Not a second after she reached her boss did the doorbell ring alerting to the host couple that their first guests had arrived. Sasuke sent a smile to Sakura before moving to open the door. "I hope you're ready for this as well."
Nodding her head and bracing herself for the long night before her, Sakura smoothed an invisible wrinkle on her dress. "I think I am."
Sasuke said nothing else as he opened the door.
Sakura wasn't entirely sure what to expect of the night, but this wasn't it. The people attending the party were all rather classy. Most wearing expensive clothes and talked like they knew what they were talking about. Not many seemed overly impressed or awed by Sasuke, which was fine for the man, though Sakura couldn't figure out how they couldn't be.
Her boss moved throughout the rooms containing his guests with a wine glass in hand. Every time she saw him he had another full glass in his hand. Not that Sakura was stalking Sasuke. Not at all. She just knew that sometimes he attracted unwanted attention so she was merely keeping an eye out for him. Yep, that's what she was doing.
The food was fantastic. Sakura was extremely pleased with Tobi's work. The bubbly male did a superb job making all the dishes and was told so by many of the guests. Most weren't surprised, however, to find out that Sasuke had hired the best chef in all of Japan for his dinner party.
Sakura, on the other hand, had quite the opposite sort of night. The highlight being split between three separate meetings. The first was only an outburst from Tobi. The chef had finished with his duties before attending the party himself to receive the compliments for his food.
It was during this time that the overly excited male bounced over to Sakura as she stalked kept an eye on Sasuke. The unsuspecting pinkette was not at all ready for the pounce.
"SAKURA-CHI! Tobi is so happy to be here with you!"
Thanking the gods that she'd been standing close to a wall, which kept her from falling to the floor and on her butt in front of everyone, Sakura righted herself to hug Tobi back a little. "You really need to tone it down a bit, Tobi. People are going to wonder why you think so much of me. Please don't give away my secret."
The hyper raven, who looked stunning in his own party suit, "Tobi already promised Sakura-chi to keep her secret. Tobi will not tell anyone anything!"
"Tell anyone what?"
"That Sakura-chi writ-"
Sakura wasted no time in slapping her hand over Tobi's mouth to smile at the man that had just joined their conversation. "Nothing at all, Naruto. How are you doing tonight? Enjoying the party?"
"Oh, you know it, Haruno! The foods great! Once again, Tobi, you've done awesome!"
The man who had practically been slapped in the face hadn't been released from the hold of the hostess yet. In the end, he just nodded his head to the man speaking to her.
Naruto raised an eyebrow before shrugging it off and walking away while calling out to another person in the room. "Kiba? Is that you? Damn man! You look great!"
Smiling as Naruto walked away, Sakura turned deadly eyes onto the man she was keeping quiet. Watching as Tobi gulped, the hostess took a hold of the other without letting go of his mouth to pull him close. "You almost told, Tobi. If you tell, I will stop writing those stories."
Quivering as Sakura hissed her threats into his ear, Tobi just nodded his head to what Sakura was saying.
"One word to anyone and I'll delete everything. You don't want that, do you?"
Seeing that Sakura finally released his mouth, Tobi shook his head hard. "Tobi does not want that! Tobi will keep the secret!"
Keeping the expression on his face serious, Sakura stared hard at the male. "I warned you, Tobi. Remember what I said because I won't give you a second chance."
The raven nodded his head once again before fleeing from the room.
Sakura watched him leave and almost felt bad for treating the man so harshly. It wasn't as if Naruto didn't already know, but Sakura didn't need for the two of them to start fangirling in the middle of Sasuke's dinner party, especially about a story containing smut about the host himself.
Knowing that Tobi would most likely keep her mouth shut for the rest of the night, Sakura turned back to her task at hand. Watching Sasuke. It was while she was scanning the room for him that she had her second-high point of the night.
"Looking for my brother?"
Jumping slightly, Sakura turned to find a tall purple hair girl standing before her. Uchiha Hinata. Or as some knew her, Uzumaki Hinata. Sasuke's sister and Naruto's wife. "Just making sure everything is running smoothly. Are you enjoying the night, Hinata?"
A smirk-very much similar to Sasuke's-snuck upon Hinata's lips. "So, you know me. Good. I know you as well, Sakura. I'm very much a fan of your work."
Seeing that Naruto had already spilled the beans on the fact that he and Hinata both read Sakura's story, Sakura wasn't surprised to hear Hinata say what she did. "Thank you. It is always nice to hear my work is appreciated."
It was in that moment that Sasuke decided to appear out of nowhere. "I tell you that you do a good job all the time."
Jumping slightly but covering the fact that she had with a cough, Sakura smiled at her boss. "Hinata was just complimenting me on putting together such a wonderful party."
Hinata stared hard at the pink haired girl that worked for her brother before smiling at Sasuke. "Much better than last years, Sasuke."
"Yes, well, I'm not putting it on by myself. I have a very talented and hardworking secretary to do it for me this year. Of course, it is better."
Sakura blushed while taking Sasuke's compliment. "Just doing my job."
"Speaking of work, Sakura come with me so that I can introduce you to some other people."
"I don't think Sakura needs to meet anyone you are introducing her to, Hinata."
The female had already taken a hold of Sakura's wrist to pull her way from Sasuke. She really just wanted to assure the pinkette that she'd make certain that Naruto would keep his mouth shut so that Sakura didn't have to worry about Sasuke finding out. Then again, Hinata was aware of the fact that Sasuke had long ago discovered his secretary's work. The threat he'd given her over the phone was still echoing around her mind. Sasuke never made threats like that unless he was serious. In fact, he was probably attempting to keep Hinata away from Sakura at the moment to make sure that nothing unneeded was said. "Oh, relax Sasuke, it isn't like I'm going to kidnap her and leave. I just want to introduce her to Tenten because Tenten wanted to know who put together the party."
"Tell her someone else did it. I don't need that shorty stealing my best employee."
"Sasuke, she's your only employee!"
Sakura couldn't believe that she was causing the two siblings to fight in the middle of the dinner party. This was something she had not expected. "It is all right, Sasuke. I'll go meet Tenten. I'm not looking for a new job and I really don't mind speaking with your sister."
Sighing since he knew he lost the battle, Sasuke reluctantly nodded his head. "Fine, I'll go get myself another drink before speaking to more people I'd rather not have in my house."
Sakura wanted to warn Sasuke not to drink too much at his own party but was whisked away by the taller girl before she could even open her mouth.
Whoever Tenten was, Sakura was going to have to wait to meet her since Hinata pulled her into a separate side room away from the rest of the party. "Sakura, listen up. I just want to apologize for my moronic husband and his big mouth. I promise you that we won't say a word to Sasuke. I've already threatened no sex for a month if Naruto tells him and I guarantee he does not want that. He might seem like an idiot and act like one most of the time, but he won't do anything stupid. Now, let's go meet Tenten since I'm sure my nosy brother will ask you about her later and I don't want you to have to make stuff up."
Not actually knowing if she was supposed to respond to any of that, or how to respond to any of that, Sakura just allowed for Hinata to pull her back out of the side room and into the throng of guests once more. She was just about to finish praying that her night didn't get any more bizarre when Hinata came to a stop in front of a brunette that was shorter than the one dragging Sakura around.
"So, this is the naughty secretary. Nice to meet you at last, Sakura."
Hinata scowled as she crossed her arms. "I had no idea that someone as small as you could even reach a keyboard, Tenten."
Returning the icy look tenfold, the small girl put on a fake smile for the taller one. "Never would have thought someone with so little between her ears could even read, Hinata."
Sakura stood awkwardly between the two for a moment before she cleared her throat. "I'm sorry but I'm not sure what's going on."
Sighing, Hinata gestured to the shorter girl. "Hyuga Tenten, another one of your avid readers."
Sakura's eyes opened a bit more due to shock as she took in the other girl. How many people at this party freaking knew?! This was getting out of hand. "H-hello."
"Oh, don't be nervous. If I wanted to tell Sasuke then I would have already. He can miss out on such a great story for all I care."
Still slightly in shock, Sakura tried to smile at the other girl. "Well I'm glad you like it then."
Giving the pink haired girl a half smile, Tenten returned her glare to the taller purple hair female. "What are you still doing here, Hinata? Don't you have a husband to babysit?"
"Jealous because my husband actually acts like man?"
"A man? More like a child."
Hinata huffed before she left while mumbling under her breath.
Sakura just stood in her spot while being overly confused. What the hell was wrong with these people?!
Turning back to a see a lost expression on the other's face, Tenten gave that sort of smile thing again. "Right, I'm Hyuga Tenten. My husband is the world-famous dancer, Hyuga Nenji."
For a moment, Sakura wasn't certain why Tenten was telling her that. Then it clicked. Nenji was known to sometimes dress as a girl and dance in a way that made men fall in love with him. No wonder Hinata had commented on Tenten not being married to a manly man. "I'm sure you hear this all the time, but Nenji is a fantastic dancer!"
A low voice sounded from behind Sakura, causing her to jump a little. "And you are a fantastic writer, Sakura."
Spinning on her heel, Sakura turned to come face to face with said dancer himself. "Nej-Nenji! You too?!"
Laughing, the long-haired man moved through the short space between him and his wife to place his arm around her waist. "Tenten and I both enjoy your works. I wish you would post more of them."
Feeling faint, Sakura wished the night would just end. There were too many people reading her stories. How could they all be so closely related to herself and Sasuke? How was this even possible? "Th-thanks. I... I've been working on my style for a while now and I'm finally happy with where I'm at."
Smiling warmly at her, the world-famous dancer nodded as she spoke. "It shows. We've been following you for a while. You should consider publishing a book."
"No, no! I'm nowhere near good enough for that!"
"For what?"
Once again, Sakura was given a rather large shock by her boss just suddenly appearing out of nowhere to join her conversation. "Uhh...."
"I was just complimenting Sakura-chan on her party planning abilities. Neji suggested that she start her own company."
Sasuke looked over at the couple standing opposite of him and Sakura. Something seemed off in their answer, but there was no way for him to prove it. Either way, he didn't like it. "Why is everyone attempting to steal my secretary tonight? I may have made a mistake in asking her to be here!"
Laughing a little, Sakura put her hand on Sasuke's arm. Instantly, her palm tingled. "No, don't worry, Sasuke. I assured them that I wasn't nearly capable enough to start a business. Besides, I'm quite happy with the job I have."
Returning the smile, Sasuke nodded to her. "Good because I don't want to have to find someone new again."
Neji and Tenten watched the exchange silently before they shared a look. The sexual tension between the pair was enough to kill. "Well, we better be going. It is getting late. Thank you for the wonderful evening."
Sakura and Sasuke smiled and said their goodbyes. Little else could be done since Tenten and Neji weren't the only ones calling it a night. For the next two hours, Sasuke and Sakura were stuck next to the front door of his house saying goodbye to all the guests. Sakura even got a hug from Naruto, which neither Hinata nor Sasuke seemed pleased about.
Once everyone was gone, Sakura let out a sigh of relief. They had made it through the night. More importantly, her secret had made it through the night. "Is there anything else you need from me, Sasuke, before I go upstairs to get ready for bed?"
Turning to look at the exhausted yet beautiful girl he so badly wanted to ravish, Sasuke shook his head. "No, let me walk you up there."
Blushing again, Sakura smiled and climbed the stairs with her boss. They made it down the hallway and to her door before she finally worked out what she could say without making things awkward. "I think the party was a success. You are a great host."
Smirking, Sasuke took a step closer to the girl working for him. "You planned a great party."
Sakura stood frozen as her boss leaned in to place a kiss on her lips. There was absolutely nothing that she could do. Nothing at all. He tasted of heaven and of the wine he'd been drinking throughout the night. He tasted so amazing that she almost fell forward when he pulled back. She had to resist licking her lips as he smirked at her once more before turning to leave.
"Good night, Sakura."
