Not Horrible... (Supposedly)
It had been a few weeks since the four had started going out together officially.
And tonight was the night everyone was going to tell Nahida and Wanderer their newfound happiness.
It was Tighnari's idea, actually.
Ever since the Dendro Archon had chilled out on what she perceived as her "proper duties", she had more and more time to hang out with those she cared about.
...So, Tighnari stood in front of a mirror in his room, anxiously brushing knots out of his tail with a comb. With every brush, a million thoughts went through his head.
What if Nahida didn't support the relationship? What if Wanderer had a meltdown and trashed the place? Both were unlikely scenarios, but that didn't stop the Fennec Fox from worrying.
"Baba? What are you doing....? You've been locked in here for fifteen minutes and everyone is getting worried..." A concerned young voice chimed after knocking on the door to the room Tighnari was in. Said fox jumped and checked the clock on a nightstand behind him. He had been in there for awhile.
He took a breath and walked over to the door, unlocking and opening it. There stood Collei, a little more dressed up than usual. She was concerned for her father figure.
Tighnari smiled as he adjusted the necklace on her collarbones slightly. He assured her that he was alright, and that he just needed a minute to brush out his tail.
Collei, although not trusting that he was fine, nodded her head and walked with him out the chamber and downstairs, where everyone else was in the living room.
Kaveh, Alhaitham and Cyno sat on the couch, conversing a missing persons case that was currently very big in Sumeru.
When they noticed that Tighnari and Collei entered the room, everyone seemed a lot more... Calm. Even Alhaitham, whose emotions were quite hard to discern from the naked eye. They had been worried for their boyfriend.
"It'll be alright, Nari. We all know Lesser Lord Kusanali. She won't be upset- I know it," Kaveh tried to assure his partner, realizing the fox was still nervous. Even as he did that, he started picking at his fingernails. It was an anxious habit of Kaveh's. He already had callused hands from his line of work, and picking didn't help his case at all. Nor did it really stifle Tighnari's worry, though he appreciated the attempt.
"Thank you, Kav.. Wait Collei? Did you remember to take your evening medicine?" And Tighnari found something else to fret over. His daughter was always forgetting to take her Eleazar medication. Cyno and Alhaitham watched the scene unfold. These two had issues with showing physical signs of happiness- like smiling- but the way their eyes softened at that was happening in front of them did not go unnoticed by Tighnari or Kaveh.
Though, a moment later the doorbell rang, and the hairs on Tighnari's ears were spiked up. He went to the door and opened it, greeting the Wanderer and Dendro Archon.
He let the both of them in, and they entered the living room.
"Acting Grand Sage. Darshan Kshahrewar; Kaveh. It's lovely to see you again. Hello General. Collei," Lesser Lord Kusanali waved to everyone in the room. Her aura was so.. warm. It was refreshing. She lightly tugged on Wanderer's pants, silently ushering him to speak.
He crossed his arms and offered a very, very dull hello. They were both dressed up nicely, as requested by Tighnari.
Half an hour later of light and slightly restricted talk, the group had finished their dinner and were moving onto dessert.
Cyno walked around the table and gave everyone a plate of chocolate cake. He tried cracking a joke to lighten the mood more, but was stifled when Tighnari gave him a look.
The poor fox was worrying to death.
"So.. Tighnari, what is the reason you invited us all to dinner? If I may be so bold as to ask?" Nahida let her curiosity get the better of her.
As the Archon of Wisdom, she already knew why she was there, though she wouldn't say anything. Wanderer tried not to show it, but he was interested too. It wasn't every day that they were asked to dress so nicely, and it especially wasn't every day that they all were under the same roof.
Cyno suddenly cleared his throat and looked at his Dendro wielding daughter. That was her queue.
She immediately smashed her fork into her empty plate, a blush clear as day on her cheeks. "K-Kuni! Would you.. join me in the backyard? There's something I'd like to show you!" Collei suddenly asked her "Cousin". He was about to protest her request, but stifled when he felt a glare from his parental figure.
He groaned slightly, but got up and followed Collei out of the room. He wanted to listen in and find out what the heck was going on. He told himself he was so interested because he had nothing better to do.
A lie, clearly meant to save his ego.
The two walked into the backyard, just as Collei had requested.
Tighnari and Cyno had this patio, which was followed immediately by a small hill. Collei and Wanderer walked to the top of the hill and looked at the sky. The sun had long set by this time, and there were beautiful twinkling stars in the sky. Collei somehow had a really thin blanket she pulled out of nowhere, and laid it on the grass. She sat down and crossed her legs, looking into the beautiful atmosphere.
"It's.. amazing,"
In all honesty, Collei didn't expect her cousin to stay with her.
And she certainly didn't expect it when he decided to plop down next to her.
He fiddled with his vision once again as he looked up at the balls of fire in the sky. It wasn't that bad, he thought. And eventually, those thoughts turned into words. "It's not horrible, I suppose," the Anemo user confessed.
That made Collei's night.
