Grayson cross his legs and stare lustfully at me. I look over at the two other girls who give us disgusted faces. However, Mr. Webner doesn't notice what I was trying to do as he nods his head.
"Yes," he says, "you all have to answer for the mistakes you made today." I'm tight lip as I nod my head. "You may be dismissed and start cleaning."
As soon as we step out of the room, Sienna pushes past me and mumbles, "you two deserve each other."
I was so tired of these bullies, that I walked closer to her and flipped her around. She looks at me unimpressed and presses her tongue to the side of her mouth as she gives me an expectant look with raised eyebrows. "What's your deal with me?"
"You know what it is."
"I didn't steal him from you, Sienna," I told her. At the moment, I wasn't conscious of everyone else. I wanted to know what I had done to make her into a mean girl.
She just gave me a cynical look and scoffed. Looking past me, her eyes lock with Grayson who gives her a raised eyebrow.
Sienna shakes her head and rolls her eyes while saying, "asshole." She locks her eyes with me again. "I hate that he's making me the bad guy. After everything you put me through, I think you should have at least backed me up and stayed by my side." I know her words are directed at Grayson who has a tight lip. I can see him looking down, ashamed.
"What is going on between you two?" I look at Grayson, "Grayson if you wanted to be with her then why-"
"Don't," he cuts me off, "you promised you would be okay with all my fuck ups."
Sienna scoffs, "good for you Amelia. You get the good guy. I got the fucking asshole who only wanted one thing and all I asked was for him to stay with me." She looks over at him, "Couldn't keep it in your pants?"
"Sienna," he says with a somber but warning tone.
I look between them and feel so out of the loop. "Grayson, should I have backed away?"
"No," he pleads, "Sienna tell her. Please." Sienna ignores him and grabs my wrist abruptly. She begins to guide us through the people and into the bathroom stall, away from everyone. I can hear Grayson bang on the door but Sienna locks it. I look at her as she rolls her eyes and leans on the sink.
I cross my arms and look at her defeated nature. "Are you okay?"
She sighs. "Amelia, I have nothing against you. I have something against you and Grayson because he was meant to be with me. You don't get it, but we were always told that I was supposed to marry either Abacus or Grayson. I fell in love with Grayson, hard. Even when he cheated, I stayed by his side because he needed me and I needed him." I'm about to tell her that Grayson never cheated but she stops me. "I know he didn't. I know Grayson like the back of my hand. He wanted me to believe it and I wanted to believe it too. He never loved me. I knew it, but I did. He never gave any other girl any attention, so I always thought I would have his heart. As fucked up as it seems, he needed me to fill a void and I needed him to get my business. My parents told me if I wanted the business, it comes only with marrying one of the wealthy boys. They guided me toward their first choice, Grayson. He had a business just waiting for him, merging them would be the maximum outcome. I wasn't supposed to fall in love unless he did. I thought he had, but it was just me. The messy thing about mixing business with love is that you don't get results. Now, you two get to be happy while I'm fucked. I don't get a business or the guy."
My mind is so lost in this mess that all I can say is, "You guys have fucked up families."
Sienna cracks a smile and I join her. It felt weird to be having an honest conversation with her. She had threatened me so much about backing away from Grayson, that I never knew she was just a vulnerable girl wanting her dreams to come true. I open my arms and give her a hug. She stiffens at my touch before reciprocating.
"Why are you being so nice to me after everything?"
"You never did anything, did you?"
She shakes her head, "Besides, threaten you to stay away from an asshole which I'm sorry about? Everything."
I nod at her apology but then laugh because I finally realized what Gina meant when she said she was a true business person. "You used blackmail to get to me, a true business move," I admire. She looks away, a bit flustered by my words. "So, what's the plan?" I ask her.
"What do you mean?" She asks me, surprised.
"How are we going to make your parents realize you're independent and can run a business all by yourself?"
She smiles but shakes her head. "They know I can, but that's my own battle. You have to fight your own." I raise an eyebrow and she says, "Whoever put those fliers."
"Do you know who put them?" I ask, ready for the answer.
However, she shakes her head. "No, sorry. They were here when we got here."
I sigh but shrug, "They'll come out eventually."
"How are you so confident?"
"They're after me and senior year is ending. I won't let it carry out much."
"I wish you luck," she says and saunters towards the door. "Maybe we can be friends someday."
"I'd like that," I told her. She opens the door and I watch her walk out with her confident aura around her. Nothing could destroy her, and I hoped she would win the battle of owning her business without a man by her side. She would be amazing at it.

Well damn, the drama is heating up. Any guesses on who could have put up those fliers?
Did your perspective of Sienna change at all?
Did it change about Amelia?
Also, I tried something and was able to put this video because I think it just goes.
Please don't forget to vote, comment, and share.
Phoenix out :)
