Chapter 3: CyberSpace
It was the big day. A day that would change the lives of many people. That's right, your guess is right. The day has come. There might have been about five hundred beta testers but it didn't mean that they were all at the same place. Axle was among the fifty people in his area, in Blue Stone, who volunteered to be a beta tester for the new CyberSpace program.
The age groups of the people ranged from full grown adults to young adults to teenagers. All these people were either willing to take the risk in order to help in the advances of technology while the rest were doing it for the money. Axle stood somewhere in the corner wondering where Rebecca was. The beta launch of the program was about and the creator of it was nowhere to be seen.
"Greeting beta testers!!!" And speak of the Devil. Axle looked over to see Rebecca standing with a prideful smile on her face. "I'm sure most of you are wondering what CyberSpace is. This is a test to see what the virtual world so if any of you have seen the Matrix, Tron and Sword Art Online, you should know what I'm talking about!!"
Every person there save for Axle paid close attention to what Rebecca was saying. The only reason for that was because he was informed about it the day before. "Now, to get you into CyberSpace we chose to let you wear a trigger band on your wrist. When you enter CyberSpace it will be on your virtual body as well, so remember... that band is your way in AND out, so don't lose it." She said with a serious tone at the last four words. This made everyone gulp as they worried for the safety of their trigger bands.
"Now head over to your stations and prepare to enter CyberSpace." Rebecca instructed one last time before everyone went to off their designated stations. Excitement, fear and anxiety... these were the things running through everyone's minds as the moment was failing to pass.
Axle was on his way to his station before he was stopped by none other than Rebecca herself. "Axle, I know you know that this is risky so I wanted to say good luck." She said before wrapping him into a tight hug. "Be safe kiddo." She told him with a warm smile. "I will." Axle said, reassuring her, before going to his station.
When he made it there he took off his shirt before getting hooked up to a bunch of machines. He felt cold but he knew he was gonna be out of the real world for at least twelve hours, so he decided to suck it up. Some prices had to be paid for science and that included his warm shirt, jacket and coat.
"Everything seems to be okay, you're good to go Mr Ryder." The doctor at his station told him while giving him the thumbs up. "Okay... Mom, Dad, Laura, Carly... give me strength." He said quietly praying to his fallen family and to a CyberHuman whom he cares deeply for.
"CyberSpace launch!" He said before pressing the button on his band. This immediately knocked him out as his mind was being transferred to the virtual world.

"You okay Carly?" Erin asked her foster sister. "Yeah, I'm just worried about Axle." Carly said with no lies in her voice.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you liked Axle. And I mean like him." Erin smirked as she teased the CyberHuman. Those words left Carly flustered, so much that she was at the 'run away' stage.
"Don't be crazy Erin. It's simply absurd to assume I have feelings like that toward Axle." She said trying to end her sister's teasing but that wasn't working at all.
"Whatever, even if you do like him, and that's a big 'if', there's no way he'd return those feelings since you did in a way force him to stop feeling like that toward you." Those words hit Carly like a truck. It was true, she kept rejecting Axle's advances towards her and now that she was falling for him and accepting her feelings for him, he got over her. There was no escaping that.
"Yeah, so what's the use anyway?" The CyberHuman said in a more depressed tone. This was really starting to hurt Carly. Not only did she keep blaming herself for why Axle is the way he is today, she felt stupid for not letting Axle in when she had the chance.
"Listen, there might be a chance he still likes you so don't give up... besides, you might wanna get him before someone else does." Erin said before leaving the room leaving Carly lost in her thoughts. Was there still hope for her and Axle? She was going to have to find out soon.
