On the train
As we watch the reapings Finnick points out each competitor letting us know their odds and their strengths, when we get to us he pauses the video and asks me "Why did you volunteer for her?" "What do you mean?" "Well", he says "You don't seem like a career to me..." "That's because I'm not" I say tossing my flaming, curly red hair back, my soot colored eyes piercing through his ocean blue ones. "I volunteered because you don't just let your 13 year old cousin walk to her death, especially when she means the world to you!" I yell. Finnick stares calmly back at me for a moment, then says to keep that anger and use it in the games. I nod stiffly and turn back to the tv, which he un-pauses accordingly. After we finish watching the reaping videos he asks us a question that he seems to deem very important, "What do you have to live for?" We lean forward and stare blankly for a moment before I lean back again and say "Beatrice the most but my brothers as well" Finnick nods then turns expectantly to Jack "Well... my family isn't exactly amazing so under different circumstances I would say Kaytlin but..."
"Crap" Finnick replies. "You have to have some one to love for, I myself tried to win for my family."
"Well what if I don't want to win!" He shoots right back. "Wait, uh back the T-Rex up. I'm m not letting you die, not on my watch!" I say.
"Well one of us has to... and it should be me"
"Ya know what, we'll discuss this later." I say, Effectively ending the conversation.
"I would suggest getting as much sleep as possible tonight you will need it in the upcoming days." Finnick says suddenly, reminding us that he is in the room. At that we all get up and go to our respective rooms, mine is a mix of blacks, greys, and teals. The main reason I picked the room though was because it had a glass roof and I could see the stars. Right after I change into shorts and a comfortable t shirt I hear a knock on my door. I open it thinking it's Jack, but am surprised to see Finnick standing there. "Can I help you?" I ask.
"I used to have this room" he says, conveniently avoiding my question.
"That's nice, but I don't suppose you came here to talk about the decor, now did you." I say rather sarcastically. "No" he laughs, "Actually your little cousin asked me to give this to you when you volunteered, so that you would have a token." He then hands me an anklet that Brooklyn had been working on for weeks. It was teals and greys and it had a pretty wave like pattern to it. "Thank you" I nodded, the tied it around my ankle tightly so not to loose it. Finnick then said good night and walked away. I quickly shut my door and upon falling in bed fell asleep almost immediately.
