Chapter 12
Jimin reached the museum in record time, his tires screeching as he braked at the entrance. He stormed inside, weapon drawn, scanning the dimly lit halls. The faint sound of Yoongi’s muffled voice led him to the main gallery. There, under a beam of light, sat Yoongi, tied to a chair, a web of wires strapped across his chest. A red timer blinked ominously on the bomb.
Jimin’s heart raced as he moved closer. Yoongi’s eyes widened in relief and fear.
“Yoongi! Stay calm,” Jimin said, crouching to inspect the bomb. His phone buzzed in his pocket. He answered, his voice sharp.
“What do you want?”
The distorted voice from earlier chuckled. “Ah, Mr. Park, so prompt. I expected no less. Unfortunately, your time is up.”
The line went dead.
Jimin looked up just as a shadow moved across the upper balcony. He drew his gun, firing, but the figure was too quick, disappearing through a shattered window. Hoseok and the backup team burst in moments later.
“Hoseok, secure the exits and evacuate the museum!” Jimin barked.
Hoseok nodded and relayed orders to the team. Meanwhile, Jimin focused on Yoongi. “Yoongi, I need you to trust me. Stay still.”
Using his training, Jimin examined the wires. The bomb’s complexity made his palms sweat, but he spotted a potential deactivation route. He cut the wire with steady hands, holding his breath as the timer stopped at 00:01.
Yoongi gasped in relief. “Thank you, Jimin.”
As Hoseok helped Yoongi out, Jimin noticed a paper fluttering to the ground. He picked it up. Written in bold, sharp handwriting, it read:
“If you follow me, I will follow you till your death.” — RM.
Jimin clenched his fist. Namjoon was taunting him, and it only fueled his resolve.
Later That Evening: The Trial
Jimin entered the courtroom with an air of determination. He submitted the painting, the diamonds, and Jungkook’s fingerprints as evidence. The judge reviewed the files while Jimin detailed his findings.
“Your Honor, the painting was a cover for smuggling diamonds. Jungkook’s fingerprints on the packets confirm his involvement,” Jimin stated confidently.
Namjoon and Jungkook’s lawyer stood, adjusting his glasses. “Your Honor, this so-called evidence is circumstantial. My clients were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. The diamonds? A coincidence. And fingerprints? Easily fabricated.”
Jimin’s jaw tightened. The lawyer’s words were smooth, but Jimin knew the truth. He glanced at Taehyung and Lady Kim’s family, their somber expressions urging him to stay composed.
As the lawyer continued to discredit the findings, Jungkook smirked, and Namjoon remained unreadable. Jimin took a deep breath, rising to counter.
“Your Honor, the evidence is clear. The diamonds were hidden in Lady Kim’s painting, and these men were directly involved in her death. This is no coincidence—it’s calculated murder and theft!”
The courtroom murmured as Jimin’s words echoed. The judge called for order, his gavel striking the desk.
Taehyung’s gaze locked with Jimin’s, silently urging him to stand firm.
The trial took a tense turn as both sides presented arguments, but Jimin’s determination didn’t waver. Outside the courtroom, Hoseok waited with new intel.
“Jimin, we found something else in the museum,” Hoseok said, handing him a file.
Jimin opened it, his eyes narrowing at the contents. “Namjoon… your game isn’t over yet.”
