Chapter 15

“Nothing to say?” Jimin mocked, tossing a file onto the table. “Fine. Let me fill in the gaps for you. We’ve got SeoHa’s connection to Lady Kim. We’ve got the ledger. And thanks to your lovely fingerprints, Jungkook, we’ve got enough to bury both of you.”

Hoseok leaned against the wall, arms crossed. “Unless, of course, you want to make a deal. Start talking, and maybe we can work something out.”

Namjoon scoffed, but Jungkook hesitated, his eyes darting to the file.

“Think carefully,” Jimin said, his voice cold. “Because SeoHa’s already made her move, and she’s not coming to save you.”

Jungkook’s gaze flickered to Namjoon, who shook his head subtly. But Jungkook’s resolve was weakening, the cracks in their partnership growing.

Jungkook's fingers tapped nervously against the edge of the table as he avoided Jimin’s piercing stare. Hoseok pushed off the wall, moving to stand beside Jimin, his presence adding silent pressure.

Namjoon, however, remained defiant, glaring at Jungkook. “Don’t you dare, Jungkook,” he hissed. “Not a word.”

Jimin smirked, signaling to the officers. “Take Namjoon out. Let him cool off somewhere else.”

The officers stepped forward, grabbing Namjoon by the arms. He struggled briefly but allowed himself to be led out, his eyes burning with fury as they locked onto Jungkook.

“You’ll regret this,” Namjoon spat before the door closed behind him.

The room fell silent, the air thick with tension. Jungkook’s eyes lingered on the door, but when he looked back at Jimin, his defiance wavered.

“You said SeoHa already made her move,” Jungkook muttered, his voice low. “What do you know?”

Jimin leaned forward, his voice sharp. “I know she’s left you both in the fire while she walks away clean. The question is, are you going to take the fall for her? Or are you going to tell me what I need to know?”

Jungkook swallowed hard, his resolve crumbling under the weight of Jimin’s words. He glanced briefly at Hoseok, who remained silent but watchful, then back at Jimin.

“It started with their wedding,” Jungkook admitted finally, his voice shaking slightly.

Jimin raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Their wedding?”

Jungkook nodded, his hands gripping the edge of the table tightly. “SeoHa married into Lady Kim’s family with Taehyung. She wasn’t just some distant connection—she was her sister-in-law. The marriage was strategic, a way for SeoHa to get close to the family business and... their secrets.”

Hoseok frowned, exchanging a glance with Jimin. “Go on,” he urged.

Jungkook slumped in his chair, his hands trembling slightly as he gazed at the table in front of him. Jimin and Hoseok stood on either side, their expressions cold and unrelenting. The silence stretched as Jimin tossed a file onto the table with a sharp thud.

“Start talking, Jungkook,” Jimin said, his voice cutting through the quiet like a blade. “We already know SeoHa’s involvement, Namjoon’s role, and your connection to Lady Kim. You either fill in the blanks, or I’ll make sure you and Namjoon rot in here.”

Hoseok leaned against the wall, his arms crossed. “You’re not protecting anyone by staying silent, Jungkook. The truth will come out, with or without your help. So, why not make it easier on yourself?”

Jungkook exhaled deeply, his gaze flicking to the door where Namjoon had been taken moments earlier. The weight of guilt and exhaustion hung heavy on him. “You don’t get it,” he began, his voice hoarse. “It didn’t start like this. None of it was supposed to happen this way.”

Jimin pulled out a chair and sat across from him, his expression unreadable. “Then explain it to me. Start from the beginning.”

Jungkook hesitated before speaking, his voice low and broken. “Lady Kim… Y/n… she was my wife. I wasn’t supposed to be involved in any of this. I was just her husband, a representative for her business ventures. Y/n was brilliant—she built her art and museum business from the ground up. But the truth is, her success came with hidden dangers.”

Hoseok frowned. “Hidden dangers? Like what?”

Jungkook leaned forward, his hands gripping the table. “Namjoon. He was the original leader of the group running smuggling operations behind the scenes. Y/n didn’t know at first—she believed she was funding legitimate ventures. But Namjoon saw an opportunity to expand his operations through her museum’s network.”

“And you?” Jimin asked, his tone sharp. “What was your role in all this?”

“I was just a representative,” Jungkook admitted. “I handled public relations and meetings. But when Y/n started suspecting something was off, she confronted Namjoon. He manipulated her, told her it was all for the business, for the greater good. She wanted to believe him, but she wasn’t naive.”

Hoseok’s eyes narrowed. “And SeoHa? Where does she fit into this?”

Jungkook’s face darkened. “SeoHa married into the family through Y/n’s brother, Taehyung. At first, she seemed like she cared about the family, about the business. Y/n trusted her and even made her the right hand in charge of financial transactions and the museum’s operations.”

Jimin leaned closer, his gaze intense. “So, SeoHa was handling the money and overseeing the museum. Did she know about the smuggling?”

Jungkook nodded slowly. “Not at first. But Namjoon brought her into the fold. She was ambitious and clever, and she saw the potential for power. She started orchestrating financial deals under the guise of museum expos, using them to cover up the smuggling of diamonds, antiques, and illegal artwork. And Y/n…”

Jungkook’s voice broke, and he paused, swallowing hard. “Y/n found out. She confronted SeoHa, and they argued. SeoHa was supposed to stop, but instead, she tightened her grip on the operations. She even convinced Namjoon to eliminate anyone who threatened their plans.”

Jimin’s jaw clenched. “Are you saying SeoHa had a hand in Y/n’s death?”

Jungkook looked away, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I don’t have proof, but I know it. Y/n was starting to expose everything—the smuggling, Namjoon’s role, SeoHa’s betrayal. And then… she was gone.”

Hoseok exchanged a glance with Jimin. “And the painting with the hidden diamonds? Was that Y/n’s doing or SeoHa’s?”

“It was SeoHa’s idea,” Jungkook said bitterly. “A distraction to keep everyone focused on the wrong things. She planted it in the museum, knowing it would point fingers away from her and Namjoon.”

Jimin stood abruptly, pacing the room. “So, SeoHa used Y/n’s trust, Namjoon exploited her business, and you just stood by?”

Jungkook slammed his fist on the table, his voice rising. “I didn’t know how deep it went! By the time I realized, it was too late. I tried to protect Y/n, but I failed. And now…” His voice broke again.

Jimin stopped pacing, his voice low and icy. “Now, you’re going to help me take them down. Every single one of them.”

Jungkook nodded, his resolve hardening. “I’ll tell you everything. Just promise me… you’ll get justice for Y/n.”

Jimin’s eyes burned with determination. “Justice is the only thing I care about.”
